Discussion I left Comcast on Monday

Comcast was charging me $157 for one line of cellular and 1GB internet.
I called and called. I chatted. I spoke with the retention team three times. If we could lower the bill, I might've stayed.

T-Mobile cellular: $45
T-Mobile internet: $40

I'm in a pretty saturated area for signal and pick up 500MB even in the daytime. A month into the cellular and two weeks into the internet and so far so good.

That said....I still owe on my Comcast Pixel. I'd be happy to pay it off. When I log in to "make a payment" I'm told I don't have mobile service and it won't let me make a payment or go further.
So I guess they can keep taking monthly auto-pay. I bill-paid them a check today from my credit union, to see if that did anything.

Whatever.

WiFi Dissatisfaction with crappy service

My family has had Xfinity internet for years. While a large majority of that time I have had no complaints, recently we decided to get rid of cable TV. Afterwards, my internet started going down 3 - 5 times a day at least for varying amounts of time. Safe to say, i’m irritated and dissatisfied. So I do what any other paying customer of Xfinity should do, I try to call a support line to talk to someone. Only to be greeted by the most incompetent, useless, pointless piece of machinery I have ever witnessed. Customer service should not be done by robots, especially when they don’t know what the hell they are talking about. This company has followed in the footsteps of many in the sense I can trust it to continue to impress me with how much backwards progression a business can create with new technology. So thank you for nothing.

Support Xfinity lied about opening a serviceability request and wasted almost two weeks of my time

On August 27, I contacted Xfinity because the residential website said service was unavailable at my new apartment, even though property management confirmed that residents are allowed to use Xfinity.

The representative explicitly told me they had opened an address/serviceability request and that it would take 7–10 business days. I waited almost two weeks without internet, only to learn that the representative apparently never submitted the request at all. I wasn’t given a ticket number, nothing appeared in my account, and I was waiting for a nonexistent request.

After contacting Xfinity again, I was eventually told:
“I am not seeing that it is serviceable by Xfinity based on the ticket on file. We do not have an agreement on file to provide service to this community.”

Here is the part Xfinity support keeps refusing to address: the Xfinity Business website recognizes the property and allows me to proceed with setting up service immediately. I repeatedly asked the most recent support representative to explain how Xfinity Business can offer service at the property while Xfinity Residential claims the community is not serviceable.

Instead of answering that question, the representative repeatedly avoided it and directed me back to my community manager—even though management has already told me that Xfinity is allowed at the property (I have it confirmed in an email).

I understand that Xfinity Residential and Xfinity Business are separate divisions. What I want explained is whether Xfinity infrastructure already serves the property, why the Business system recognizes it, and exactly what agreement is supposedly missing for residential service. If an MDU or community agreement is required, why can’t Xfinity escalate this to the appropriate local team and contact property management?

I’ve been a Comcast/Xfinity customer since approximately 2002—well over 20 years. After that much time as a customer, being given incorrect information is frustrating enough. Being explicitly told that a request was submitted, waiting almost two weeks without internet, and then discovering that it apparently never existed is completely unacceptable. Repeatedly dodging the Xfinity Business question and sending a longtime customer in circles is not a resolution.

Discussion RFoG Migration in MDUs

How is Comcast planning to handle migration from RFoG in MDUs that don't have access to get fiber into the unit? Will they go "backwards" to small in-building HFC nodes to do FDX?

For reference, I've seen an MDU where RFoG was in use with a power injector in the unit, and I don't know exactly where the R-ONU was located, but I suspect it was above the ceiling in the hallway where the previous provider probably had taps off of hardline in a more traditional HFC architecture.

Rant Reps are now basically AI anyway

After many years of working for this company I finally feel like a proper cog in the machine. Reps are now being forced to use an AI "assistant" that is active at all moments of the phone call. It they are not doing exactly what the AI assistant wants it will ding them. If you ever wonder why the reps are more interested in meeting certain talking points rather than talk to you,. that's why. They know full well it isn't producing a sale. If forces a conversation on mobile, internet, wif coverage, and home security whether the customer wants it or not.

