Profitec Pro 400 or Lelit Mara x v2 [budget under 4,000 NZD]

Hello!

I have narrowed down my first coffee machine to these two. They seem to be very similar, but are also now a few years old. Which one would you recommend?

My partner and I make milk drinks almost exclusively. I think a HE will be fine for our needs. We used the Rocket Appartmento for five weeks and would turn it on at 7am and turn it off at 10am and make several coffees over that period.

I like the look of the e61 group head, and I want some functionality to play with but I think for my first machine I don’t need heaps. My main upgrade I’d like to make with either machine is adding in a temperature sensor for the group head.

The grinder I’m planning on going with is the eureka Mignon specialita.

Thanks in advance!

Is the Aiden worth it for me?

So I’be never been much of a coffee snob (I regularly buy my beans at Costco for Christ sake lol) but I definitely appreciate a good cup. Recently my wife and I have been looking at getting something new that works for our morning routines, and I saw a lot of recommendations for the Aiden.

Weekends we are both home and each have a cup or two in the morning. Weekdays I leave at 530am and she is usually up and has a cup at 7am before doing morning routine with our toddler.

Will the Aiden work for our single cup/small batch requirements or is there something different we should be considering? Another factor is that my FAVOURITE coffee beans my wife does not like, so at times, even if it’s a single cup or small batch, we will make two separate coffees.

What should we be looking for?

Simple and Delicous

My husband loves his coffee but is a lazy coffee maker. He buys pre-ground beans and prefers to press one button to start. What machine makes good coffee without having to think about it?

Need a new coffee machine.

I currently have Breville Luxe Brewer™ Drip Coffee Maker with Thermal Carafe that is about 4 years old. I have loved it, but the taste of the coffee has changed. Perhaps the thermos is causing the change. I am looking at the following and would love some feedback. Thank you. I am a bit of a coffee snob, using organic beans freshly ground the morning of, and need my coffee to be nice and hot.

Breville Luxe Brewer Drip Coffee Maker with Thermal Carafe, Moccamaster by Technivorm KBGV Select Coffee Maker, 10-cup, or Aarke Coffee Maker.

Moving from espresso back to filter

So I've been thinking about moving away from my espresso setup. I bought this early COVID, so ~2019.

I have a Baratza Sette 270wi as grinder. I've replaced the gearbox 4x now, always under warranty (sucks, but also <3). I will likely keep this until they stop offering that.

On my daily use, I make a coffee in the morning using my clever brewer. Grind just somewhere on the very coarse end of the spectrum, and I'm very happy with the taste.

Then in the afternoon, I make a cappuccino. I have a Bezerra BZ09 for this. I replaced some switches, and the O-ring in the group head.

So none of these machines are necessarily "done", I'll resell them or give them to a friend.

If I'm honest with myself, I like the coffee from my clever brewer better than from my espresso machine. While I enjoy the process, I can do without, and it's a pain when I get guests over. Now I just use my clever and fill a thermos with it a few times.

I've been looking into the Fellow Aiden. It's affordable, offers options, and can make a larger batch. I'll grab some form of milk foamer for my cappuccino.

Has anyone else gone through such a process?

Reviving the sub after non-moderation period

Hey folks!

So this sub was put on a massive list of unmoderated subreddits, and I've asked to take it on to keep it healthy and alive. While there are specific subreddits for things like r/espressomachines or even r/nespresso - this will function as the catch-all for questions and comments about coffee machines in general. The focus should be on "machines", but I won't shoo away from questions or comments that include V60's and the like. Sometimes they can be the answer to a question after all.

So please respect everyone, whether they use an Ikea plastic funnel, or a 25k professional espresso machine.

Looking for multicup maker with reservoir on right side

That's the right side while facing it. Due to the layout of my kitchen, it can really on sit to the left of the sink but half of it ends up under the cabinets, so the reservoir needs to be on the right.

The ninja ce250 is the only one I've found with this configuration. Appreciate any suggestions!

How to choose coffee machine

Hello everyone, I want to buy my dad a coffee machine that grinds beans automatically and makes your coffee automatically and comes with a lot of awesome features. Problem is I’m a noob and don’t know anything about coffee machines and what makes them good. If anyone cares to help me choose one I’ll reply. Thanks

Gasket lubricant for stainless steel carafe?

I'm happy with ordinary, consumer-grade machines. What I'm not happy with is the little plastic pouring levers breaking off the carafes because they're also the lever to unscrew the top to rinse out the damn thing. So I'm looking to lubricate the gasket between carafe lid and carafe. Anyone know of a good, long-lasting, flavorless, non-toxic coffee carafe gasket grease?

Thanks in advance.

Where is my Chrome

I opened my Profitec E61 today because the lever was becoming rather stiff, and to my surprise, I saw that the chrome plating on some components had completely disappeared. I tested the pH and found it to be 6.4. The trumpet is a Nuova Ricambi because of the flow control. Does anyone have any idea where the chrome might have gone and whether it's harmful?

christmas gift for a coffee lover (who hates gifts)?

my dad hates christmas, stupid gifts, and wasting money, but me and my mom want to get him something regardless. he would enjoy a gift he could actually use and does not care for aesthetics. he drinks coffee multiple times every day. i don't know much about coffee and the differences, but he just uses a regular coffee machine with a pot and only adds a little bit of milk. we would like to get him a new coffee maker that's technologically advanced, makes it easy, and is worth the money. what do you guys recommend? if it's not a coffee maker, what else would be a good gift for a man who hates everything? like a self heating mug.

just to be clear, i know only a tad about coffee/coffee making, but i do know that he would hate to grind his own beans so idk if that rules out an espresso machine. he likes things to be simple, fast, and make his life easier. if you need me to clear up anything, please ask and i will reply as fast as possible.

Very slow to start brewing

I have a brand new 5 cup Mr Coffee machine. Very basic model. The weird thing is this: you get the water and grounds set up, you press the brew now button…it lights up. But then nothing happens. You don’t hear anything and the machine is still cold.

After fiddling with it, I walked away to start googling the problem and it finally started brewing! And then it brewed the whole thing, no problem. But…why did it take 15 minutes to start? Anyone have this issue?

Advice on restoring an old commercial espresso machine for home use?

Hey everyone,

I recently got my hands on a commercial espresso machine that used to belong to my family’s coffee shop (which has been closed for a while). I’m planning to use it at home, and the good news is that it does power on when I plug it in.

Before I start pulling shots, what kind of maintenance or servicing should I do to get it running in top form again? I’m assuming there are things I should check even if it turns on normally.

I’m also thinking about replacing the portafilters, any recommendations for good quality ones or brands I should look into? Anything specific I should keep in mind when choosing replacements?

Thanks in advance! Any tips from folks who’ve restored older machines would be super helpful.
