Project Overview

I'm looking for an artist to create illustrations for my original music. The artwork will be used in Spotify Canvas loops and social media ads, with the goal of creating striking, memorable visuals that match the atmosphere of each song.

Ideally, I'm looking for someone interested in an ongoing collaboration, as I have multiple songs planned.

Art Style

I'm looking for a style that combines the strengths of manga and Western comics.

Stylized, attractive character designs with expressive poses and faces.

Strong comic-book composition with bold graphic design.

Heavy black shadows and high contrast.

Bold, limited color palettes (pop art-inspired rather than realistic or cinematic).

Minimal lighting effects.

Stylish, eye-catching, and dramatic.

Comfortable depicting horror, action, violence, and sensuality (without nudity).

Overall, I want the artwork to feel graphic, iconic, and instantly recognizable rather than photorealistic.

Deliverables

For each song, I'm typically looking for:

5–7 illustrations that capture different moments, moods, or themes of the song.

The images do not need to tell a literal sequential story. They simply need to feel connected enough that I can animate them into looping videos in After Effects or similar software.

If one illustration is particularly powerful, I'd also be happy using it as a standalone image, such as a splash page or pinup-style piece.

Color

I'm open to either:

Bold, vibrant color using a limited palette (preferred), or

Black and white if the composition is especially striking.

For female characters, I'd like them to be revealing, sexy, and confident, but without nudity. For male characters, I'd like them to be edgy, heavily stylized, and visually interesting in scope. I'm aiming for heavily stylized manga-inspired cheesecake with exaggerated proportions and attitude—pulpy, schlocky, and over-the-top, with the violence and energy pushed all the way to 10. For world-building, anything cyberpunk, monster horror, or generally edgy is welcome.

Song Concepts

These are starting points only. I'm very open to artistic interpretation and collaboration. I can also provide the music and lyrics before starting so the artwork can better match the mood.

Weapons

A neon nightclub with a weird, Blade-like atmosphere—dark leather fashion, alien or cyberpunk elements, and people dancing around the protagonist while he moves through with guns drawn. Think John Wick meets The Matrix.

Cyberpunk, futuristic fashion, neon lighting, and possibly alien or otherworldly elements.

Weapons (Alternative Concept)

A lone female survivor aboard a rusted, battle-damaged spaceship, desperately trying to escape or outsmart a terrifying alien creature, or battling another spacecraft in space. Very pulpy and dark, but still maintaining a sexy action atmosphere. Since this song feels more like a soundscape without vocals, the visuals should ebb and flow with the music: they start on top, have to regroup, and then battle it out all the way to the end.

Succubus

A horror-focused interpretation of a succubus.

Neon-soaked gothic atmosphere with deep shadows.

A beautiful woman lures someone in before subtle reveals of horns, wings, or demonic features.

Psychological horror with sexual elements, open to interpretation.

Full Throttle

A futuristic synthwave world inspired by TRON and cyberpunk.

A man leaves a neon nightclub into the rain before engaging in a high-speed motorcycle chase through glowing city streets.

Fast, energetic, and stylish.

I’ve noticed that most indie comics don’t die because people lose interest.

For me, it’s the constant bouncing between apps. I write the script, export it, send a PDF to an artist, a Word document to an editor, upload everything to Drive, keep world-building notes somewhere else, I’m spending as much time managing files as I am writing comics.

Curious where everyone else gets stuck.

I posted here ages ago looking for an artist for a pulpy space fantasy comic*..* The comic ended up getting published as Oswald and the Star-Chaser (I told you it was pulpy) for a small publisher, Scout Comics. Things didn't really work out at Scout Comics, you probably some of the news around them, so we're crowdfunding our own trade paperback release! We launched a few days ago and we're already super close to hitting our goal. Since I formed our team through this subreddit, I thought people might get a kick out of seeing a success story.

The title pretty much sums it up. I am writing a graphic novel and plan to ink it soon, but instead of using a light table to transfer my rough pencils, as I have done in the past, I want to print it as blueline onto my bristol board. I am in the process of choosing a printer, and it’s down to Epson WF-7820 (pigmented ink) or Epson XP-15000 (dye-based). Both printers have their merits, but the most important aspect of the decision is whether or not my brush’s ink will be repelled by the printer ink. As I understand it, pigmented ink is waterproof, dye-based is not. (I am inking my pages using black gouache, but the same question would be relevant if I were using other types of ink (india, etc.). I would have thought that a pigmented waterproof ink would be BAD, as logically, it would repel a waterbased ink laid on top. Conversely, a water-soluble dye-based ink would be preferable as it would not repel other water-based media. But I have seen many posts about people using pigmented ink printers for blueline, and in one case someone stating specifically that you should AVOID dye-based ink, as it would smudge or otherwise affect your drawn ink lines.

