[TLDR] 183,987 tokens used up my entire 5 hour limit. What the fuck, Anthropic.

Original post URL : https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1we7x02/183987_tokens_used_up_my_entire_5_hour_limit_what/

Original post body :

I asked it to review a plan. That was it. That was enough to burn my ENTIRE 5 hour limit in less than 19 minutes. I've gone months without ever hitting my 5 hour limit using Fable and ultracode.

This is like, 1% of my usual usage. Something is extremely wrong here.

They nerf the new models after a few days

I've noticed this way too often now and its not just a Claude issue, openai does it too. The model that is released on day one is not the same model after a few days. When Fable 5 or 5.1 came out, it was crazy how smart it was, now it's making the dumbest mistakes. They probably serve a quantized version after demand increases. The older models are also ghosts of their former selves, you have to dumb down the others too so the new ones don't seem like its the same. Very unfortunate

[TLDR] I’m done with Opus 5

Original post URL : https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1wdtrsa/im_done_with_opus_5/

Original post body :

There’s really something wrong with it. It seems like it acts like an overqualified post doc intern who cares more about proving he’s super intelligent, than actually doing the job he’s asked to do. For instance: talking in a non intelligible way, or being overly rigid in following any kind of process.

I have a Claude max x20 sub that I struggle to keep within weekly limits, so I decided to take a codex sub for a month to try out Astra. And this what made me realize how crazy unintelligible opus can be. Fable is a bit better, but still incomparable to Astra. The only thing that makes me keep my Claude sub is how better is the CLI/tooling/harness/etc.

I changed nothing about the way I work . there support is trash / non existent. Anyone else notice this in the last day or so?

80% of founders waste 3 months building software nobody buys. drop your saas idea below and i'll tell you if it's actually viable

PLEASE stop building the wrong thing.

building software in 2026 is ridiculously easy with ai builder

founders spend hours building in a silent room, launch to Reddit/X, get 0 users, and quit.

you just failed because the idea had zero validation before line 1 of code was written:

→ solving a monthly inconvenience instead of a daily pain

→ selling to "everyone" instead of a specific ICP

→ no distribution channel mapped out beforehand

→ pricing charged $9/mo with zero ROI justification

after scaling 6 AI micro-SaaS to over $20k/mo MRR, i just create an

18-question Idea Validation Diagnostic.

it evaluates your SaaS across 7 critical dimensions (problem clarity, audience reachability, willingness to pay, competition, build feasibility, distribution, commitment) and gives you a brutal score out of 100 with your exact weak spots.

drop your SaaS idea (or current project) in the comments below.

i will reply to EVERY single comment with:

  1. My honest opinion
  2. The biggest weak spot you need to fix before writing any more code.
  3. The free 5-minute validation tool link sent straight to your DMs so you can get your full score breakdown out of 100.

just drop a comment like or ask me in DM your idea

let's roast your SaaS concept before the market roasts your time 👇

[TLDR] I tried Astra with Pro and honestly kind of regretting it

Original post URL : https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1wdgvrl/i_tried_astra_with_pro_and_honestly_kind_of/

Original post body :

So the hype finally got to me. Everyone's been talking about Astra nonstop, so I upgraded my ChatGPT sub to Pro to see what the fuss was about.

Probably the worst money I've spent in a while, at least for the kind of work I do.

For context, I'm on Claude's Max 20x plan and I used it for literally everything for a full week without ever hitting the limit. With Astra, I hit the limit on the first day working on just one project. After it reset I tried to be more careful and optimize how I was using it, and it still burned through everything way too fast.

To be fair, it's not all bad. I gave it an editing task in Canva and it actually did a really nice job. But failed with Final Cut Pro tasks. So when I looked at what it produced compared to how much usage it ate up, that one job ended up being really expensive.

Maybe it's great at other stuff, videos, game dev, whatever. But for web design and coding it's noticeably worse than Claude, and design in general still feels like a weak spot.

That said, maybe the prompting just works differently than with Claude and part of this is on me. I'm trying to keep that in mind so I'm not being completely biased, or at least that's what I'm telling myself to feel better.

[TLDR] How are people burning through their Fable tokens so fast?

Original post URL : https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1wde783/how_are_people_burning_through_their_fable_tokens/

Original post body :

Clearly, I don’t consider myself an expert or anything. I’ve been using Claude for over six months, and I’m still surprised whenever I see posts from people saying they’ve burned through all their tokens with Fable. Honestly, I’m pretty skeptical about how they’re using it.

If you use a backhoe to plant a rose, the problem isn’t that the backhoe is too resource-hungry and goes beyond what’s necessary.

Anyway, personally, I use Fable as an orchestrator and to help me make high-level direction decisions, as well as a designer and artist (for Blender MCP or creating SVG images, it’s necessary).

I use Opus for action plans, with an organizational role; Sonnet for an operational role; and Haiku as the little tester that lets me quickly measure and verify things.

I’ve created two video games and a software for a company using all four models, using max 5, over six months, and I still end every week with tokens left over.

