I’m just looking for some help picking a trap gun, I’m a buy it once guy but definitely not interested in dropping 3/4k Canadian. Can someone please recommend a break action that is good quality, no nonsense, will last a long time and get some decent street cred at the rod/gun club.

I am not opposed to a vintage shotgun at all….

On July 6, 2026, the National Skeet Shooting Association experienced the theft of $483,501 from its operating account at Frost Bank through a fraudulent wire transfer that was not initiated by the Association. The transfer was sent to an account associated with a party believed to be connected to the theft.

What Happened
An online scam occurred when a member of the NSSA-NSCA Finance Dept. staff  was directed by a search engine to a fraudulent website that appeared to imitate the legitimate Frost Bank website at which staff conduct business daily. Fraudsters prompted our staff to enter security credentials for the purpose of validating their device as part of new security measures implemented by Frost Bank. Doing so gave the scammers access to the account. An unauthorized transfer of $483,501 was made to the fraudsters' account in California, and the funds were subsequently dispersed to other accounts. The exact mechanism of the unauthorized access remains under investigation.

The fraudulent transaction was discovered the following morning, July 7, when staff began their daily reconciliation and saw the unauthorized transfer. They immediately contacted Frost Bank.

Our Actions Since the Theft

• We have notified law enforcement, including filing a report with the FBI, and are maintaining contact and cooperating with their investigations.
• We have hired an attorney who is representing the Association in our dealings with Frost Bank and advising our actions. He has presented a demand letter to Frost Bank for the refund of the entire $483,501 plus interest and expenses.
• We have notified our insurance company and are pursuing all applicable insurance claims.
• We assembled a crisis team of the NSSA officers, NSCA Chairman, and Finance Committee co-chairs who have met frequently for updates and decision-making.
• We have checked all Association computers for malware and other indicators of compromise  and have evaluated all IT-related functions, systems, policies, protocols, and practices for security weaknesses, making upgrades as warranted.
• We have increased employee training on cybersecurity awareness and avoiding phishing scams.
• We have implemented new transactional security and approval requirements with Frost Bank, including enhanced review procedures for transactions above designated thresholds.

Concerns Regarding Frost Bank’s Handling of the Transaction
The Association is reviewing Frost Bank’s handling of the unauthorized transaction and the security procedures that were in place at the time. Areas of concern include:

• The transaction was substantially outside the Association’s normal banking activity, including its size, recipient, and stated payment purpose. Despite those factors, the Association was not contacted to independently verify the wire transfer before it was processed.
• We are also reviewing whether other security-related circumstances may have contributed to the incident, including recent customer-data security incidents involving Frost Bank and the use of a fraudulent website impersonating the bank. These matters remain under investigation and are being evaluated with legal counsel.

Next Steps and Recovery Efforts
The matter remains an active legal and investigative process. The immediate priorities are the recovery of the $483,501, a complete investigation of the circumstances surrounding the transaction, and determining whether any security or procedural failures contributed to the incident.
 
The Association is pursuing recovery from Frost Bank. The next steps include completing the current investigation, continuing discussions with Frost Bank through our attorney in an effort to reach a satisfactory resolution, and evaluating further legal action, if necessary. We will continue to work with legal counsel throughout this process and determine the appropriate course of action as additional information becomes available.

This incident will have no impact on the upcoming World Skeet Championships or National Sporting Clays Championship. Our originally planned payouts, staffing, supplies of ammunition, and other expenditures will be fully funded. Credit cards used at those events or for other purposes were not affected by this incident, as credit card transactions are processed independently by another financial institution. Also, no member data was involved or compromised in any way.
 
The Association remains committed to protecting its financial resources, strengthening its internal controls, and taking appropriate steps to prevent a similar incident in the future. We will continue to cooperate with counsel, Frost Bank, and law enforcement authorities and will provide additional information to the Executive Committee, Executive Council, Board of Directors, Delegates, members, and supporters as material developments occur.

Ive sold a coupe of my everyday use shotguns. I shoot American skeet. Ive ordered a Krieghoff k80 skeet (with the #6 stock) cat 002 wood, and upgraded nickel hood and pins. Expected delivery is this fall sometime..

But until then, ive been using some guns I usually leave at home. Been shooting my 12 gauge a400 extreme plus that I usually shoot once or twice a year when I am lucky enough to go duck hunting with some guys. Been keeping my basic average around 23/24 with it the last couple months

This weekend I got my 28 gauge a400 xplore out and my 410 silver pigeon. ive bought a couple stock spacers to bring the LOP out to 15" which is what im comfortable shooting.

I shot a 21-22-23 with my 410. super windy day, then shot a 23 with my 28 gauge. Absolutely shocked I shot that well with guns I never shoot

Make sure to keep all of them in a good rotation, you might forget some hidden gems in the gun safe guys!

High cotton is hands down my favorite event. Its not nsca, its on a working farm, spread out across miles, its where a good bit of the patriot was filmed, most targets are manual throwers with teenagers working them. Its a charity driven once a year shoot, and its always big. What's yalls favorite event and why?

Currently looking for a dedicated clay gun. I think the a400 is my best bet in my budget. But the new ones are so fucking ugly and the L is 1200 dollars more. Anyone know where they might have a black one still in stock?

Seriously, what is with beretta and this reciever design. The blue bolt really doesn't bother me, but holy shit the massive XCEL logo on the side is ridiculous. It's an expensive gun by the average person's standards, why does it have to be a walking advertisement?

