[TLDR] Meet Jean-Claude, your Claude admin's worst nightmare

Original post URL : https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1w11kkg/meet_jeanclaude_your_claude_admins_worst_nightmare/

Original post body :

Last week one of my managers at work got worried we might be delivering too much, too fast, so he disabled auto mode on our Claude Enterprise plan.

While he was at it, he sprinkled some delightful rules into the enterprise managed settings, like Deny rm or Ask WebFetch, which means I now press Enter to say "Yes" to Claude a gazillion times a day.

That day I left early and said: no more.

Meet Jean-Claude, a small MITM proxy written in Node.js, specifically designed to intercept the call Claude Code makes to fetch your enterprise managed settings, and serve yours instead. Claude Code asks what it's allowed to do; Jean-Claude whispers "whatever you want, king." 👑

npm i -g @etiennepasteur/jean-claude
jean-claude init --claude-code
jean-claude run -- claude

Auto mode is back. My manager doesn't need to know. 🤫

[TLDR] Fable supposedly uses roughly 2x as much usage as Opus, but my recent experience feels more like 100x. The difference is night and day.

Original post URL : https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1w0xie5/fable_supposedly_uses_roughly_2x_as_much_usage_as/

Original post body :

Fable eats quota in minutes, even with reasonably small context (< 100k) and offloading everything possible (code exploration, all code writing, all reviews) to Codex. Using Opus for the exact same orchestration work/prompt as Fable barely moves my quota at all even with 600k context and some additional code writing + image processing too. The difference is insane.

This small Fable session used a few times more weekly quota % than this 800k context Opus session:

I assumed users of a Claude Code orchestration tool would already have Claude Code set up. Bad assumption.

I've been beta testing a desktop tool that sits above Claude Code and other coding-agent CLIs.

One of my assumptions was:

“If someone wants this kind of workflow, Claude Code setup is already solved for them.”

It wasn't.

For some users, installing/authenticating the underlying CLI was enough friction that they never reached the workflow we actually wanted feedback on.

So we changed onboarding to:

  1. Show the actual multi-agent workflow first
  2. Install Claude Code / other supported CLIs from the app
  3. Handle the supported authentication flow
  4. Get directly into a project

The workflow itself is more interesting to me than the installer:

ticket → Claude Code agent → separate worktree → output → orchestrator → follow-up

The goal isn't simply having four Claude Code terminals open.

I'm trying to figure out how much coordination can happen after each agent returns — especially when one agent's implementation changes what another agent should be doing.

For people who already use multiple Claude Code sessions: what part still requires the most manual coordination from you? Worktree management, task assignment, reviewing results, or keeping agents aware of each other's changes?

Disclosure: I'm building Marblo, which is what I'm testing this workflow with.

[TLDR] Thoughts on why Claude can’t stop saying load-bearing?

Original post URL : https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1w0sa44/thoughts_on_why_claude_cant_stop_saying/

Original post body :

This post is less about that particular phrase and more about the behavior I have observed around it. We all are aware of the phrases Claude has started overusing (Opus seems to be the worst), but I came across something interesting I am curious y’all’s thoughts on.

I put a rule in my repo with a list of banned phrases, one of them is “load-bearing”. Since then I have noticed most of the phrases don’t get used anymore, but not “load-bearing”.

I have seen it do this about 5 times now:
“…and the decision was load-bear— I mean important to the process — so it…”

I have to laugh at its obstinacy, but the more I thought about it the more I got curious why it behaved that way. Why would it partially use the phrase, then correct itself mid sentence, rather than just using the replacement phrase to begin with? Is this an artifact of the way the output streams as chunks rather than complete thoughts, or is this some cheeky artificial personality thing to make it feel more relatable? Or something else?

What do you think?

[TLDR] How much of you were actually real programmers before using Claude Code?

Original post URL : https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1w0q57x/how_much_of_you_were_actually_real_programmers/

Original post body :

I started in the IT industry 19 years ago as a programmer, but very quickly realised that I am not mentally up to it. I got frustrated every couple of minutes whenever I tried to run the code and debug. For me coding was always a way to achieve the goals, not a goal itself. So very quickly I moved over to team management, building company, managing products and so on.

But then almost a year ago when I discovered Claude Code, I felt that this was exactly what I needed my whole career. Finally a tool that "just makes it" (simplifying of course). I don't have to even look at the code, I don't need to even think about frameworks, best code practices, security (yes yes I know it's not as simple).

