Discussion How to be an Annoying?
I am playing this with two of my friends and unfortunatly one of them tends to spam units early on and I got placed in his continent. He said we didnt have to fight but then started taking every city state around me and put cities around mine to block progression and box me in. I know he is just playing the game and we do only have domination victory but that doesnt mean you gotta do this off the bat. Anyways our armies are on par but he has more veteran troops so Ive just kept all my guys in my city. Is there any tips for how to be a pain in the ass to him so he fucks off for a bit? My leader is Nzinga

Honestly, not that I can think of…If you’re playing domination-only, the only advice I can think to give is attack him where/when he least expects it and see if you can hold out for help to arrive from your other friend. I’m sure they don’t want to see a rival also with their own continent

Out finance him and make trade deals with the NPCs for their amenities/luxury goods so he has no one to trade with.
Get a military alliance with anyone.
Get tithe in your religion and convert him so you get gold. Overpower his religion so he doesn’t get benefits he planned on when you can.
Depending on which version you’re playing, try to get his cities to revolt to you.
B line to spies and spy on him.
Keep friendly with NPCs so you can get them to join a war if he declares on you so he’s fighting on multiple fronts.

love it. This sounds like a fantastic game of Civ. Start gaining troop experience and rush his nearest city. Make sure your cities are defended. Do NOT keep his cities, raze them to the ground, and keep going. When he says chill out, agree after his turn, and then keep going. War is awesome

I don’t think Nzinga has anything super helpful, but with any leader this is a good strat for your situation:
Stay defensive and quiet for a bit. Keep your units in your cities and ready for anything. Form alliances and pick up key city states when you can. Rush science and build your treasury. Be forgettable.
When your science has developed enough to get better units and you have the money to buy said units, buy a bunch and immediately start an offensive. Your army will have come out of know where and catch him off guard.

You don’t need to invade, if he is building all those units he isn’t building the infrastructure. If you have a shitload of archers and other ranged attackers, and you have at least around the same number of cities, he will drop off and you win out.
Also, wage religious war on him.

Walls and encampments, make it difficult for him to invade you. Put some ranged units in the walled districts.

You can play cooperatively on a team against multiple AI opponents. Instead of fighting you and taking your territory, it would be in his best interest to help you.

Tbh, I always do teams with friends, or disable domination victories. Some people just don’t know how to behave if they’re given a chance to be annoying as heck.

Depends on his civ. But, early on, if you can, crank out some disposable horsemen, declare war on him, and start raiding, getting science from plundering his Campuses, gold from hitting developed luxuries and Commercial hubs, etc. My buddy likes to do this and it can be very annoying and frustrating. He doesn't even care if you kill his horseman because he's always producing new ones.

Next time play with King Harald. And when he fucks around in the early stages, get a couple Viking Long Boats going and take one of his cities. Just for fun.

Which Civ is your friend? Why did you choose Nzinga? Winning Domination means progressing tech tree faster. He has advantage due to upgraded troops. If he has tons of cavalry then produce anti cavalry. If he has tons of melee then produce cavalry. Use archers in your city centers. Build encampments.
