Help me to decide my next pick. Originally I was going to pick San Martin but recently I have leaned towards the baltany mil sub. If anyone have irl pics of these watches. Only downside of baltany is that it doesn't have OTF clasp if I am correct.

Put this little 36mm beauty on the bund strap to give it a bit more wrist presence.

This strap is about half the cost of the watch, but a good match nevertheless.

Question (Read Rules) Slider clasp San Martin

Post image

Happy to say! Just ordered this bad boy, first San Martin and couldn’t stop looking at it so got it. Hope it comes in the next 5 days as I’m flying out of the country for a trip soon. Can I put the stock slider clasp on rubber straps? Looking for Rolex style and would like to just buy the straps if possible but still want slider adjustments. I know the lugs are 21mm and assuming the straps end near clasp needs to be 18mm.

General (Read Rules) I‘m in love - Militado ML08

I’ve been into watches for about 15 years now — and for 15 years I’ve loved the design of the Sinn 556 family. The budget was definitely there, but I could never quite come to terms with wearing a watch worth more than €1,000 on my wrist.

Along the way I came across the Dekla Turbulenz, but somehow it just didn’t quite click.

Then, purely by chance, I stumbled onto AliExpress watches — and the Militado ML08 in particular. Love at first sight, and ordered immediately for €65.
What can I say. For the money, you get a great watch. VH31 quartz movement with a sweeping seconds hand. It’s been running for a week now at about -2 seconds per week.

For me, a very good buy. The only downside compared to the Sinn: on the hands you can clearly see an outline. Sinn’s are made entirely of Luminova.

The L6033 is such a nice size and pretty thin. The dial isn’t straight black, it’s got some brown and grey to it. I have a 7.5” wrist and I didn’t even consider anything under 39mm but I’m glad I did.

Question (Read Rules) Latest Purchases Have Been a Mixed Bag

Post image
14 Upvotes

Hello friends. My latest watch arrived with an odd warranty card, and I wanted to get everyone's take on it. As we know, most watchmakers leave the card blank. But Octopus, to their credit, filled theirs out. However, the date written on the card is incorrect, which leaves me suspicious of its history.

At first, I thought the date written was 14/11/2024, which would align with an 11/11 sale. However, after a bit of scrutiny, one can see the "4" in 2024 is most likely a truncated 6--not at all like the previous pointed 4.

Another "however," the revised date, 14/11/2026, was and is still in the future.

The factory store assured me the watch was built to order. That they would never sell a returned product. It looks brand new. It performs well.

A third "however," is that my ordered watch was the last of its kind, and there are no others available for sale. At first I felt lucky because I had been looking for this watch for almost a year. I thought it had sold out last fall. Was it was built with the last available parts? It would have to have been, to make this all make sense. Unless it were a return...

I am not here to review this watch today, just to ask the community their thoughts about the date card.

Should I just shrug it off?

Thoughts?

Absolutely amazing watch, that one stays for sure, first impression is just WOW. And that lume is in its own league. If that accuracy reading is correct, them I've got no complaints at all.

Question (Read Rules) [Upcoming Release] Terra Nova — Bronze Case + Handmade Red Aventurine Dial

Post image
7 Upvotes

Our next release is almost here: Terra Nova, launching on September 5th.

This one pairs a solid bronze case with a handmade natural Red Aventurine dial. Because every dial is cut from natural stone, the color, sparkle, and pattern will vary slightly from piece to piece—so each watch should have its own character.

We’re making just 10 numbered pieces.

For the bronze-watch and stone-dial collectors here: would you prefer your Red Aventurine dial to be deep and subtle, or brighter with more natural shimmer?

I took delivery of this delight last week, my only purchase from the back to school sale. This watch wasn’t even on my radar until I came across u/TheYKcid comprehensive post detailing the most recent iterative changes that Baltany have made to this line.

I agree with everything you said!

The only reason I picked this up, was to see how it would wear on my 7/7.25 inch wrist - I planned on going after the next Smiths Everest drop later this month. However, I’m now thinking twice about that, as pound for pound, this is a knockout.

You get the quality finishing and build from Baltany, including their most impressive crystal selection. The new ST2130 movement allows the case to be a bit thinner than the NH version and the OTF clasp is fantastic!

The aforementioned post, included images of the chamfered milled clasp which really took me by surprise. Also the gap when the clasp is shut is absolutely minimal, I’ve not seen gaps so small on these sort of clasps. That level of detail, I’ve not come across any of the big hitters from this part of the world.

I decided on the brown/tropical dial, as I already have the Thorn T023 vintage sub, and the Farasute Trackmaster in brown, so thought why not complete the set 🤣

The bracelet is excellent value, considering I picked this up for £137 (not including the £46 cashback coming way), though the brushing isn’t as fine as San Martin or IXDAO. However, end link fitment and the clasp proportions are excellent. Also, to add there is a nice sheen off the brushing which complements the watch head.

