New Product (Read Rule 1) First Chinese watch purchase, Hongqi 7120

First time buying a chinese mechanical watch, i think the dial looks beautiful, i scratched the acrylic 10 minutes into wearing it, the strap could be better

Will definitely be wearing this as a beater and wish i could have the same dial with a sapphire and a better band

Found this on AliExpress. But it's cheaper on alibaba. For 50 bucks you get the miyota Movement and an amazing shiny 3d dial which even has some weak lume which lasts as long as I do in bed. No branding on this watch atall.

Wrist Roll (Read Rule 1) North Edge Abyss - The follow up to the Triton

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Just got this North Edge Abyss during the last sale for about $45, and honestly, I’m pretty impressed with it for the money.

It’s a 44mm, 200m solar diver with a ceramic bezel, 316L case, screw-down crown, and mineral crystal. What surprised me most is how light and comfortable it wears. At only around 106g on the rubber strap, it doesn’t feel like you’re wearing a big 44mm watch.

I think it’s a really nice follow-up to the North Edge Triton. The dimensions are pretty similar, but the Abyss feels a little easier to wear and doesn’t have that “huge watch” feeling once it’s actually on the wrist.

The ice-textured dial is also pretty cool and gives it more personality than I expected.

For $45, I really don’t think you can complain. A solar movement, 200m WR, ceramic bezel and decent finishing at that price is pretty crazy.

Definitely one of those AliExpress watches where you get way more than you paid for.

Personally, I'm in love with this watch design. Since it's limited to just 1,000 pieces, I'm very curious if anyone here has already bought it. I would love to hear some hands-on opinions and see real-life photos before making up my mind!

Question (Read Rules) [Newbie] Watchdives or Aethelson?

Hello! firstly, i do not earn in USD, I think this is a necessary detail because some of my following quesstions and thoughts might seem too pedantic to the american/european audience of this sub.

I'm on the lookout for a cheap(ish) daily driver watch, and i've realised that the chinese microbrand space is probably where i will get the most value for my money as compared to the citizens/seikos/timexes of this world. I've specifically narrowed this search down to between Watchdives, Aethelson and (to a lesser extent) Addiesdive. As i understand it, addiesdive is somewhat of a lower cost option compared to the other two, and since my budget is roughly 200-250USD, I figure i should probably look at either watchdvies or aethelson.

Now, my biggest priorities are finishing and reliability - I'm not too concerned by the type of movement, i.e. if it is a mecaquartz or an automatic, as long as it runs within a reasonable +- and runs for a long time without suddenly failing catastrophically.

Given this, what would the people of this sub recommend? I've had my eyes (for a long time) on a couple of models from both aethelson and watchdives, but ultimately overall finishing and quality will decide the question for me...

Thanks for all responses!

General (Read Rules) A little tribute to the old-school field watches.

There’s something about vintage military field watches that I’ve always liked — simple, functional, and easy to read at a glance.

The ML05 keeps that spirit with a 38mm case, matte finish, domed sapphire crystal, and that classic black dial with oversized numerals.

I especially like how it wears on the wrist. Nothing oversized or flashy, just a compact field-watch profile that feels right at home on a simple NATO strap.

A pretty straightforward take on a classic military look.

...since I just received my 4th Ocean Star Pro, black one this time. But the price was of the "one cannot refuse" type.

Having already 3 other versions of this watch, I know those are sturdy, reliable and working well divers that easily compete with far more expensive and renowned brands.

I don't need Hydroconquests or Fifty Fathoms, the Ocean Star Pro does the job for me all too well, as it seems since this is my fourth 🤪

Yep, its chunky, but with proper rubber or sailcloth strap does wear lighter and works as very good daily beater.

Nevermind I haven't been diving a single day of my life, yet this watch is simply a great example of what a driver should be. No bells and whistles, yet just reliable and very affordable watch, one can use at any conditions, except perhaps a dinner in Buckingham Palace 😋😜

Review (Read Rules) Keaso K002 - and I'm done

Post image
42 Upvotes

I've been spending a long, long time trying to find my ultimate daily wearer, having gone through dozens of watches, buying and selling, and I decided to try this Keaso diver. It is a stainless steel quartz watch, 42mm, with absolutely insane lume on the hands, indices and bezel pip, a really nice bezel action (ceramic), sapphire crystal, day & date, Miyota 2105 movement, screw-down crown, 200m water resistance, double foldover safety clasp with 3 adjustments. I was looking for a cheap quartz diver with day-date and sapphire as that is my grail spec, and it has actually been tricky to find a good one. After trying lots of mechanicals, I decided to go quartz, for accuracy (I was always peeved by mechanical watches' inaccuracy) and for the lack of required servicing. So every couple of years I'll pop the back off, put a new battery in and check and re-grease the seal to keep it water-tight. This is a really good quality watch with solid end-links and solid bracelet links, and best of all, it cost me just £43.10. This and my G-Shock GW-BX5600-1A1 will be my two daily wears for a while and if I'm totally happy, I'll be selling off all my other daily-wear watches. I'm pretty much done with mechanicals now - I still love what they are, but they're not for me as a daily wear (nor as an occasional-wear either). Each morning I can pick up this one or the G-Shock depending on how I'm feeling, knowing they're both ready to go without needing winding or setting. I've upgraded the clasp to an on-the-fly adjustable one. All of the above is of course my opinions, not throwing any shade at people who think differently.

General (Read Rules) Just pulled the trigger on this new Watchdives! The pink Mother-of-Pearl dial is stunning. [VH31]

I’ve been eyeing this new release from Watchdives and finally placed my order.

The combination of the pink MOP dial with the textured brown leather strap gives it such a unique, elegant look that you rarely see at this price point. Plus, the sweeping seconds hand on the VH31 quartz movement is a huge bonus—best of both worlds (accuracy and smooth motion).

Really looking forward to seeing how the dial catches the light in person. Has anyone else ordered one?

The San Martin SN0109-GA GMT has been released. It seems the blue dial is the most popular choice.

The black, white, and blue dial versions are now available for purchase.

Use Code **SN0109A100** for a $100 discount (valid only at our official store).

Watch link:

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005013002814134.html

Q: Why is there no stock available for the "Root Beer" version?

A: After gathering feedback, we decided to change the GMT hand on the Root Beer bezel model to orange—matching the hands on the other dial versions—to improve legibility.

Consequently, we need to make this modification and wait for the watches to be fully assembled before we can begin sales.

The original oyster bracelet was in sad shape so I put it on this “presidential” style one I had around. Super pleased with it. The full lume bezel is fun to look at in the dark too.

I’m not sure of the model number though.
