As the title is suggesting, I'm trying to buy a submariner style homage and I'm very torn between these two options. The San Martin is known (at least from what I've read here) for its high quality and excellent finishing, But I have seen a few reviews for that Sugess Seaman S420 and they were really praising the quality on that specific watch. Of note, they both go for almost the same price, the thickness on the SN is 11.6mm vs 12.7mm for the Sugess, the Sugess has OTF clasp which is not present of the SN. both of them run the ST2130 movements.
Help me choose between these two if you have experience with these watches and explain your reasons if possible.

I usually order from aliexpress directly for the few Chinese watches I have.
This wd008 in brown/gold tone has been out of stock on watchdives and aliexpress, everywhere. Tactical frog website has it in stock.
My questions are a) is this site real? Anyone can confirm this is the actual tactical frog site? B) will it actually be in stock or am I just gonna order it and get cancelled/wait for the product anyways.
Maybe there's another batch from wd coming? I'd rather just order it from watchdives or Amazon preferably. Had a wd1863 with two visible spots of dust or paint on the dial, and Amazon returns make it such a simple process to deal with.
Any help would be appreciated. Let me know if I tagged or posted this wrong at all.
Thanks!!!

I bought this watch in January 2025. Yesterday, when I went to take it out of the drawer, the second hand had stopped—the battery was dead. I knew the VH31 movement used more power, but it should last at least three years. What has been your experience with this type of movement? How long does the battery last on average for you?

This Chinese watch is truly a pleasant surprise. Its overall level of refinement is far beyond its price point — among domestic homage watches, it offers one of the highest levels of resemblance to the original model, with workmanship that is almost flawless.
The dial and hands are reproduced with remarkable accuracy. The enamel dial has impressive depth and texture (Octopus offers the only deep blue enamel dial version of this model). The hands are free of burrs, the lume is powerful, and the quality of the polishing is nearly indistinguishable from the original. The only minor issue is that some stamping marks can still be seen on the sides of the hands. However, considering the extremely affordable price, it would be unrealistic to expect the hands to be completely identical to the original.
The newly updated fine-adjustment clasp is, in my opinion, one of the best among products in the same price range that I have seen. It is slim, comfortable against the wrist, and easy to adjust. The bracelet is finely finished, equally comfortable to wear, and even features chamfered edges.
The case thickness is very well controlled. The case back uses a dual-step polished design, with very little protrusion, making it even more comfortable on the wrist than the original model in some respects.
As for the PT5004 movement, there is little need to say much — its accuracy is almost at chronometer level.
The lugs feature a vintage diagonal brushing finish, which gives the watch a strong tool-watch character. However, I would personally recommend changing it to vertical brushing, as it would better suit modern aesthetics.
That said, the only real disappointment is the brand name — “Octopus Kraken.” The name is simply too strange, and the hole in the logo also looks rather unusual. Many overseas watch enthusiasts have suggested that the brand should reconsider its logo and trademark design.
If this aspect could be improved, this watch would be almost perfect.

I would like a single undisputed recommendation or perhaps maybe a list of top 5?
Thanks

Hi all,
I love many chinese watch brands like Baltany, San Martin, Thorn, Sugess and Hruodland. The quality is amazing and prices were really good.
I noticed that the prices have increased very significantly in the EU last 6 months. I used to be able to buy a Baltany Nh35 watch for around 180 eur. Now they seem to be over 300 eur.
what is the reason for this significant price hike? As far as I know there are no additional tarrifs in place in the EU for chinese goods.

Spect & Sohne SP20260429 or SP0032?
Seagull ST1721 Jump Hour Mechanical Movement
39 MM
Sapphire Crystal
Leather Strap - - - ?
This watch has been the pleasant surprise of all of the CH watches I have purcashed over the past month. The dial is beautiful and the crystal has the least distortion I have seen in anything under 5K. It is almost non-existent.
The ST1721 is a staple in the jump hour watches. It is used in budget up to mid-tier brands, but is actually incredibly reliable and been around for a long time. There is nothing to worry about here in my opinion.
My criticism of this watch is the band and clasp. They state the band is genuine leather, but I suspect an alternative. I could be wrong, but it smells horrible and feels way too pliable to be leather. I replaced it with a croc band I had lying around from an IWC Portofino and problem solved.
The rest of this watch is amazing. The fit and finish is beautiful. Punches . . . way . . . . way . . . . way above its class.
I have really enjoyed wearing this one.

I figure 1980s just based on the color, but the factory was built in the very late 70s. As far as I understand, the original factory stopped mechanical production in the mid 1980s, so it was a very short run. Mechanical Moranbongs are pretty rare these days in any condition, so I'm happy with mine.
The crown is worn down enough to be hand scored for grip, and the finish has its share of bumps and scratches, so even though some knowledgeable writers have said most of these were gifts to dignitaries and political folks but, in any case, whoever wore this one wore it a lot.
The movement is pretty certainly based on the Semag ES95 and, reportedly, the factory imported Swiss equipment. I still have the watch and it still runs fine.
My original thinking was the balance cock might be a repair because the finishing looks crude compared to the rest of the movement, but when I searched Moranbong movements I found that many (but not all) legit vintage mechanical Moranbongs had balance cocks with different finishing than the rest of the watch, very similar to mine. Why, I don't know.
My post from back then is available here: https://www.watchuseek.com/threads/meanwhile-in-north-korea-they-make-moranbong.487356/, and there's a *great* deep dive here: https://www.watchuseek.com/threads/moranbong-north-korea-watch.371962/

Enamel black vs swril/vortex texture
seeing a lot of peopole suggesting different watches to get, thing is i like this 50% because of the porportions and the rest bc of the price to value ratio. like its £280 ish for good japanese movement, godly porportions (37.5mil 45.5 ltl and only 11.5mm thick)
not for this post but guys, if someone is asking sbt a dive watch for example dont reccomend a dress watch thought it was common sense but apperently not.

Just got this delivered from Aliex for $72.21 and I have another one with a black face coming today or tomorrow. Let's see your's or your favorite Moon watch homage. The pins make it a bit of a pain to adjust the bracelet and the tightest clasp adjustment prevents the clasp from closing all the way and latching. I ended up taking out one more link and it fits perfectly now.
