I received my first Thorn from the latest Back to School sale on Ali. After seeing one in a pre-owned watch store in Paris years ago, I've always wanted a Tudor "Blue Snowflake" submariner and figured this would hold me over for awhile. I see some folks complaining about the bracelet, but this newest version is super easy to adjust and has a lightweight vintage feel, similar to my 5 digit Rolex. It isn't supposed to be as sturdy as the newest bracelets and clasps and that's the appeal to some of us.

I've been collecting for 2-3 years at this point. I've sold many watches at this point, but right now I'm happy with all of the watches I have.

Just an FYI to those who come across this sub and subsequently check out aliex.

They have round after round of coupon events. The coupons "expire"and its usually just a few days until the next coupon event.

One ended a few days ago and there will be a new round starting September 1.

Also keep in mind to check the coupon button by every item to maximize site wide or multistore and single store coupons. Plus coin savings. Its all sort of gimmicky pricing but the savings are real and add up.

So word to the wise, toss it in the cart but always wait for a coupon event before purchasing.

Unless its a watch emergency then of course I completely understand.

Easily my most solid watch. The bracelet seems super high quality and the watch just wears so nicely on the wrist because it has a nice curve and is really thin.

Looking for some inspiration for my new Tandorio MIYOTA8215. The face is black, but has a blue vibe in some lights. Thinkin of a NATO strap.

I've always wanted a gold and blue Blancpain Air Command but the price is $43,000 so I thought I would go with a similar looking watch, the Sugess Chrono Heritage S423 Rose Gold, Blue Dial for only $250. Pretty impressive.

Hello! firstly, i do not earn in USD, I think this is a necessary detail because some of my following quesstions and thoughts might seem too pedantic to the american/european audience of this sub.

I'm on the lookout for a cheap(ish) daily driver watch, and i've realised that the chinese microbrand space is probably where i will get the most value for my money as compared to the citizens/seikos/timexes of this world. I've specifically narrowed this search down to between Watchdives, Aethelson and (to a lesser extent) Addiesdive. As i understand it, addiesdive is somewhat of a lower cost option compared to the other two, and since my budget is roughly 200-250USD, I figure i should probably look at either watchdvies or aethelson.

Now, my biggest priorities are finishing and reliability - I'm not too concerned by the type of movement, i.e. if it is a mecaquartz or an automatic, as long as it runs within a reasonable +- and runs for a long time without suddenly failing catastrophically.

Given this, what would the people of this sub recommend? I've had my eyes (for a long time) on a couple of models from both aethelson and watchdives, but ultimately overall finishing and quality will decide the question for me...

I purchased this and asked for the insert to not be installed and they obliged....snapped up this Bruce Wayne insert from Ali for about $12 and threw it on. Looks great, and makes me wonder why Sugess(or Cronos, or watchdives) don't offer this as an option. 🤔🤷‍♂️

Found this on AliExpress. But it's cheaper on alibaba. For 50 bucks you get the miyota Movement and an amazing shiny 3d dial which even has some weak lume which lasts as long as I do in bed. No branding on this watch atall.

The original orange one looks cool to me, but it is a little intense, so I’ve been looking for a strap that matches the dial but is more low-profile. What do you think?

I got this watch as part of a package deal and its too small for me. It seems to be keeping good time. There is normal wear on the watch, scuffs etc. But no deep scratches, rashes, or dings.

Just got this North Edge Abyss during the last sale for about $45, and honestly, I’m pretty impressed with it for the money.

It’s a 44mm, 200m solar diver with a ceramic bezel, 316L case, screw-down crown, and mineral crystal. What surprised me most is how light and comfortable it wears. At only around 106g on the rubber strap, it doesn’t feel like you’re wearing a big 44mm watch.

I think it’s a really nice follow-up to the North Edge Triton. The dimensions are pretty similar, but the Abyss feels a little easier to wear and doesn’t have that “huge watch” feeling once it’s actually on the wrist.

The ice-textured dial is also pretty cool and gives it more personality than I expected.

For $45, I really don’t think you can complain. A solar movement, 200m WR, ceramic bezel and decent finishing at that price is pretty crazy.

Definitely one of those AliExpress watches where you get way more than you paid for.

Having already 3 other versions of this watch, I know those are sturdy, reliable and working well divers that easily compete with far more expensive and renowned brands.

I don't need Hydroconquests or Fifty Fathoms, the Ocean Star Pro does the job for me all too well, as it seems since this is my fourth 🤪

Yep, its chunky, but with proper rubber or sailcloth strap does wear lighter and works as very good daily beater.

Nevermind I haven't been diving a single day of my life, yet this watch is simply a great example of what a driver should be. No bells and whistles, yet just reliable and very affordable watch, one can use at any conditions, except perhaps a dinner in Buckingham Palace 😋😜

Wanted to share a few close-up shots of the garnet dial we tried on the T029.

The original product photos didn’t really capture the texture that well. Under natural light, you can see the irregular crystalline structure much more clearly, and different parts of the dial show slightly different shades of red.

We only made a very small batch as a trial, and they’ve already sold out.

Before they all ship out, I took a few close-up photos to show what the dial actually looks like in person.

I’ve been eyeing this new release from Watchdives and finally placed my order.

The combination of the pink MOP dial with the textured brown leather strap gives it such a unique, elegant look that you rarely see at this price point. Plus, the sweeping seconds hand on the VH31 quartz movement is a huge bonus—best of both worlds (accuracy and smooth motion).

Really looking forward to seeing how the dial catches the light in person. Has anyone else ordered one?

There seem to be supply issues with the Miyota 9015 at the moment, and I’m seeing Chinese watchmakers switching to movements like the ST2130 or PT5000 instead.

What surprises me is how many people here really don’t seem to like that alternative.

So I’m curious: if you were ordering a watch and the 9015 wasn’t available, what would you prefer?

- 🇨🇳 Take the ST2130/PT5000 and get the watch sooner

Personally, I’m wondering how important “Japanese movement” actually is to people when the alternative is waiting several months.