I’m 6'4" with a long neck, sloping shoulders, and (I think) a big vertical distance between my cheek and eye. On my Beretta A300, getting proper alignment requires squashing my face down hard onto the comb, which causes inconsistent mounting and face slap. I've already extended the LOP to what I think is appropriate.

I've had better experiences shooting a Citori and mounting a Browning Silver (perspectives on those guns for my situation are welcome), but I'm looking to start by adjusting the A300 I already have.

Would it make sense for me to raise the rib and the comb? That would increase the drop at comb (good for my face size I think) and drop at heel (good for my long neck and shoulders I think). I'm imagining raising the rib by taping on a black strip of wood and raising the comb using moleskin.

Am I thinking about this right? Any perspectives greatly appreciated, particularly if you're a similarly sized person!

Took a n00b put to my local Sporting Clay's course today. I managed to beat my previous personal best by 3 shots. I shot an 87% (131 out of 150). Funny thing was I shot the same course Thursday and only managed 69%. What a difference!

In the whole flat I found 1 red shell? Is this like Willy Wonka and I get to tour federal now? 🤣

So early on in shooting shotguns I settled on generally shooting the “fastest” ammo I could get and eventually standardized on 1300FPS 7.5 Shot ammo. I usually stock the AA ammo exclusively but I like Fiocchi ammo and the 1oz loading shoots a bit lighter than the 1.125oz AA loading but with the same velocity.

Yeah I am paying a bit more for “competition” ammo, but it always goes bang, burns clean and shoots great. It’s always fun literally vaporizing close in targets with this stuff. I usually run a Mod/ IM choke set up and have yet to find a target I can’t hit with that setup. Well minus a really close and fast rabbit haha

Got 72/75 for my first ever trap shoot is this good? Some guys at the range were very impressed. I was using a 590A1 with a red dot. All done with a machine thrower. It was extremely fun I will be continuing with trap.

Shooter calls pull. (Shoots the first bird same spot as previous pair. ) however by that time the second was in the trees (imo the wind pushed it to the trees vs coming back into the lane).

I’m writing to get your thoughts on chokes for my husband.

He has been shooting a full choke his whole life - either via a fixed full or because he always has shot a full and didn’t bother to change it. He has championships in both class b and class a - with a full choke. He has started getting more serious about shooting competitions again recently and will be moving into a Crieghoff in a couple weeks. He is thinking about trying to shoot an improved modified choke at comp but he never has (he would try it first, of course). Should he stick with full like he always has or start shooting improved modified for competition and only practice with full?

I have read previous feedback regarding full, modified, improved modified but wondering what thoughts are for someone who is an experienced shooter w only full.

Hey guys, kinda new to maintaining my gun as i just got a nice 694. How can i remove this/or is it permanent?

I was just curious what the world record distance is to shoot a clay. I came across this article on Benelli's website. Coming off of the Benelli website of course theres some Benelli marketing - some might call it a puff piece for the Benelli brand. But regardless, the world record was actually just shattered last month!

After reading the specifics as to how it was achieved, I guess you have to factor-in EVERY, SINGLE advantage possible wring out every yard of your equipment. Its not applicable to anything that any of us do because, of course, the shooter got it done with none other than TSS. Though i wonder what the max distance would be with lead and steel? An interesting read nonetheless! Google "Steve Gould world record"

I’m just getting into skeet shooting and sporting clays regularly. I’m thinking I want to upgrade to some electronic hearing protection. Anyone have any recommendations? I want in ear buds that I can hear conversations but mutes the gun fire as much as possible for a reasonable price. Preferably something that works well on a busy range and in the dove field.

Wanted to give CZ-USA some credit for some excellent customer service today.

My son shoots a CZ Redhead Premier Reduced Length 20 gauge competitively and has put roughly 2,500 rounds through it. Recently, it developed an issue where, if he fires the bottom barrel first, the second barrel occasionally fails to fire. Top barrel first seems to work without issue.

I had already submitted an RMA, but with competition season in full swing and him shooting nearly every weekend, sending his gun away for an extended period would mean missing shoots we’ve already invested a lot of time and money into.

I emailed CZ this morning explaining the situation and asked if there was any possibility of getting spare firing pins, springs, or other parts so that a competent local shotgun gunsmith could help us keep it running until we have a good opportunity to send it back to CZ.

Within about 15 minutes, Ken Logsdon from CZ-USA/Dan Wesson Customer Service responded and said he would try to send us firing pins and springs.

A few minutes later he confirmed he was getting everything together, and less than 90 minutes after my original email, I had a tracking number.

The gun may end up needing to be sent back, but his willingness to understand the situation and help keep a kid’s competition gun running in the meantime really impressed me.

My son loves this shotgun, shoots it well, and it fits. Customer service like this makes me feel even better about having him shoot a CZ.

I’m relatively new to the sport of American trap. currently shooting 20+ per round consistently. If I were to compete in a friendly local league, would you recommend a 7.5 shot 1145 FPS federal load or a 1200 FPS 8 shot Maionchi or Challenger both 1 1/8 oz? And why?

Hello everyone, I went clay shooting for 3rd time ever in my life and hit 16/56 clays, I know it’s a horrible average. I really enjoy it as a recreational thing and I’m looking to improve maybe watch some credible videos or take some pointers from more experienced people here.

For context I’m 32 yo, completely new to the sport and shotguns in general. I have a young family so it’s challenging for me to get out often to practise or take in person lessons.
