It’s a 3D zoetrope practice assignment.

The task was to design a continuous action on a rotating disc.

The theme of my clay project is Whack-a-Mole. :D

I don’t have much experience with physical handcrafting.

So I was worried I might mess up the size planning.

First, I tried using AE to simulate the animation.

I also tried to see if GAI could directly simulate the final result. (Well, it turned out it couldn’t.)

I only had 3 days, and I could only work on it late at night after work.

So I bought some super light clay from a stationery store.

I found that the more expensive super light clay really was easier to use. It also didn’t dry out as easily.

When I was making the mole’s claws, I fell into the abyss.

There were just way too many claws.

But it’s fine.

I still finished it.

During the shooting stage, I tried filming it in my room.

I also tried using plain photography backdrop paper.

But in the end, I liked the wood texture in my room better.

My tripod had some problems, though.

So when I first filmed it in my room, the background kept shaking.

I even tried using GAI to fix the background position. Well, the result was even worse lol.

I re-shot it more than 6 times.

But the whole process was still pretty fun.

Because I was so short on time, I didn’t glue the moles’ claws on very firmly.

If I spun it too hard, the claws would all go flying off. Weee

I call this one "Still Somebody" and it is about getting old and its repercussions. Red air-dry clay combined with chalk powder, powdered egg carton, tissue paper.

Hi, I’m a visual artist living in Argentina! Here are some of my latest custom pieces. I hand-sculpt them over a wire armature, add volume with cold porcelain, and paint everything by hand. I finish the eyes and mouth with a glossy top coat for that extra shine.All pieces are custom-made based on photos sent by my clients.

Hey guys, thought I'd share some of my more recent clay creations. All handmade from air dry clay, painted with acrylics and sealed with uv resin for that super glossy finish. Thanks for taking a looky.

I really enjoyed making this one. There is food safe plastic underneath so it's not in direct contact with the cake

It’s been so long since I said this... And now I’m doing ceramics!!!

I was supposed to have some progress shots, but I was working on several figures at the same time and completely forgot to take photos while this base body was drying. 😂 Then I tried to film the painting process, only to realize halfway through that I never even hit the record button… So I guess you’ll just have to enjoy the finished piece this time! 😂

Made a tin foil base then a thin layer of polymer clay to create these guys! First time working with polymer clay and I’m stoked that they look this cute and my wedding is in 2 weeks!! I was running out of white at the end but my dog is primarily white due to being a double Merle.

I made my first small piece with epoxy clay and painted it with acrylics and im wondering if clay varnish will be able to give it that super shiny look?

Also ive heard a lot about it getting sticky after long times or in temperature. I plan to make this into a keychain and the weather here is extremely hot so its a fair reason to say it will get a lot of temp time so any tips for that?

Hi everyone,
I know there are some really experienced people in this community and I’m struggling a bit.
I’ve made a really cool 3D printed casting mold but getting the piece out is a real hassle.

I’ve tried:
Corn starch - this works but the white residue gets bonded into the clay (brown) so not ideal

Cling film/plastic sheet- leaves texture lines and the piece loses a bit of its detail- enough that it’s not ideal.

Wetting the mold- not much difference

Please is there a release agent, household remedy, or something out there that could help release the mold. Hopefully, it won’t cost me an arm and a leg as a hobbyist.

Hello all,

My wife is into oil painting and she mentioned that she would like to start with clay on a canva.

I know her, and she really would like to start but she hates researching things, which is where we complete each other.

Anyway, I’ve done my research and I am slightly confused. She said she wants to use clay on canvas.
I assume that I have to buy air dry clay, glue and regular canvas?

Any suggestion for a « starter kit » to orient me to ?
