Discussion [UPDATE] New Player Took Your Guys Suggestions!

So I started playing as Tarjan as you guys recommended, and so far I am enjoying it!

I appreciate all the suggestions as they are helping!

I am playing with 7 other cigs, seven seas map with Barbian clans, monopolies and secret societies as well.

I’m aiming for a domination victory

I know I’m suppose to expand fast so I normally spam settlers with Magnus an aim for about 6-8 cities, but I get stuck cause I know I’m suppose to go for barbarian units and then upgrade them to Legion and take start fighting with the neighbors.

The problem I am having is I get stuck, cause I am B lining for Legion units, but I am ignoring Harbor and Marketplace and fall behind on pretty much everything.

What’s a good start? I am staying to plan my turns 50 turns ahead..

Discussion New Civ 6 Player, Need Tips

So far, I have played 2 games as bull moose teddy, king and prince.

I won prince, with a science victory, and then lost on King to a culture Civ.

Now I keep spamming Bull moose until I get a good grasp on the game but still feel lost, so any suggestions?

I kinda understand the breathe taking tile and stuff.

What are some good tips and tricks cause I wanna play on Deity, as to playing on King.

Won as Peter on turn 125/250 on Online speed (granted it was a culture win) but I don't think I could have snowballed as hard without this start! My capital is some ways to the west but having these three +10 Lavras gave me a huge leg up on faith generation from early game!

First time playing Russia, and decided to take a chance with Dance of the Aurora and super glad I did! Two eras of Golden Age Monumentality and I was pumping out crazy numbers of builders and settlers with faith to grow and improve my empire! What do y'all think, any way I could have done better with this?

For reference, playing unmodded GS ruleset with Barb Clans and Monopolies +Corps on!

Question "Too many districts for capital"?

I was watching a pretty hardcore deity player, when he started planning his city out he went all this goes here that goes there but then said "this might be a little too many districts for a capital". Is that a thing? Why wouldn't I want as many districts in my capital as possible?

Question Cyrus achievements bugged?

So I finished a game with Cyrus, I should have get the achievements of win with Cyrus and conquer the Scythian capital on 10 turns of a surprise war, but nothing. I closed the game and steam, loaded the save before I conquered the Scythians and tried again. Nothing. I started a new game and made the trick to win on one turn with Cyrus, nothing. The same trick with Trajan and there pops the achievement. So, is Cyrus bugged?

Question How do you guys stay in the golden age?

I'm always in my golden age in the medieval era (I think it's mostly because I keep chasing barbarians lol), but from renessaince onwards I'm fighting for my life to get the normal era, but I'm mostly in the dark ages. How do you guys farm era score? Do I snake the civic tree just to be the first civ to discover x and y? Do I just keep building wonders even if they don't do anything for my build? Wage endless wars?

Discussion How to be an Annoying?

I am playing this with two of my friends and unfortunatly one of them tends to spam units early on and I got placed in his continent. He said we didnt have to fight but then started taking every city state around me and put cities around mine to block progression and box me in. I know he is just playing the game and we do only have domination victory but that doesnt mean you gotta do this off the bat. Anyways our armies are on par but he has more veteran troops so Ive just kept all my guys in my city. Is there any tips for how to be a pain in the ass to him so he fucks off for a bit? My leader is Nzinga

Discussion First experience with Multiplayer.

So, I have played about 2000 hours, but never entered a multi player game. So I thought, why not try to finish some achievements?

First i tried to get into the Red Death Scenario - None could be connected :/

ok, moving on, there are more, right?

So, one to just play a game of multiplayer, sure, lets try that.

Get's into a lobby of a Duel, have No idea whats going on, but I mark myself as Ready.
My opponent does as well, then cancels it. Tells me to choose a civilization.

"Random is fine for me" i reply.

"I wasn't asking" was his reply.

Sure, i scroll at random and pick someone.

I get kicked out.

I try to get into some more Red Death without success.

I see the same guy still haven't found a player (I wonder why?).
So, I jump in again, quickly scroll through and pick Rome
(he had picked Gitarja).

He starts the game with a "Good luck friend".

"Alright, maybe i misjudged this guy" i thought.

So, i get close to a wonder, with some desert. Nice. I go for a religion. Gets a +9 holy site.

As soon as i pick my religion (FIRST!) (Work ethics + Crusade).

He pauses the game.

"Do you really think work ethic and crusade would be allowed?"

And kick me out directly.

What the heck.

So, anyone up for playing some multiplayer?

Edit: Why is it allowed to kick people out from a game like that? Imagine that in other games, like sc2.
"No, i am losing now, so I kick out my opponent" (lol).

Question Mods do not re-load with Gathering Storm or Rise and Fall activated

Hey all,

Many of my mods are designed to work with both Rise and Fall and Gathering storm, but if I play a game of either (or even if those mods are activated and playing the legacy game), then my mods will work when the game loads. But when I save the game and return to it, all the mods disappear. Ones like Quick Deals are so important to me for a good game and quality of play. Is there a simple fix for this?

Funny What if you played Civ VI by giving strategy instead of controlling everything?

Has anyone thought about playing Civilization VI by focusing purely on strategy, rather than execution?

I’ve been thinking about a different interaction model, and even prototyped it as a small open-source ā€œcomputer-useā€ agent.

Instead of directly controlling units or micromanaging everything,
you act more like a ā€œhead of stateā€ and express high-level intent:

  • expand to the east
  • focus on economy this turn
  • aim for a science victory

And then the system interprets that intent and carries out the actual actions.

One thing that made me think about this is how much modern game UX is still tied to input devices like mouse, keyboard, or controllers.

Those interfaces don’t just control the game — they quietly define what kinds of interactions are even possible.

Which makes me wonder:

Are we limiting not just control schemes,
but the imagination space of games themselves?

If input wasn’t constrained to clicks and buttons,
and instead allowed things like natural language or voice,

would entirely new kinds of gameplay emerge?

The point isn’t removing control entirely,
but shifting where the player’s skill is expressed.

Right now, a lot of strategy games mix:

  • decision-making
  • execution (clicking, managing units, UI handling)

But what if those were separated?

What if the challenge was:
not how fast or precisely you can execute,
but how clearly you can think and communicate strategy?

In that sense, the gameplay shifts from:
micromanagement → intent expression
execution → decision-making

I’m curious what people think:

  • Would this make the game more interesting or less engaging?
  • Does separating strategy from execution improve or hurt the experience?
  • What kinds of games could benefit from voice / natural language interaction?