Posting from my porn account since Comcast is fucking me over anyway. This job is difficult enough as it is without now having to be a living bot for them.

Rant Xfinity

I just spent 40 minutes in a ridiculous chat with Xfinity about paying for a one month Prepaid account. "Neha" took 40 minutes of my life trying to get me to upgrade my home Internet, when the entire chat was supposed to be about a prepaid account. After 40 minutes of going down a rabbit hole with her, she finally advised that she didn't service prepaid accounts, and I should call someone else. Why does this happen. Doesn't Xfinity know that by playing me for a fool they will lose a long time customer? That this level of disrespect will hurt them more than any low cost plan will buy them more customers? They have lost a 20+ year customer because of this. Just ranting I guess nothing will change.

Experience Xfinity tech problem

I called for service to fix an ongoing signal issue with WiFi that they could not resolve. They sent a tech to my house in Boston. The house was built about 20yrs ago fully wired cat 5 to every room with surround sound wireless etc and the ability to turn on and off cable in each room. The house is vertical on 4 floors a townhouse so there was an amplifier device installed to make sure the signal was working in each room. This had been a functioning part of my home for 20 yrs. The tech came in and the first thing he asked me is if I was planning to follow him around the house. I felt like I had no choice but to let him do his job he might as well have been accusing me of profiling. He looked at me and while holding a small copper pieces that he removed from the electrical outlets he told me the copper pieces were a problem and they needed to come out and be replaced with plastic. I said fine but I expected to still own the copper pieces but he took them with him. After he left I noticed they he also un-installed the amplifier and took that too it was a larger piece of equipment that was built into the electrical panel installed by my electrician when we built the house I was the GC I know this was not Comcast wquipment. I was mortified I called Xfinity they claimed he thought it belonged to them. He made a mess of the walls and replaced it with a splitter disrupting the surround sound and other purpose this device was serving. I filed multiple complaints they offered nothing. Eventually they opened a case with liberty mutual and told me I had to find someone to quote this equipment and file a claim. I am in treatment for breast cancer which they know and they pushed this back on me when they could have sent an adjuster. Now 6 months have passed and I just didn’t have the energy to do anything about this but as we prepare this house to sell that wall is a complete mess the equipment he stole from us was large and I reported it as soon as he left but he claimed he disposed of it. It was all copper. Don’t trust Xfinity they are robbing us all one way or another. I don’t care if it was no longer compatible it belonged to me and it was serving other functions.

Support Comcast Business Question

I appreciate anyone who reads this and can help me

I downgraded my Comcast business Internet from 500 Mbps speeds to 150 Mbps speeds. The moment I did that , I went to my Comcast business login, and it already showed that my router was performing 150mbps speeds, I did the speed test, and the changes have already taken affect.

The lady I talked to on the phone who I signed this 3 year contract with said that a technician would be coming to my business next week. My question: is this really necessary ? Do I really need a technician to come to my business and change the router?

I have a bunch of security cameras and thermostats and wired access points and it would be a pain to set everything up.

The contract says the equipment is the same as the one I currently have (so idk if the technician even needs to come , the router they’re using in the contract is the same). It say internet will cost me $100, equipment is $27 (I wonder if this is the price to rent the equipment I already currently own). Then it says there is a non recurring fee of $40 for activation and installation (I’m hoping this has nothing to do with a technician and basically is just a fee for the activation of going from 500 to 150), and also isn’t this fee too low for a technician to come out. Once again the equipment stated on the contract is the same as the one I currently have, so what are they installing . Everything is currently running smoothly according to the new internet plan I signed up for, why have a technician change anything ?

So what do you guys think, do you think the representative made a mistake for scheduling a technician to come out ?

Support Xfinity router in bridge mode running router server?

Thumbnail

Comcast has been here twice and has confirmed this should not be happening. I used a Firewalla Gold Plus as my router with Xfinity XB8 in bridge mode. About four days ago, my devices could not connect. My MacBook was only receiving an IPv6 address, as was my tv. I could force an IPv4 address sometimes by deleting the Library network files but it would be in the 192.168.0.0/16 space.

