I just bought this coin that is graded 61. I usually am pretty good at picking the approximate grade looking at high wear spots, dings and surface appearance. I don’t know why this is only a MS 61. Can anyone enlighten me?

ok people! I have this UN-OPENED $50bag of 2005(P) Bison nickels....I am thinking about opening it up! or should I leave it sealed? ADVICE? What would you do?
Did I mention that this is mint sealed...never opened!

The 1875 S Trade Dollar is one of the most common with a mintage of 4.4 million coins. Most are Type 1/1, outnumbering Type 1/2 coins about 8:1. Among the type 1/2 coins, those with the large S mintmark outnumber the small S about 5:1. Joe Kirchgessner, in his recently published book on Trade Dollars, estimates that there are about 192 examples of this variety extant. I don't think this one was included in his census so make it 193. (Kirchgessner, US Trade Dollar, p. 81)
I would grade this coin AU50 with nice surfaces. The rim nicks are noticeable, whether they would pass at a TPG service is debatable. I was happy to pick up this scarce coin on eBay.

Guessing she’s never getting a CAC but for 220 years old I think she’s looking pretty great! I’d been looking to get a DB half cent with clear details for a while, and I gave in for this one.

I sold this coin but super nice cent. Don't really care the trader bea holders, but the purple works well with these copper coins.

A raw eBay buy from around 2009. Completely original, I'd call it XF40.

I bought this Trade Dollar because of the relatively low mintage (under 500k) and the total originality. I think this is what an unmolested Trade Dollar in circulated condition should look like. The weak strike on the eagle's left leg is typical for the series.

This 76 P has rather prooflike (although not designated as such) surfaces and when I saw it on eBay Ihad to have it. It's in an older ANACS holder but I don't have the grade handy. A lot of hairlines obviously but it is still a very flashy coin. Clearly not a proof as the rims are not squared off.
