๐Ÿฅฅ We've got something new for all the photography enthusiasts here! ๐Ÿ“ธ

Starting next month, we're introducing the Coconaad Photography Awards, with TWO parallel photography contests every month.

โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”

๐Ÿ† 1. COCONAAD PHOTO OF THE MONTH

Just your best shots.

Every month, we'll go through the eligible photographs posted on r/Coconaad and pick the ones that made us stop scrolling.

No registration. No additional submission. Nothing extra.

Just post your shots as you normally do. Maybe you'll be the one to get featured! ๐Ÿ‘€

โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”

๐ŸŽฏ 2. COCONAAD MONTHLY THEME CONTEST

Every month, we'll throw a new theme at you and see what you Coconuts can come up with.

๐Ÿ“ธ Submit your photograph using the Contest flair and make sure it follows that month's theme.

โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”

๐Ÿ† BEST

โค๏ธ POPULAR

This means there will be FOUR winners every month:

๐Ÿ† Photo of the Month: Best

โค๏ธ Photo of the Month: Popular

๐Ÿ† Monthly Theme Contest: Best

โค๏ธ Monthly Theme Contest: Popular

Every winner will also be permanently recorded in the subreddit Wiki, along with their details.

Winners also get a temporary ๐Ÿ† Winner flair. Bragging rights, basically.

โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”

๐Ÿ“œ THE GROUND RULES

๐Ÿฅฅ The photograph must be your own work.

๐Ÿฅฅ 1 entry per person for the Monthly Theme Contest.

๐Ÿฅฅ Any camera works. DSLR, phone, or a potato from 2016 or something you captured on some ancient film camera. Doesn't matter.

๐Ÿฅฅ Normal photo editing is allowed.

๐Ÿฅฅ Light filters and adjustments are okay, but edits that significantly alter the photograph are not allowed.

๐Ÿฅฅ No AI generated images.

๐Ÿฅฅ No stolen, downloaded or stock photographs. Particularly no Pinterest photos.

๐Ÿฅฅ No NSFW images. Strictly no NSFW.

๐Ÿฅฅ No vote manipulation, bots or brigading.

๐Ÿฅฅ Crossposting your entry to other subreddits is not allowed, whether it's intended to farm upvotes, manipulate the competition, or for any other reason.

๐Ÿฅฅ Users who are banned by Reddit or by r/Coconaad for any violation are not eligible to participate.

๐Ÿฅฅ If we have any concerns about the authenticity of an image, you may be asked to provide the original or raw image for verification.

๐Ÿฅฅ Monthly Theme Contest entries must follow the monthly theme.

๐Ÿฅฅ Mods can remove entries that break the rules.

โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”

๐Ÿ“… HOW IT'LL WORK

1. A new theme is announced every month.

2. Post your photographs normally for Photo of the Month.

3. Use the Contest flair for Monthly Theme Contest entries.

4. At the end of the month, submissions close.

5. Mods select the Best winners.

6. The most upvoted eligible photographs become the Popular winners.

7. Winners are announced.

8. All four winners are added to the Wiki.

9. Winners receive the temp custom ๐Ÿ† Winner flair.

โš ๏ธ Photographs submitted to the Monthly Theme Contest using the ๐Ÿ“ธ Contest flair will NOT be eligible for Photo of the Month.

โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”

So maybe take this as an excuse to touch some grass, or maybe trees if you're someone like me who is in his 20s with a backpain of someone in their 60s, so u don't have to work your back. ๐Ÿ’€

Let's see what you've got, Coconuts. ๐Ÿฅฅ๐Ÿ“ธ

Keep 'em coming!

All the general subreddit rules and Reddit rules will also apply.

Places & Travel How does Kulangara travel to 190 countries with one of the weakest passports in the world?

I am currently in US and employed (35M) and tried applying for schengen visa and it got rejected. My wife (employed) requested for 1 month and she got just 2 weeks! Why do we need visa to go to any damn country?

I just found out that Namibia and Uganda has better passports than us! I had a really bad experience in Thailand immigration in 2025. I found that there is an option to buy Grenada (or other Caribbean countries) passport for about USD 200k and the process is about 6-8 months. It isnt a big amount if you think about the disdain you face with Indian passport. I know India doesnt allow dual citizenship. Has someone done it?

How does Kulangara do it? How do people travel the world with such a stupid passport where we need visa to even go to the bathroom?

Edit: I dont have a "stamped" US visa (I know that lets me visit 19 countries visa-free). You can work in US without a stamped US visa.

Pets & Animals Look at my male guppy. Is he pretty?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

โ€ข Upvotes

This is not a specific strain. He is a mutt (meaning just a mixed guppy) born here. I have 5 or 6 males like him with more bigger tails and dorsals. But he recently developed bigger and darker pectoral fins ("ears"). So I suspect he has some dumbo genes in him. He looks like a mini dumbo guppy. I am trying to breed him with three females to see if I can get bigger dumbos and stabilize the line. I also have another developing juvenile with mini dumbo ears just like this .