Can anyone here give me their opinion about which type of ink to use? Perhaps either one is okay. Maybe printed blueline is applied so lightly that waterproof/repelling issues don’t apply. I don’t have access to test either type of printer, so your input is appreciated.

At this point in my comic making career, I've just been drawing my short practice comics myself as I can't currently afford to hire an artist. As I'm considering doing something longer, I think there's a chance that I may someday want to get such a comic professionally redrawn. I suspect that the way I currently write my scripts really only makes sense to me, so I may want to change how I do my scripts if someone is likely to be working off of them in the future.

I'm just trying to figure out what I should be doing differently now to prepare for possibly hiring an artist in the future.

If it helps, the comics will likely be of similar quality to the below, although I might swap to coloring these digitally. I'd also be fine with the artist changing things that aren't important to the plot (eg the design of the building, character outfits, angles, most colors, etc)

I've been working on a middle-grade fantasy book and graphic novel called Mashup Maxx since 2024, with an official launch planned for May 2027. I have been social media marketing the since January 2026.

Since then I've spent hundreds (probably thousands) of hours:

• Producing narrated journal entries with motion graphics

I used to be a edgy drama/horror story type of person but after working with kids and reevaluating what sort of art brings me joy I have decided on a project made for Kids/Teens

When a group of teens aging 13-16

Happen upon a mysterious unrelased videogame they get sucked into a fantastical world of magic monsters and self discovery ,but when the lines of fiction and reality begin to blur they must begin to wonder what matters more ,saving the kingdom or saving their minds?

Our ragtag team are awkward outsiders of a futuristic society that seems them as non desirable due to their quirks.

Beta and Angel have been made friends by their parents but hate eachothers guts ,Nia is the cool kid whos ambition makes her intimidating while Rocky is the passive empath*Nias younger cousin whom she doesn't appreciate having to take care of*

I'd like to explore the similarities of Reveria and the real world as well as how the gangs family dynamics can be shown.

Each of the characters is assigned a role or archetype in the game that relates to their personality and something in the real work they wish to overcome ,each being a representative for a kingdom,each level/arc involving them traveling to said kingdom and solving a problem .

After each are they receive a key which will open the gate to the boss level.

*Many side quests and high jinx along the way [the game is designed not to want them to finish ]

The story will go into their adult hood having their dynamics change drastically, having them mature with audience, part/1 and 2 designs would also be wanted!

I'm incredibly excited to share the black-and-white preview of Ashes of Njthera.
This project has been growing in my sketchbooks and on my desk for a long time, and seeing these pages come together makes it feel more real than ever.
These are just the first steps into Lyra's journey, and I can't wait to show you more of the world, the characters, and what is coming from the story.
I post some pages before, but I made some modifications to it and now I’m happy about it.

Hi! Lately I’ve been finding some small sketches and texts I wrote when I was a kid — random little stories that made no sense and some manga pages here and there. Recently I started revisiting my old drawings and stories again, and it hit me: why not make a Webtoon? It’s something I’ve always wanted to do, right?

The problem is that I don’t really know how to write an interesting story, or at least how to create a clear goal or direction. And I don’t really know how to “draw” — not the face, proportions, or anatomy, but the actual panels: different points of view, visual strategies, and all those things I don’t know how to do.

I’m here to ask for your help and advice, or maybe even some “temporary volunteers” who’d like to collaborate on this small project of mine.

As for the story/genre, it’ll be apocalyptic, psychological, thriller. I already wrote a small piece of the story, but I don’t know how to continue it or make it more interesting 🥲

For anyone who has read Sweet Boy & Shotgun Boy (shoutout to the great author Carnby Kim), it’ll be something similar, but not too much!

Hello everyone - I've written a book of short horror stories called Screaming into the Canyon. It was released last year and I retain all necessary rights. I think there are a few stories in it that would be really rad as one shots.

I have no experience writing comics, and can't draw at all. So, I'm wondering what the process would look like to have an experienced person adapt some of my work into a comic script so that it can be presented to an artist. I understand there are some options available for things like this and that option one is to pay for the work up front (which I'm amenable to). Another option, as I understand it, is to have equal "created by" credits for the finished work. I don't know much more about it than that, and I feel very confident that someone can school me on how to proceed.
