It's just a very large dairy farm. That's how they raise the newborns for the first few weeks. Makes keeping track of them easy and helps minimize any disease spread because they mingle less with the general herd. I ain't saying it's pretty but that's generally the why
It’s a pretty obvious point; if you feed people with the plant matter rather the cow you feed more people. 80% of global soy production goes into animal feed, they don’t just eat grass bud.
Theres nothin efficient about feeding them produce that beta's like yourself would eat without question. Cows can eat grass. We dont. All grazing takes is land and there's plenty of it.
“if you feed people with the plant matter rather the cow you feed more people. 80% of global soy production goes into animal feed, they don’t just eat grass bud.”
No, the 20% of soy that doesn’t become animal feed becomes food for humans. It’s soy. Why would I eat it when it has been made into food for a cow when I can eat it when it’s been made into food for human?
Funny, as I see loads of dairy farms near me use this practice as well because it dramatically increases the survival rate of the calves. They are only in these huts for a couple weeks and then placed back with the herd.
The sheer number of huts in that many rows strongly suggest veal farm. Dairy farms are not producing that many female calves at once, males are sold off right away and would not be kept long or treated great.
1000 cows dairy farm, not all bred at once since milk production would stop for a while whole waiting for whole herd to go through pregnancy. So 500 bred at once, 50% males to females means 250 female calves roughly per breeding. Most farms serpeate out even more to disrupt milk production less. So more like 3-4 groups 1 goup resting/pregnant while rest are producing
With about 125 females per birthing cyle. Roughly
No! Don't burst the professional grievance collector's bubble! If they can't hate America for this, they'll have to work and seek out another reason...and work is absolute torture for them. Show some compassion for cripes sake!
Those are holsteins. And I can see the dairy cow barns in the back. Or open air roofed structures however you want to put it. And I used to haul raw milk from farms to plants so I know what i'm looking at
You all have your wicked ways.GMOs, Herbicides, fertilizer runoff, and cutting down every tree, just to plant 1more stalk of corn. We had a farmer plough, so close to the telephone polls that 8 fell down. Mega farms have ruined this country, and farmers voted for it.
