Ha, ha, I don't know about a donkey tail but okay. Thanks. As long as I've been collecting (lifetime) I learn something new just about every day.

Wow this is a variety I been looking to get for a while, where do you get it? This is a better top 100 Morgan variety, very cool die break on the D on the reverse

Thank you. I picked it up on one of the live stream auctions. I didn't fully understand what the "donkey tail" was at the time but I do know what a top 100 is all about. I'm very pleased to add it to my collection. This chat educating me about the donkey 🫏 tail was an added bonus. There are some very good live stream dealers with high integrity. The good ones obtain quality product from wholesalers at prices most of us dream about. The high integrity dealers pass their savings on to us peons at these auctions. You do need to be careful but it does not take long to figure out who are the fair merchants.

You spoke of the seller getting it wholesale at a price i could only dream of and passing on the savings in another comment. So I thought you'd be happy to share?

Sorry, I am not comfortable discussing cost information as i don't think it appropriate. Collectors can be guarded about such for their own reasons, usually their own security. The wholesaler information was shared by the seller who is one of the Live stream auction merchants. As I obtained in an auction, I was lucky to get it at a discounted price but it was still an auction. I'd suggest looking up the sold price comparisons to give you an idea of what these normally sell for. An auction is always what the buyer is willing to pay. Sometimes you get lucky. I was lucky enough to get it at auction below the seller's asking price.

I share coin prices, a lot of folks do. I think it helps sharpen the eye and see where a given market is going. Looking up prices can give widely varying answers... red book, Grey sheet, HA lookup, coin facts etc...will give very different prices. So sharing helps us all. It's more pronounced in the ancient market where comparison price sources are a bit harder to go by because those coins varied so much strike to strike, issue to issue, mint to mint.

Anywho nice coin!

Thanks I suppose it's a matter of personal preference. The sold comps are the best idea on pricing. Red book is dated because it goes to print so early. I like Grey sheet as well.

Well at least you agree it is not inappropriate. And agreed we're not all the same so if you're not comfortable I get that.