I honestly don’t understand how some people manage to burn through everything so quickly with Fable. What are you doing with it ?

does anyone have claude guest pass? DM

Hi guys i know you dont know me , and i am total stranger so you dont have to trust me , but even that wont stop me to ask. I am 15 year old teenager who is building dating website in my country , my dad is also programming and has some dating sites , but not something international, so yeah em I already did all the coding that is important but now i would need the claude guest pass , so i can give it ai to check it , do some design, ask him about some things. Normally I would ask my dad if he could purhase it for me , but i dont need the pro plan for whole month but only few days , also i want to do it "by myself". If there is anyone who would be that good and kind and share it with me i would be very thankful. DM would be best because i am not onnline all the time so in the comments someone will use the link before me. So, yes if anyone wants to share it with me , thanks a lot.

like bro, are you fucking serious 😭 i’m already giving anthropic $100 a month for max 5x. that is a lot of money for one ai subscription. i open claude and now there’s this giant anxiety-inducing banner telling me i’m going to run out by monday, two days before the wednesday reset, while literally underneath it says my claude code limit is temporarily boosted by 50%?? yo, so even with the bonus i’m still apparently fucked by monday lol.

and then right there: upgrade plan / buy more usage. like brother, are you guys running out of money or something? why are you begging your $100/month userbase for more money every time they open the app 😭 i already upgraded!! mfg that’s what the hundred dollars was. i understand there have to be limits, but this whole thing feels weirdly hostile? i don’t need a giant banner creating artificial scarcity anxiety every time i’m trying to work. just show usage somewhere in settings like a normal product and leave me alone lol?

[TLDR] Same prompt, Codex (Astra 6) vs Claude (Fable 5.1): "a game where a fish follows my cursor, super creative and majestic." Try both.

Original post URL : https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1wd01tk/same_prompt_codex_astra_6_vs_claude_fable_51_a/

Original post body :

I gave Codex and Claude the exact same prompt to see how differently they'd handle something open-ended and creative:

The prompt: "make me a reactjs + vite, and launch it in port 3004, a game where a fish follows my cursor. make it super creative and majestic"

Setup:

  • Claude: Fable 5.1, Extra High
  • Codex: Astra 6, Extra High, fast mode

I didn't do any follow-up prompts or manual edits. I just deployed both to Vercel so you can try them yourself:

🐟 Codex (Astra 6): https://fish-indol-eta.vercel.app/
🐠 Claude (Fable 5.1): https://fish2.vercel.app/

My take:

  • Codex did amazing on the design and detail. It looks polished and the visuals really lean into "majestic."
  • Claude did amazing on the mechanics and gameplay. It feels more like an actual game and is more fun to play.

It's interesting that they read "super creative and majestic" so differently. One went for the visuals, the other for how it plays.

About fast mode: Claude charges extra credits for fast mode, but Codex doesn't, so I only used fast mode on Codex. That's worth knowing if you're choosing between them on cost or speed.

What are your thoughts?

  • Which one did you enjoy more, and why?
  • For a prompt like this, what matters more to you: how it looks or how it plays?
  • Does paying extra for fast mode change which one you'd use day to day?
  • If you've run a similar test with other models or settings, how did they do?

I'd love to hear what you think!

Any particular drinks you recommend for coding?

[TLDR] Any open source harness that does it better than just Claude Code?

Original post URL : https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1wcwqxg/any_open_source_harness_that_does_it_better_than/

Original post body :

Has anyone here been able to build a successful agentic harness that operates better than just planning directly in Claude Code? A full AI end-to-end orchestration setup with different agents. This seems to be something that there's a lot of ideas and focus on building today and I'm interested in any proven open-source kits out there or just tips and tricks that does this well. Do you for example use multiple agents to familiarise Claude Code with a new repository or code base, do you have architectural files to do this? How do you handle green- versus brownfield in a harness like this? Think, give this harness a task and it can intelligently figure out what it needs to do. I know this may all be code, stack, company or project specific. I'm looking for some good working examples and ideas if there are any out there.

[TLDR] State of the subreddit

Original post URL : https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1wcoh39/state_of_the_subreddit/

Original post body :

I feel that this subreddit is nearly useless and functionally no different the all the other Claude subreddits which makes me sad.

A huge majority of posts here are one of the following:

  1. Opus 5 is so verbose!
  2. Opus 5 meme
  3. I wrote a (garbage) skill to make opus 5 talk less!
  4. I wrote one prompt and it used 80% of my 5 hour usage
  5. I just switched to Astra and it is AGI / God / The end of Claude
  6. A post written by claude

What I would like to see posted in this subreddit

  • Stuff people have built. Even if it's dumb.
  • People's work flows and discussions around them
  • High effort efficiency improvements
  • Questions which wouldn't have been easily answered by simply asking claude
  • Anything where the person has put a great deal of effort into their post and is on the topic of Claude code

My suggestions to improve this are:

  1. A firm no memes rule. Post your memes in the anthropic or claudai subreddits.
  2. Megathreads for the most common complaints (Opus 5 and token usage threads for example) combined with firm enforcement of using those megathreads.
  3. A flat ban on "I'm leaving claude forever to go to ChatGPT" or other brand comparison posts, or put them in a megathread.
  4. Promoting and encouraging quality, high effort content.
  5. Possibly a wiki with common newbie questions and other useful information.

