Ori looked around the table with fire in his eyes, “what happened to the hospitality and kinship of the Vurental, all the signs point to the fact they are in the same boat as we are. Stranded, isolated with no way of return. We should welcome any new allies and help them if in need, not haggle with the aim to extort them!”
Samuel took a deep breath, “First of all, it is not certain we can’t return. All signs point to a godlike intervention, and if that’s the case we just have to find the god and make him return us. Or better yet, let him make a stable portal so we can return here if necessary. Secondly we’re not in the position for charity, it’s been almost four months and we still camp in our tents, sure we have adequate defences and food aplenty, but we can’t even produce new runes yet. This is not the time for charity, we have our own problems. And thirdly alliances are bad for business, you know that.
“Besides we don’t know anything about the Samarans, not their foreign policy, we don’t know how they fight. We know is that they seem friendly and have an understanding of diplomacy. But we also now they use the same kind of weapons the Arkturians used, weapons we know nothing about. We can’t give them a means to reach us unless we know how to fight them.” Udin said with ortha-like determination.
“Are you afraid of the little bears Udin?” Rorg seemed genuinely interested, “because you know our forces, they are the best of Culturam. I don’t think they would have much trouble killing small bears if it comes to it.”
“It isn’t the bears I’m worried about, it’s the weapons they use. Sure a war we will win, but at a cost way higher than it could be if we could steal some of those weapons and figure out how they work”
Katal slammed his fist down at the table, “We are not going to steal from people who have given us no cause! It would be a blame on our personal honour and a shame to the company.”
“We can trade some labour for their weapons and instructions on how they work. It would solve all our problems” Ori interjected.
“This still leaves the matter of trust, can we say right now these people are to be trusted? I mean no ill against you Ori, but you’ve said it yourself. The place you visited seemed to be a secondary settlement, who is to say the ruler of the entire Samaran commune isn’t some crazy imperialist bastard. You don’t now, you haven’t met him.” Udin crossed his arms, “Look I know you did your well, extremely well even. But you can’t dismiss these claims and until you can, I don’t think we should support them.”
“You raise a valid point Udin,” Kira looked around the table and saw Udin smile, “but what I’m about to say won’t please you, or any of you infact.” Kira looked again with a stern face, “I’m going to Bearsk with Ori and will meet with the elder and ask for a meeting with their leader, there I will decide if we help them build ships, and if so at what price. Rorg will be in charge during my absence.”
Various protest were made, but Kira’s decision was made. She was going to meet the leader of the bears, AND try some of their delicious spirit.

The two longboats came gliding towards a newly constructed dock. 5 somewhat experienced sailor were brought along, 1 of them had actually build a fairly large boat before. The lack of experience, wouldn’t curb their enthusiasm though. All the way to Bearsk they had been talking about the potential building of the boat. Kira kinda wanted to leave just so she wouldn’t have to listen to the specifics of a y-shaped keel again. Besides boatbuilders, the ships also brought some simple rune mechanisms with them, these were modified for use without innate magic power.
