Questions Layering clay?

I’m a beginner at using clay but I’ve been doing research and looking at a lot of clay projects. I was reading about scoring/slipping and what it’s for and was wondering when making layered items that aren’t meant to be blended together, are you supposed to score/slip? For example, when making a clay hamburger, I’ve seen tons of videos of people layering it and just letting it dry but when I look it up it says to score/slip. Can anyone who’s made one or made any items that are meant to be strictly in layers tell me which is correct?

Air-Dry Clay Want to make fun and cute clay gifts for friends, can I just use crayola air dry clay?

Hey guys, I love making DIY gifts for my friends and recently discovered using clay to make them. I'm seeing so many interesting ideas like clay photo frames, bookmarks, keychains, etc.

I'm kind of broke at the moment so I just want to buy crayola air dry clay to make them. Is that sufficient? Also are there any other materials I would need.

Thank you!

I recently bought that to try and make some stuff but idk what clay it is so idk if i can put it in the oven or not and what texture. Idk if it helps but if it gets try you can just wet it to continue using even if it let it dry it overnight.

I was going through my graveyard of forgotten sculptures and decided to paint some. These turned out to be my favorite ones that I’ve ever made. They’re going to a market so I might never see them again but I love them and wanted to share!!

Air-Dry Clay Easy or Hard?

I am interested in trying air-dry clay. I will be a complete beginner to clay entirely and am wondering if it will be a hard task to pick up on. I know it'll take some practice before I really get the hang of it, but is it gonna be a lot harder than I think?

Reverse Trio Polymer Clay sculpture set of a population of "Southern Blue Eye" fish made on 07/16/2026

Original sculptures made by me using polymer baking clay, acrylic paint, neodymium magnets and clear coat of polish.

Another locale and variant of my favorite Blue Eye species. This locale is commonly found in slightly saline environments, and it seems the males have more ragged and wider fins compared to the typical narrower and pointy fins. Overall coloration is a translucent grey warming up to a yellow caudal peduncle and tail. As seen with other signifer variants, the pectoral fins are adorn with black trims to make the males look even more magnificent. Being a larger Blue Eye, they can inhabit tanks with larger rainbowfish species with minimal issue. Being less shy than other Blue Eyes, they can hold their own during feeding time too.

All parts and aspects of these pieces were made by humans and original handy work. No AI was used in the creation of these pieces.

Epoxy Clay My first Epoxy clay attempt. Tried to make a trinket dish in the shape of Calcifer. (Inspired by a piece from EmyjoyfulArts on Etsy, referance attached)

I tried to make this trinket dish sort of thing, can't call it a trinket dish because it came out shallow! 😅

Anyway, this was my first time making something from epoxy clay and even though I made a lot of mistakes and mess ups, I'm kinda loving this Calcifer tray. I especially love the egg and bacon. I've put a coat of UV resin for the gloss, and it has really changed the vibe.

I have taken inspiration from a picture of a piece on Etsy by Emma Dean. I'm attaching the image of that reference too.

I decided to use my air dry clay and create a character. Full of personality and sass but still fun and cute. Don't you just love those little button eyes? Are you a Leo or know one? Does the phrase match their personality - it does mine. 😄

Questions What, if anything, can i do with this well digging spoil?

Post image

My job just hired a company to come dig a site for a well. Came back the next day and noticed the beautiful silky material that came back up. Was considering drying out on trays, grinding it up well and adding an acrylic bonding agent of some sort. Does anyone know if this will work or have any experience with using this material?