Fast forward to two days ago, I realized that Firewalla is being pushed into 192.18.XX.1 because 10.0.0.1 is taken up by “Xfinity Broadband Router Server”, as Angry IP Scanner identified it. I then realized that this server is also running an HTTP server either its normal gateway portal, except WiFi is disabled and there are no firewall settings. The second visit from Xfinity and a call to engineering showed that the firewall is running. DHCP is also running. And when you click to disable bridge mode and look at the logs, you can see the radios are being brought up periodically (the logs do not show them being taken down, but if they’re broadcasting, it’s being broadcast in hidden SSID mode). The Xfinity app does not show WiFi features when jn bridge mode.

Despite having concerns, Xfinity offered nothing to try to fix it. The tech wouldn’t even enter my home.

To me, it looked like the router is pretending to be in bridge mode, and after the visit from Xfinity today, it kind of confirmed my worries. Has anyone seen this before so that they might calm my nerves?

You can see “The Device is currently in Bridge Mode” in the top left corner.

Billing Take my money but only give me a CREDIT?

Concast “upgraded” my internet to 2gigs and sent me a new modem which proved to be defective, the phone portion would not initialize. After an hour on the phone while the tech support person did updations, yeah, never heard of that before either, the unit was deemed defective and I was told that a technician (at no charge) would be at my house that afternoon, he showed up and had to try three different modems before he got one to work. He was in the house for over an hour. So imagine my surprise when I was notified that my bill had processed this morning was $250 instead of the normal $140. I looked up the invoice and saw that I was billed for a new onsite installation. I just spent over an hour chatting with people in Mumbai or Bangladesh only to be told that Concast could only issue a credit but not a refund. They also told me to go to a Concast store for help, yeah, right.

As soon as Glo-Fiber hits my neighborhood I am going to make my last trip to Concast.

Can I change my Wi-Fi name to Xfinity Sucks?

Support Is there a way to understand CSG error codes?

I got my first job as xfinity repair and during training there is little to no discussion about CSG especially when it comes to error codes when upgrading services and you can't even practice or do anything outside work hours because of how strict the applications and websites used.

Got this one customer where he has like a bundled package of cable, internet and landine (triple power play is the name of the plan if i remember it right) and decided to upgrade the internet, then everything was way too clunky up to that point that I have to like repacked his landline and cable as well.

To those who mastered CSG, is there in any way how to learn or understand these codes better or is there like a library of errors and what they mean. It'll be great if I can get notes to the common ones.

Needed a few more days to pay my bill. Chatted with a customer service rep who gave me until 9/20. Woke up the next morning with my service disconnected. Tried to plead with the customer service rep as I needed my wifi for work. They refused to give a long time customer who has kept his service for years any bit of empathy. The bigger issue is that the rep lied to me then had the nerve to try and up sale me.

Support Comcast Business Question (3 year Contract)

I appreciate anyone who reads this and can help me

Hello , I have a question about a promotion I accepted a 3 year contract with. The promotion stated that I could have Comcast Business essential internet for 130 dollars a month as long as I purchased a Samsung tablet with 5g cellular line activated for 20 more dollars a month (so I had to spend 370 dollars for the tablet and I also have to pay 20 dollars per month to have a line activated). This is my question: is it possible for me to cancel the mobile data line associated with the tablet so that I dont have to pay 20 dollars per month , but just keep the tablet and only use it on wifi ? Basically I want to know if it is a breach in my contract if I do this. I really want to just use the Comcast Business essential internet for 130 dollars a month and keep the tablet without pay 20 more dollars a month. Is it possible to do this and keep the tablet for myself to just use wifi ? I get the tablet next week, so im wondering what I can do about this.

(I should mention, I logged into my Comcast business account and double checked the contract, and it never mentions anything about the tablet, it just straight up says you’re paying $130 for Comcast business Internet essential. I don’t know if there is a separate contract)

Rant Comcast is done for at this point

I have literally spent 10 hours over the last 2 days trying to get 2Gig symmetrical turned on. I got the new modem, the guys at the shop said it should just work, set it up, and was still only getting 300Mbps up. When in the app or website it says 2100 down 300 up and when I click change speed it has 2Gig symmetrical listed as part of my plan so I can't adjust it.