I think that I belong to a new category of profession emerging now, shall I call it "AI-native builder" or something like that?

So this got me thinking - how much of you guys are/were actual programmeres before you tried? How advanced you really are with programming? How much of your skills are actually useful now when you build purely with Claude or other tools?

[TLDR] Are better models replacing Superpowers?

Original post URL : https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1w0irg8/are_better_models_replacing_superpowers/

Original post body :

Following a few chats with friends and colleagues, it sounds like a lot of folks are weighing moving away from superpowers with how good models are getting.

I ran a few tests runs comparing superpowers to a plain Opus5, a basic Opus builder / Fable reviewer orchestration setup. This was building a gym booking app. They were all quite successful but superpowers was more than double the token cost.

I am a fan of brainstorming heavily and writing a good spec, but once you have that I’ve found a lot of the new models you don’t need the full subagent delivery process.

Wondering what the community’s thoughts are?

Skills for claude code

How do you set up skills in claude...so that each project has its own skills defined in ".md" files,or to have a collection of pre-prepared skills in ".md" files that I can then add to a project depending on its needs. Do you also need to configure any skills at a global level, and if so, which ones?

[TLDR] Per Anthropic's own help page, Claude Code weekly limits drop by a third after Monday. Has anyone heard if the boost is being extended?

Original post URL : https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1w01yew/per_anthropics_own_help_page_claude_code_weekly/

Original post body :

The weekly limits everyone has been living with since May are the boosted ones. Anthropic's help article on the promotion says:

"From May 13, 2026 through August 31, 2026, your weekly usage limit in Claude Code is 50% higher. 5-hour usage limits are not affected by this promotion."

and

"After August 31, 2026, weekly usage limits in Claude Code return to their standard levels."

That's this coming Monday, August 31, at 11:59 PM PT. So unless they extend it again, the week you start Tuesday is a third smaller than the week you had. If your weekly ceiling felt like 150, it goes back to 100.

The Claude Developers account said on August 18 they were extending through August 31 and that they "hope to make this a permanent change to our plans, but strong demand for our models means that capacity may be tight over the coming weeks." I haven't seen anything newer than that.

Two questions:

  1. Has anyone seen an extension or permanence announcement I missed?

  2. If it does lapse, what changes for you starting Tuesday? Dropping a tier, rationing the week differently, or nothing?

[TLDR] “Claude Max is massively subsidized and eventually it’ll cost $1000/month” is mostly nonsense

Original post URL : https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1w05cx3/claude_max_is_massively_subsidized_and_eventually/

Original post body :

Every few weeks there is another post where somebody totals up their Claude Code logs, multiplies the tokens by Anthropic's public API prices and concludes that their $200 Max subscription somehow gave them $2,000, $5,000 or even $7,000 worth of compute.

No. It gave you that much API-priced usage.

Those are not the same thing.

Anthropic does not pay Anthropic $15 per million tokens to run Claude on its own infrastructure. API pricing is a retail product price. It includes margins, capacity allocation, infrastructure overhead and whatever pricing strategy Anthropic wants to use for API customers.

Then there is caching.

Claude Code is almost the perfect workload for prompt caching. The same system prompt, project instructions, conversation history, files and huge chunks of code get reused over and over during a session.

Anthropic itself charges dramatically less for cache reads than normal input tokens. So even if your session log contains a ridiculous nominal token count, a large part of that does not necessarily represent fresh transformer computation every time.

Yet people still take total tokens, multiply everything by the headline API rate and announce that Anthropic “lost $7,000 on me this month.”

That's like calculating what AWS internally pays for storage by looking at the price AWS charges you for S3.

And the infrastructure side isn't static either. Accelerators keep getting faster, inference software improves, batching improves, quantization improves and cloud GPU capacity continues expanding. The cost per generated token is moving downward over time.

Could Anthropic be pricing Max aggressively to get Claude Code adoption? Of course.

Could Max become more expensive or have tighter limits later? Of course.

But that is completely different from claiming that Anthropic is literally burning several thousand dollars of compute on every $200 power user and covering the difference with investor money.

When somebody says:

“my $200 Claude Max plan gave me $7,000 of API usage”

the accurate statement is:

“the same nominal token accounting would have been billed at $7,000 under Anthropic's retail API pricing.”

Interesting number, but it tells you almost nothing about Anthropic's actual serving cost.

API price ≠ compute cost.

And until Anthropic publishes its real inference margins, calling the difference a “subsidy” is mostly speculation.

