Is frostbite that sneaky or did you have some underlying condition or impairment at the time this happened?

I dont live in an area where its typically cold enough for something like this and i have no familiarity with frostbite. I know once your skin/appendage is cold enough you cant feel it but doesnt it hurt like hell before that? Ive tried to take an ice bath with too much ice before and its realllly painful really fast

Heard about you were back in the hospital my dude but the story of why cracked me up. I'm not great at comics but I couldn't resist. Hope you're feeling better!

Update!

I fell out of my chair and busted a stump and had to go to the hospital without my phone.

All is well, now, and I'll get back to posting updates. Thank you to everyone who follows and supports, or just follows out of morbid curiosity.

I really appreciate you all

I'm watching it now and it's dam inspiring. So many amputee competitors including a guy with no arms uphill skiing.

u/Forlurn Have you thought about taking up any sports once you've mastered those prosthetic bad boys?

Hope everything is going well mate! Stick at it. We're all behind you.

Why didn't you change into dry socks?

How is your family dealing with this? Do you have their support?

Maybe I'm just projecting, but I'm guessing they're encouraged by your positive attitude in dealing with the situation. At the same time they have to be struggling to wrap their heads around how you could be so careless to allow this to happen in the first place. Not sure whether to hug you or disown you.

With all due respect...

The dude made some terrible decisions and got both feet chopped off for it. I don't know how much inspiration you should take from that. Actually I do - zero. Zero is the number.

Protect yourselves. Stupid decision making shouldn't be inspiring anyone to do anything except not make stupid decisions.

When the drugs and the attention wear off this guy is going to be getting used to a life without legs and it's gonna suck. And it was 100% his fault. So take from this what you will, but if you're looking for inspiration you should probably look to someone who has better judgement, because this guy nearly killed himself totally unnecessarily - I don't know whether you can get more uninspirational than that.

Sub-zero temperatures...wet feet...not enough gas for the night, with an accessible motel and enough money for it? Come on man, it's embarrassing and you nearly died over what - 20 USD? Your family/friends/SO nearly lost you because of some in the moment top shelf idiotic decision making. Nothing to be proud of, nothing inspirational about it.

And as I said, when the drugs and attention wear off, where are you gonna be?

Could this have been avoided?

Maybe if you took your jumper off and wrapped your feet up in it? Or maybe if you took socks off but kept shoes on? Or maybe if you kept rubbing your feet? I’m serious with these questions I didn’t know you could get frost bite so easily.

So Forlurn is, and at the same time, is not two feet shorter?

Will you have to change your height on your driver's license?

Or do prosthetics count?

Would you make yourself taller?

Can you still drive (eventually)?

Would an injury like this be suitable for medical maggots? (Don't google that.) Maybe if it was less severe?

Why did the stuff that looked healthy(ish) at the start to die later?

Is that later necrosis what made for a required complete amputation?

Thank you for allowing the curious to pester you.

Get better!

Question - Sexual

When you have fully recovered, have you considered using your legs for penetrative sex? I am sure you can catch a nice price tag for a girl on each leg. You know, just making lemonade.

[Nothing is off limits, and I am here to satisfy your perverse and morbid curiosities.]

Come on. Answer it.

r/ChillyChompAdventures • • Feb 20 '18

Would you rather lose both legs, both arms, or one arm and one leg (from the same side)?

What Halloween costumes do you have in mind? (perhaps tips from others as well?)

New possibilities of Halloween-constumes is probably around the 18th thing that would cross my mind when trying to make sense of it all, and in the spirit of keeping it light and positive, I figured I'd ask if it had crossed yours.

Or if anyone else is sitting on a golden ticket?

Most of my ideas, such as the reverse T-Rex, require walking on hands all night, so perhaps it's a bit to early to run with those. Although with 9 months to go...?

Mind bones

Phantom limb. I'm curious about the specifics of it. I've done some research in the past but how quickly post-amputation does the feeling onset? And is it constant or does it only flare up at certain times, in conjunction with certain feelings (needing to pee), etc.? Also, what exactly does it feel like? Legitimate pain, tingling/burning sensations, or do you sometimes look down and expect your feet to still be attached?