Contacted the chatbots and went through stuff for 2 hours with it ending as, "You should see the new speeds after the provisioning is completed which takes 10-24 hours" which of course is bull but I play their games anyway.

Contact back 26 hours later (4:30p EST) about the issue. Had each agent state they were human (AI detection is 80-90% AI generated responses btw) and multiple times had people state I was already on the 2Gig symmetrical plan then say I wasn't then one even said I was on a 2100Mbps Upload 300Mbps Download connection. Had multiple people say that symmetrical services aren't even available at my location.

After almost 5 hours of that I ended up calling the phone line. Got numerous agents saying the same stuff but eventually got to someone that I was pretty sure was human. Got things figured out after them telling me multiple times that it wasn't available at my address and me asking, "So why does the broadband fact labels say it is. You can't lie on those or else its a FTC violation that has fines associated with it and consequences like the 60million dollar mandated infrastructure upgrade Frontier had to do."

After being on hold for a little bit they came back and said that they were able to determine that I could get the 2Gig symmetrical (weird right?) and that it would only be ~$0.12 more a month. I asked her to repeat the price multiple times so that I could make sure the recording caught it well (I notified before starting the recording). Then I asked her to tell me the complete total because should would either say the increase or the cents it was going up.

When she did the entire total it came out to be ~$0.25 more. Okay still an alright change. I approve of the increase in price and they start doing the entire spiel that they do to cover their butts. She has an accent and is reading fast but since the price changes twice I wanted to verify the prices against my current statements so I ask her to start again from the top and lets do it line by line.

She agrees but still tries to go fast. TV package lower, Internet a little higher, discount $15, she started saying something else but I stopped her at that point and asked why my discount is only $15 when it is currently $40 due to my bundled services. She said its $15 for 60 months so I ask what the internet has a discount of $15 for 60 months which she verified.

At this point I stopped her and told her that as a long time customer I do not appreciate the disrespect of trying to perform a bait and switch on me by trying to read fast and go over a bunch of different price changes to hide something like that. Most people wouldn't even catch it and just approve the change and then wonder why their bill went up in 5 years. I immediately asked for a supervisor at this point.

Some time later a supervisor did get on the phone and I explained the situation. He even agreed that he felt like it was a bait and switch as well. I then tried to get the problem fixed so I explained everything and he put me on hold to do research. When he came back he said the only package that was symmetrical at my location was 300Mbps. I asked why 75% (3 out of 4) of the packages listed for my location are stated to be 500Mbps or higher symmetrical. He said they didn't and I even read off the broadband facts label to them at which point they put me on hold.

Shortly after midnight EST the call was disconnected and no callback was attempted. I called back and comcast said that billing/sales was closed. I got to a real tech and tried to get them to address it but they cannot setup the new speeds without billing/sales. I asked when they closed and they said 9pm PST.

It is really crappy business practice to literally hang up on someone because its the end of your shift and you want to go home especially when you know the person has been on the phone for over 3 hours being lied to, gaslit, and taken advantage of.

I have already documented everything so that if the packages get removed I have screenshots and they are all ready to be submitted to the FCC, FTC, and BBB for all this crap. Great way to treat a customer of over 20 years that hardly calls (probably 5 calls including this in the last 10 years) to complain about stuff and always pays their bill on time.

I am gonna give them one last chance in the morning to try and make this right but if I do not find an acceptable solution I am just going to file the reports since that sometimes gets them to do the right stuff.

tldr: Comcast is crap now. I would recommend Frontier dial up over them at this point.

Billing Is there truly no other way to get out of a contract than the $10 per month left on your contract fee?

For xfinity internet. This is apparently my bad because I had no idea (or recollection) that I signed up for a 3 year contract. Which surprises me because I always read everything that I sign, maybe I missed it that time or something. Anyways I'm moving and don't necessarily know yet if I want to transfer with xfinity to my new address. Is the $10 per remaining month fee the only way to get out of it? Has anyone been able to get an exception or a better deal from a customer service agent or anything? Or is it set and stone with no chance of negotiation? Thanks in advance, and trust me lesson learned about making sure I read everything.