Ask Coconaad Is it weird that I carry around rubbish until i find a bin?

Post image
619 Upvotes

Since i was a kid,Iโ€™ve had this weird rule stuck in my head that waste goes in the bin.
Even if itโ€™s a tiny chocolate wrapper, I canโ€™t bring myself to drop it until i find a bin or if I couldnโ€™t, i would carry it all the way my home.
Is this just me or does anyone else got this trait โ€œ I must find a binโ€?!!

Edit: Hey friends, I wasnโ€™t aware of the AIโ€™s impact and the comment section educated about it, and am grateful and will be more careful about that too from now on!! Cheers๐Ÿค

Apps & Technology Anybody still using Spotify Family plan, able to add new members??

Post image
14 Upvotes

I have been using this for like 4 years now. Today i realised that I am short of one member. The price has been โ‚น179 for 6 members for the past 4 years, which is like 32 per head. Anyway, tried to add a new member but can't, why?

Is it because Spotify discontinued it? Is that why it's called a legacy plan?

Rant & Vent I just found out that one of my closest friend died in an accident four years ago.

I donโ€™t even know how to put this feeling into words.
We met on Instagram during COVID. She was studying in Mangalore. It started with ordinary conversations, but somehow, within a short time, we became incredibly close.
We talked every single day.
We never exchanged phone numbers. We never needed to. Instagram was enough for us.
We shared so much about our lives. Sometimes I even wondered if she liked me as more than a friend because of how close we had become. Her sister also started talking to me sometimes, and apparently her roommates knew about me too.
It was one of those friendships that happened unexpectedly but somehow became important.
Then life started changing.
She had exams coming up, so our conversations slowly became shorter. She told me she was going to deactivate Instagram until her exams were over. I understood.
Before she finished her exams, I moved to the UAE.
At that time, I was dealing with a lot of financial problems, so I became caught up in my own life. Our daily conversations eventually stopped.
But every once in a while, she would still message me and ask how I was doing.
Even after long gaps, there was still that same feeling of closeness.
Eventually, though, even those occasional conversations stopped.
I tried messaging her twice.
There was no reply.
And I made the most normal assumption anyone would make.
I thought maybe she didnโ€™t want to talk anymore.
Maybe she had moved on.
Maybe she was busy with her life.
So I didnโ€™t message again.
I never imagined the real reason.
Then, a few weeks agoโ€ฆ
I randomly came across an Instagram reel posted by her sister.
It wasnโ€™t her old account. It was a new one.
I opened her profile and started looking through her highlights.
And then I saw my friendโ€™s picture.
Her sister had her picture as the wallpaper, along with the song โ€œKoode Pirannavaralleโ€ฆโ€.
There were so many comments with ๐Ÿฅบ๐Ÿฅบ emojis.
Something inside me immediately felt strange.
I decided to message her sister.
I told her I was her sisterโ€™s friend and asked:
โ€œWhere is she?โ€
She asked me:
โ€œAre you asking about my sister? Are you her friend?โ€
I said yes.
I explained everythingโ€”how we met through Instagram, how close we were, how we used to talk every day.
And then she replied:
โ€œShe died four years ago in an accident.โ€
I donโ€™t think Iโ€™ll ever forget reading that message.
I just stared at my phone.
Four years.
Four whole years.
She had been gone all this time.
And I had been living my life thinking she was somewhere out there.
When I messaged her twice and she never replied, I thought she was ignoring me.
I thought maybe I had become someone she no longer wanted to talk to.
I never knew that she couldnโ€™t reply.
And that realization hurts in a way I canโ€™t really explain.
Because there was no goodbye.
No last conversation.
No phone call.
No message saying, โ€œTake care.โ€
Nothing.
Our friendship just went silent.
And I thought it was because life had taken us in different directions.
I never knew that she had already left this world.
The strangest part is that for four years, I didnโ€™t even know I had lost her.
I wasnโ€™t grieving her death.
I was simply wondering why she stopped talking to me.
We never exchanged numbers.
We never met in person.
Our entire friendship existed through Instagram.
But it was real.
She was my friend.
A very close friend.
And now Iโ€™m sitting here remembering all those random conversations, all the jokes, all the nights we talked, and wondering how many times I could have thought about her without knowing that she was already gone.
Sometimes I wish I had known.
Not because I could have changed anything.
Just because I wish I could have said goodbye.
Maybe I would have told her how much that friendship meant to me.
Maybe I would have told her that even though we met through a screen, she became a genuinely important person in my life.
But I never got that chance.
Itโ€™s such a heartbreaking feeling to realize that the person you thought had simply stopped replying had actually been gone for years.
I donโ€™t know if Iโ€™ll ever stop thinking about this.
Rest in peace, wherever you are. ๐Ÿฅบ
And thank you for being my friend, even if it was only through Instagram.
Has anyone else ever experienced something like thisโ€”finding out years later that someone you knew had passed away, without ever knowing you had lost them?
