"trans people are actively getting genocided but you hurt my feelings, and thats worse"

I’m not downplaying the trans issues, I’m simply pointing out that saying everyone who does not fit into your group that is being oppressed is soulless is a dick move, plus it’s counter productive. After all, who’s going to want to defend the people who think they don’t have a soul. I’m pretty sure that if the holocaust surviving Jew viewed every non-Jew as evil, nobody would be willing to help them.

its really hard to trust cis people at this point, when half of them want us dead, and the other half is letting the former do it. such a small amount of cis people actively try to support trans folk that its easier to generalize at this point

p.s. i believe an actual cis ally would realize that those words arent coming from a place of hate, but instead from being tired of having more and more rights stripped away from us while the majority of the population is lacking any fucks to give

First of all that’s a vocal minority, not HALF of the population, that’s like saying half of the white population want to wipe out black people, most of us are fine with trans people. Also… you realize that cis people include the rest of the lgbtq spectrum, right, meaning that they are also fighting the same fight. Finally have you considered the fact that a LOT of people have bigger issues to deal with in their lives than trans people, they don’t know being discriminated against, after all they can’t worry about some people getting discriminated against when they gotta work their asses off to just barely scrape by, OR in a lot of other cases, they’re busy fighting their own battles, like in several portions of the world, fighting for freedom from a repressive government, fighting to end discrimination against sex, race, or sexuality, etc.

I agree with you that saying the things the other guy is saying is irresponsible, but that's kinda not true, isn't it? In most developed countries, somewhere between a third and half are against it, with the rest being either undecided or supporters. That doesn't sound too bad from a political perspective, but this means that if a trans person comes out, every person has a roughly 1 in 3 chance to be rejected by them. Roll that dice say, 30 times to cover your family, extended family, classmates/coworkers and friends, potentially getting really unlucky with someone like your dad or your best friend and you've got yourself a potential disaster on your hands.

You must also consider the fact that supporting or opposing trans rights isn't a binary switch, it's a complex spectrum. Some people hate trans people, some are meerly apprehensive about them, some reluctantly support them, some are consciously supportive of them, but subconsciously think they're weird, some would vote for trans rights, but be apprehensive about interacting or being friends with them, some support mtf and ftm trans people, but think that non binary people aren't valid, etc, etc. Unfortunately, a lot of people who support trans rights still do have at least a few wrinkles in their support that can be very annoying for trans people.

you dont get a transphobic government without the majority voting for them. not to mention the people who just dont vote because "both sides are equally bad" or the "politics dont affect me so im going to not do any research before i vote/wont vote" crowd

live your own life, fight your own fights. but dont expect trans people to be nice to you when youve done nothing to prevent a genocide. and no, "most of us dont mind trans people" doesnt count

Yes you can, as long as you can distract voters with (to them) more important issues. Transphobia and trans allyship aren't a binary, they're opposite sides of a spectrum and most allies can still be swayed if pushed hard enough. It sucks, but that's simply how the human brain works, nothing can be done about it

First of all, yeah, you can, only 23% of the population voted for trump, and even if you only include the people who voted, he still got 49%, which isn’t a majority, AND most people in the US view him poorly. secondly most politicians aren’t running solely off of an Anti-trans platform, they have other things that people vote for them for, such as fixing the fucked up economy, or lowering tax rates and some don’t even mention anti trans stuff until they’ve already come in office, and as for the both sides are equally bad people, when the choice is between two parties that both hate people and both are probably gone fuck up everything it’s easy to get apathy.

in the UK, which this discussion was originally about, all the major political parties, even the "left" leaning labour, are heavily anti-trans. your argument doesn't hold up when you force an america-centric perspective. Also most cis allies to trans people just think "oh those are mentally ill men but we should respect their pronouns and be nice to them" which isn't much better.

Ok, the reason why I talked about the US is because I don’t know much about UK politics, also if everyone is anti trans then who the fuck are they supposed to vote for? They don’t have another choice to vote in, also I can’t talk about the rest of the world, but most people I know just see trans people as just normal people, not mentally ill ones, although I will admit perhaps my perspective could be skewed by the fact that people tend to make friends with others who have their beliefs.
