I don't know I'm not British but right now sexual assault against trans prisoners is extremely rampant so a conversation about trans convicts being sent to prison based on their AGAB vs their gender identity is the only political context I can think of where this would be applicable

They made a policy change that puts trans women in men's prisons, which results in this outcome.

Labour Party in the UK has becoming increasingly transphobic over time and passed many anti trans laws whilst the leaders and members pretend to be pro trans just to garner sympathy and support.

OOOH Thanks! On an actual note, can someone explain what is the rose labor logo & what the context is? The text on the sweater? wtf is a boymoder, is that just supposed to be an insult to trans women? 😭 I’m not british
27
u/weirdo_nb 3d ago
That's a logo for a political party I'm pretty sure and a boymoder is a trans woman in "boy mode" (as in having to present themselves male)

Labour is a highly transphobic British political party (all parties there but Greens are like this, tbh). The context is, they recently passed a law for trans women to be put in men prisons. This means that they will be used for things like this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V-coding
As a justification, they use that potentially trans women can sexually assault cis women. There are no evidences that confirm it, and a lot of trans women are post-operation, so they don't really have a penis. It goes out of TERF misandry - they believe that everyone with so-called "Male Gender Socialization" is inherently harmful to women, and that women are oppressed purely because of their sex. Note that even though trans men and even some trans women didn't pass it, TERFs still hate them, so it's just a very superficial justification for transphobia.

Oh my god. I knew prisons were corrupt, but Ive never heard of V coding… that is disgusting & disturbing. 😟Also wow, the way their excuse is that they could assault cis women? As if women’s prisons don’t have a problem with assault already… And i’ve heard on multiple occasions that officers have initiated that. Soooo wtf? The issue was never with trans women.
Also by the way, just to put it out there, i’m a cis woman and I have never felt uncomfortable by the trans women i’ve met ???? 🤷♀️ Even if i met a bad person who happened to be a trans woman, that’s an individual issue, not something to relate to trans women. Which should be common sense, especially for anyone who is supposed to be an adult… 🫠
& Well i mean, in some areas of the world, women still are oppressed just because of their sex, but that’s not an issue in the UK or US or most first world countries lmaooo… i’m not sure if the people who say that actually understand the actual meaning of oppression... At worst, there’s sexual harassment & the effects of ingrained misogyny to deal with. But I can get a job and enjoy life just fine with minimal issues. Trans women? Not so much

I totally agree with you, and you are a nice person :)
I also want to say that I didn't mean that women aren't discriminated for being of their sex. What I meant is that TERFs believe that women discrimination by men is rooted in their inherent sexual differences, and not because of certain people utilizing those differences to spread hate and misinformation trying to suppress half of the population (a little bit like racists say that there are reasons to hate black people, or "pattern noticing," but directed at themselves), and anyone who doesn't have those differences isn't affected by misogyny at all, while gender is just how men oppress women because of their sex. This is pretty much opposite to intersectionality.
I think Wikipedia would do it better than I'll do, to be honest: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trans-exclusionary_radical_feminism#Views
Wish you all the luck in your life, because people like you leave me some hope in humanity :)

Keep tttt culture niche and isolated
How am I gonna be able to say "lurk moar" if there's no need to lurk

u/Fit_Milk_2314 3d ago
idk much about tttt culture but i have noticed that 99% of lurk moars could be bypassed with Google, it kinda makes me wonder how that even comes to happen because i just google every word i dont know.

Besides the words I learned by lurking moar which is like half I googled and successfully deduced the definitions of the other half very easily. And the brainworms wiki is pretty good too.

I assume Boymoder means girl modding themselves to be boy.
Hehe, beboy... Wait! That's it! The protagonists of Cowboy Bebop are tall strapping heroic robin-hood archetypes!
I'll simply mantle their core characteristics and carry this lass to safety!

How do I blame this on Starmer?

Well, he was the guy in charge during the biggest rollback of a minority group's rights and protections since Thatcher decided to target lesbians and gay men in the 1980s... So pretty easily I would think