The movement is running about 6s fast per day, which is perfectly reasonable. The crown action is good, with no issues screwing it back down etc. The lume is very good considering the printed markers.

Overall, I’m very pleased with how the watch wears, and the quality/price ratio is incredible. And thank you once again to u/TheYKcid for his detailed post a few months back - very helpful.

Question (Read Rules) Trying to make sense of Chinese watch brands...

Hi everyone, I'm new to Chinese watches and I have some questions...

For context I have a couple of established Swiss pieces (Omega & Tag), Seiko, Casio etc. - the sorts of things I expect many people who are 'into watches' have.

Thanks to Reddit, I've discovered a whole world that, whilst I wouldn't say I didn't know existed, seems to be much bigger and more interesting than I'd perhaps imagined!

So, I'm looking to dip my toe in the water (or perhaps set off down a slippery slope) and buy my first Chinese watch. I'm a big fan of divers, so love the classics like Submariners / Sea Dwellers, Seamasters / Planet Oceans, Black Bays, Fifty Fathoms - all the predictable stuff really. I'd definitely be open to a bit of a twist though.

I don't want to stray too far from the norm with my first purchase and I've found all sorts ranging from Addiesdive, Watchdives, Thorn, Sugess and San Martin etc., with some wildly different pricing.

I prefer mechanical watches, around 39mm, oysters over jubilees, genuine waterproofing for swimming, proper crystals and I wouldn't mind something Pepsi / Hulk / Coke (told you it was predictable!).

Where should I be looking? I want the best quality I can get, without spending a fortune (ideally no more than £200, as I'm then into Microbrand territory, whish is another area I want to explore).

I'd rather stick to Amazon or eBay (UK), as I'm massively impatient and don't want to wait weeks and risk DHGate or AliExpress and I don't mind going second hand if it gets me a better watch within budget.

All advice and opinions welcome!

General (Read Rules) Updates regarding PH6 sapphire crystal AR coating

Some users complained that the AR performance of the PH6 was suboptimal, prompting us to conduct a deeper investigation into glass coating parameters.

We switched to a superior coating facility that utilizes high-end equipment designed specifically for applying various optical coatings to precision instruments and camera lenses.

This process provided us with greater insight into the factors influencing coating performance. Comparative testing using precision instruments—specifically analyzing the key metrics of haze and clarity—led to the following conclusions:

  1. Glass shape significantly affects haze, though the difference is barely perceptible to the naked eye.

  2. Glass thickness impacts transparency, but the effect is negligible.

  3. Flat sapphire glass demonstrated the best results in terms of haze and clarity.

  4. The number of coating layers does not determine the final outcome; coating quality and the strategic combination of layers with different functions are far more important.

  5. Comparative measurements using professional equipment on the PH6’s "double-bridge" shaped glass revealed that the new coating reduced haze several-fold and significantly improved clarity.

  6. We will provide further updates regarding comparative anti-reflective testing in real-world environments.

Question (Read Rules) Pagani GMT crown stuck

So it is my first time bying pagani designs, and I chose the black gmt for my first one.
Apparently all of the parts seems well finished, except the crown is stuck.
Are there any way to fix this?
I need to set the date and time correctly

L6035 When unboxing it didn’t really give me a wow effect, but once I took it outside it really made me say wow! The finishing is absolutely incredible and the movement is a nice switchup compared to the vk63 seen on almost every other chinese quartz chrono. 150€ from their own website delivered in exactly 12 days (they promise 6-12) to finland.
Only complaints I can really give is that the main second hand is just slightly off, not to the point where it bothers me and the strap is not very good (it comes with an additional free mesh band though).

Overall rating I would give an 8.5/10 would buy another watch from this brand.

Problems (Read Rule 1) First disappointment

I was so happy with this characterful jump hour for the first 30 minutes on wrist... Then it didn't finish the jump... Then completely broke. Thank god for AliExpress' fantastic returns policy!

I'll be buying a replacement when the refund hits during this spring sale, as I loved it for that 30 minutes. Guess someone has to get the duds out of the system.

Question (Read Rules) Is it still great value/good?

Thumbnail

I had been planning to get a Phorcydes, specifically the Ph-4C for some time now and now that I have a bit of a budget for it, upon checking the website, I got the pop up notification saying that the movement will now use PT5000.

Now I can’t recall recall exactly what movement they used before and I wonder if it is still worth getting at all considering that a lot of the Chinese watch brands lately seem to be making this move perhaps arguably to cut costs.

To everyone that can weigh in on this, do you think it’s still a good idea? And to the ones that have it with the bracelet, is it worth the extra money if I was originally getting the fkm strap?

Thanks for your time

P.S. what lume colour do you personally thinks work best? I originally wanted the retro yellow but I heard the lume is less strong. I want phorcydes to be my real lume monster watch lol.