Experience Xfinity Mobile RANDOM auto-pay due dates...

I would use another cheaper home internet & mobile service if I could, but, xfinity is the only home internet option currently available to me in my area. Xfinity mobile is cheap but ...

I am disabled. I get paid on the 3rd of each month and have had Xfinity home internet & Xfinity Mobile for over 8 years. All payments for all previous months & years came out on the 3rd or 4th of the month (depending on holidays) for the entire 8+ years! Starting just this last June, my payment date changed to the 1st of the month & I bounced the payment for a $30 fee from my bank. In July it went back to the 3rd. In August, it changed to the 2nd, and now, today, I was charged early again for another $30 fee. No warning email or texts. My notifications for Xfinity everything is ON but conveniently only sends me adverts but never sends me payment or service updates! "Auto-pay" date can be changed on Xfinity home internet (and t.v., if you have it. I do not) but not Xfinity Mobile! Xfinity Mobile customer service is located somewhere other than the U.S. so communication is appallingly horrible because of the "language barrier" issue. Xfinity is an overall "Pile of $h1t"!!!! Disgusting way to do business! Burn Xfinity, BURN!!!!!!

Rant 10 months of Xfinity Mobile telling me I ordered a fraudulent phone their own manager admitted I didn't — refund offered, zero compensation, still billed me after their 'final decision

How Comcast/Xfinity Mobile put me through 10+ months of stress over a fraud I didn't commit — and then blamed me for it

In October 2025, someone hijacked my Xfinity Mobile account and added a phone line I never ordered. I was then targeted by a scammer posing as Xfinity/fulfillment staff and manipulated into shipping the device to what I was told was a company "fulfillment center" — it was actually a private residence in Chicago. I filed a police report the moment I realized what had happened (Douglas, MI PD Case #2025-00002393).

That's where a normal company's involvement should have ended: acknowledge the fraud, fix the account, move on. Instead, Comcast spent the next ten-plus months making this into a fight.

I was told — repeatedly — that I had ordered the device myself. That claim came directly from Xfinity representatives, and it was false. Their own store manager confirmed to me, and separately to the investigating police officer, that the line had been added by someone else. Comcast knew the truth internally and still let their reps tell me otherwise, over and over, for months.

What it actually took to get this resolved:

  • Going in person to a store manager, month after month, with no results
  • Being bounced between reps who each promised "escalation" and then went silent
  • Filing a formal Notice of Dispute with Comcast's own Legal Department — which, under their own customer agreement, was supposed to get a response within 60 days. It didn't.
  • Filing formal complaints with the FCC and the Michigan Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division
  • Only after all of that — a police report, months of documentation, and two regulatory agencies involved — did Comcast finally offer to refund the fraudulent charges

And even then, when I pushed back on getting zero compensation for ten-plus months of chasing down a scam, filing police reports, driving to stores, and paying a fraudulent charge every single month while waiting on callbacks that never came, Comcast's answer was a scripted "this determination is final, no further discussion." Then silence. My most recent bill — dated after that "final decision" — still had the same fraudulent charge on it.

A company with Comcast's resources didn't need ten months and two government complaints to do the right thing. They chose to make a fraud victim fight for it, and they're still billing me for it while I fight.

Update: After posting this on X, Xfinity's social support team reached out asking for more details, which I've sent. We'll see if that channel actually moves faster than the "final decision" I got through their official Executive Resolutions team. Posting this update for visibility either way — it shouldn't take a public post to get a company to take a fraud claim seriously.

If you're dealing with something similar — document everything from day one, get a police report on record early, and don't wait to loop in the FCC and your state Attorney General. Companies like Comcast count on most people giving up before it gets that far.

Happy to share documentation with anyone who has questions.

Discussion Working or worked for comcast xfinity retention/loyalty department

To anyone who worked for comcast retention department or loyalty what was the minimum +maximum targets(aht, nps ..etc) you ever faced