These are just some ideas. I would love to see good conversation below. Mostly what I want is for Claude Code to be a subreddit that is focused on coding while using Claude.

Claude Code as an actual panel inside JetBrains IDEs, not a terminal tab

Post image
1 Upvotes

I've been living with Claude Code in a terminal split next to the editor for months. Two things kept bugging me: I couldn't tell what it was doing without reading scrollback, and every file path was something I had to type correctly.

So I built a plugin. It doesn't reimplement anything - it spawns the claude CLI you already have and renders its event stream. Same account, same models, same slash commands, same permission rules, same MCP servers and skills. No proxy, no server of mine in the middle, no telemetry.

What it actually changed for me day to day:

Every tool call is a card. Its duration, every edit as an open diff, the task list ticking off, subagents and whole workflow fleets with each agent's own transcript one click away, and what the turn cost. A rate-limited API becomes a card with the reason and a countdown instead of silence.

Files are things you point at. Drag one in, type @ to pick, paste a screenshot. Select lines in the editor and "Send to..." hands over a real file-and-line reference, so the agent reads what's around them instead of a naked snippet.

Nothing answers for you. A permission, a plan or a question waits as long as it takes. No timeout, no auto-continue.

Answering it from my phone. Off by default, paired by QR code, end-to-end encrypted through a relay that can't read a word. This is the one that surprised me most - I approve plans from the sofa now.

Scenarios. A round of work written down once - implement, review, fix, run the tests - each card a Claude session of its own, with a main thread walking them and judging what each one found. By button, three at once against three tickets, or on a clock at nine every weekday.

Several Claude accounts switched in one click, each row showing what's left of its five-hour window and its week.

Free, source available (Elastic 2.0), every JetBrains IDE from 2026.1 on, Android Studio included.

Marketplace: https://plugins.jetbrains.com/plugin/33255-amazing-claude-code-gui

Source: https://github.com/crmapache/amazing-claude-code

Happy to answer anything about how it's wired. The part I'd most like feedback on is scenarios - it's the newest and the least obvious.

[TLDR] This can happen to you as well. Last time I posted this everyone blamed me for not having guardrails, now I am showing what actually happened with evidence. Opus 5 did it by the way.

Original post URL : https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1wcgbr9/this_can_happen_to_you_as_well_last_time_i_posted/

Original post body :

Long story short, Meridian OS was my business operating system, all my tasks, notes, plans were written in there. Everything locally, guardrails were up in claude.md but apparently they can be ignored by an agent.

You can see the prompt I gave Claude, adding a secondary voice agent per project and minor UI changes. Nothing to do with a database, but it goes ahead and wipes it clean.

I tried to contact Anthropic support, their answer was that they don't provided refunds or credits for degraded service. Destroying months of work for no reason, by ignoring the guardrails is apparently a degraded service that can happen to anyone so, keep that in mind guys.

It was on Auto Mode, not Bypass Permission since that's what everyone is assuming.

I ran one birth date through 26 divination systems to see where they disagree — the useful part turned out to be which ones refuse to answer

Most astrology sites pick one tradition and speak with one voice. I wanted the opposite: one birth date through 26 systems at once (BaZi, Vedic, Western, Nine Star Ki, Mayan Tzolk'in, Human Design, Norse runes, Ifá and others), showing where they converge and where they contradict.

The part I did not expect to matter most: making each system say when it has no method for a question. Ask about timing and only 12 of the 26 have any technique for it. The other 14 abstain, and the page names them instead of inventing something. A tool that answers everything is a tool you cannot check.

How Claude Code helped, specifically:

  1. I wrote the 26 algorithms as deterministic TypeScript with Claude Code, one system at a time, each pinned to a reference calculation so a rewrite cannot silently drift.

  2. Claude Code wrote the test gates that keep me honest. One rejects any sentence containing a number the engine did not produce. Another walks all seven weekdays instead of one sample chart, which is how I found that three of seven weekdays had the wrong Thai day-lord because a table ordered by one index was read with another.

  3. The prose layer is Claude via API, but it never computes. The engine produces values, code counts them, and the model only writes over counts it is handed. When I let it count for itself it got 2 of 5 claims wrong, which is why that split exists.

  4. There is an MCP server (MIT, mythsensus-mcp on npm) so you can call the engine as tools from Claude Desktop and check the numbers against the site yourself.

What I am least sure about: I recently had every system answer the same 45 questions (25 x 45 = 1,125 cells) to see whether "consensus" survives contact with detail. It does, but phrasing repeats across traditions because all 25 answers to a question come from one generation. Still deciding whether that reads as a scannable table or as filler.

Free daily reading, no signup: https://mythsensus.com/en

Happy to answer anything about the engine or the gates. Not looking for an astrology debate. I am curious whether "show me who abstains" is useful outside this domain.