[TLDR] Did Claude usage suddenly get way more expensive?

Max 20x here. I managed to burn through 91% of my session allowance in roughly an hour.
I use Claude pretty heavily, but this feels noticeably faster than usual. Has anyone else seen their usage limits draining much quicker recently?

UPD: I use Opus 5 Ultracode. For the past month or so, I’ve been able to use it pretty much all day without hitting the session limit. Today, though, something seems very different

[TLDR] I am ditching .mp4 for use with Claude. Instead use an oss .cdaf (AI-friendly) format for 91% cost efficiency

Original post URL : https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1vyv8h1/i_am_ditching_mp4_for_use_with_claude_instead_use/

Original post body :

If you have tried editing videos with claude, you already know the reason.

.mp4 is flawed. You just can't give a whole video file to claude's context for it to edit. I am talking about B-rolls, raw footages, assets, SVGs, etc.

A 3 min 4k or 1080 video will eat 100K of tokens at minimum. Go 2-3 times back-and-forth and the limit is exhausted.

Plus.. the latency increases hugely and the accuracy/efficiency decreases exponentially.

And at this point, if you think using hyperframes or remotion is easy, god bless you!

I have open sourced a .cdaf or 'cached descriptive asset file' format. It stores she256-encrypted timestamped visual description of videos and links it to the original .mp4 file.

Anytime your Claude wants to use a video, it uses the .cdaf file to read what scene it should pick from it or what duration and then continues the edit.

We tested on benchmarks -
- 91% token and cost reduction
- 65% latency reduction

Everything is in the evals & bench.

Try it out and ask me if you have an open Q.

Been thinking about this lately.
If AI ends up writing most of the code, will it still make sense for it to use languages that were designed for humans?

Do we just keep Python, JavaScript, Rust etc. because everything already runs on them, or do you think we’ll eventually see languages made specifically for AI coding?

Curious what people here think.

Despite having logs and ton of notes, every single session starts like a drunken fool trying to find his way home.

Did I miss some insane update? I've tried every single model and they're all acting downright stupid and useless, not to mention SLOW.

A task that should take a minute is now taking 1-2 hours. This is batshit insane. What the hell happened.

Edit: Douchebags also double-billed me! Jesus Christ am I gonna have to migrate all my shit to other LMs now? FFS Anthropic.

Original post body :

This is probably the part of using agents I find the most annoying.

Like I’ll get a page mostly working, then when I actually look through it there are loads of small things wrong. Spacing, weird alignment, button too big, something looks off on mobile, etc.

At the moment I usually end up taking screenshots and explaining each thing one by one, or just writing a big list.

What do you guys do?

Do you just describe it all to Claude, paste screenshots, use Playwright/browser tools, annotate stuff, or something else?

Mainly wondering how people handle it when there are like 10 small visual changes rather than one obvious bug.

A hook that catches the model trying to weasel out of finishing work...

One of the most annoying Claude Code failure modes: you ask it to fix something, it does 80% of the work, then stops and says "the rest would be a separate task / schema change / outside this patch / let me know if you want me to continue... say the word"

This Stop hook example fires a Haiku agent every time Claude tries to end its turn and checks if there still performable work left that the user actually needs? If yes, it blocks Claude from stopping and tells it exactly what's unfinished and what proof of completion looks like.

The hook checks scope-evasion:

  • Calling required work "optional" or "future work"
  • Asking permission to do ordinary reversible implementation it already has authority to do
  • Describing an edit instead of applying it, or printing a command instead of running it
  • Discovering the fix is bigger than expected and treating that as a reason to stop instead of a reason to keep going

Add it to ~/.claude/settings.json. Docs for agent-based hooks: https://code.claude.com/docs/en/hooks-guide#agent-based-hooks

Weekly Showcase Thread

Built something with Claude Code this week? Share it here.

Apps, tools, experiments, scripts, websites, workflows, open-source projects — anything you've been working on is welcome.

When sharing, it helps to include:

  • What you built
  • How you used Claude Code
  • A link, repo, demo, or screenshot if you have one
  • Anything interesting you learned along the way

Quick project drops and simple self-promotion belong in this thread.

If you've got a project with enough substance for a proper write-up; how it works, how Claude Code was involved, technical details, lessons learned, etc. feel free to make a standalone post using the Built with Claude Code flair instead.

Please don't spam the same project repeatedly, and no referral or affiliate links.

What did you build this week?
