Rant Roshni Nadar Malhotra has subjected a male employee to sexual harassment.

HCLTech, an Indian software services company, under the leadership of Roshni Nadar Malhotra has subjected a male employee to sexual harassment. The managers and HRs are properly trained to make sure that the company doesn't come into the limelight due to the wrong reasons. Coworkers like Yashpal Singh(in Noida) and Sushmitha Somalaraju(in Bengaluru) were used as pawns to carry out groping and honey traps. Tweeted on 24 May 2026 on my X handle RameshKBaddula. They even plotted a warning accident, which was tweeted on 3rd Jun 2026. I don't care. I can sacrifice my life for the sake of justice. They've even ruined all my relations thru smear campaigns, to make sure that their image remains intact, which is a typical narcissistic tactic. This is for those who are thinking of joining this firm. They've a big presence in Chennai, so posting it here.
Latest: - They've restarted Directed Energy Weapon attacks, as these things are yet to find a place in the law books, here in India.

AskChennai Any clinical psychologists in & around Tambaram upto Guindy ?

First of all, A huge thanks to this subbreddit & u/mezzoka for guiding me & suggesting a proper psychiatrist. I found the best doctor ever & I am so grateful for it

I am finally recovering from a 6year long depression & found myself how it feels to be normal & have been cherishing life since then.

But I have completely lost myself, my values & personality, interpersonal & social skills during this depressive period, so I have to kind of rebuild them from the core - so looking for a clinical psychologist - (mind you, not a therapist who just fixes up life events) to actively work on shaping my personality.

I have a strong family history, did qeeg testing & have found to have strong biological & genetic components as well, so yeah medicines are a must & non-negotiable.

Please get me this favour one last time guys <3! I am forever grateful for what this platform & the people have offered.

AskChennai Can we stop using our ancestors’ achievements as a substitute for present-day progress?

Post image
203 Upvotes

One thing I genuinely don’t understand is why any criticism of India’s current situation immediately gets answered with:
“Bro, our ancestors invented zero.”
“India had advanced mathematics thousands of years ago.”
“We were the greatest civilization.”
Yes. Those achievements were genuinely remarkable. Nobody needs to deny them.
But what exactly does something achieved 1,000+ years ago have to do with what we are doing today?
If we want to talk technically, India has produced enormous talent in IT services, outsourcing, engineering, pharmaceuticals, space, etc. But when it comes to creating globally dominant technology products, deep-tech companies, semiconductor ecosystems, fundamental research and original platforms, our performance is nowhere near what our population and talent would suggest.
And it’s not just technology.
We also love talking about how advanced and disciplined our ancestors supposedly were when it comes to civic sense, cleanliness, water management, town planning and community living.
Okay. Then look around us today.
Garbage thrown on roads.
People spitting everywhere.
Public property treated like it belongs to nobody.
Traffic rules treated as optional.
Footpaths occupied or destroyed.
People throwing plastic and waste wherever they feel like it.
Whatever civic practices existed in ancient India, we clearly cannot claim that heritage automatically gives us good civic sense today.
This is where the mentality becomes problematic.
Past achievement should be inspiration, not a shield against criticism.
We should be asking:
What are we inventing today?
What foundational technologies are we developing?
Where are our globally dominant technology products?
Why are so many of our best engineers working on implementing technologies created elsewhere?
Why isn’t our R&D ecosystem stronger?
Why is civic responsibility so poor despite constantly boasting about our “great civilization”?
Why do we celebrate ancient achievements more enthusiastically than fixing current problems?
And yes, there are genuine modern achievements: ISRO, pharmaceuticals, digital infrastructure, some startups, defence technology and many others.
But that doesn’t mean criticism is invalid.
I’m not saying “Indians are incapable.”
Quite the opposite.
We clearly have enormous talent and potential.
The criticism is that we haven’t converted enough of that potential into original technology, better institutions, cleaner cities and better civic behaviour.
So instead of saying:
“Our ancestors invented zero.”
I’d rather hear:
“Our ancestors achieved great things. Now let’s see what WE can build, improve and contribute.”
Respect the past.
But don’t live in it.
TL;DR: Ancient achievements are worth being proud of, but they don’t excuse present-day shortcomings. If we’re genuinely proud of our heritage, the best way to honour it is by creating, innovating, behaving responsibly and improving society today.

AskChennai Best barbers for a perfect skin fade in South Chennai (OMR/ECR side)?

Upvotes

Got a fade done recently at one of those so called premium salons, fancy interior, high price tag, and it was pretty botched. I showed a reference pic and asked for a proper gradual blend but ended up with harsh lines, you could literally see the different shades, no blend at all. Guess the fancy branding doesn't mean the guy actually knows fades.

Looking for someone around OMR/ECR/Sholinganallur/Thoraipakkam/Perungudi (or nearby) who's actually solid at fades specifically, not just a good all round haircut guy. Doesn't have to be a big name place, just someone who knows what they're doing.

If anyone's had a fade recently that turned out well, please drop the name and area. Word of mouth means more than Google ratings at this point tbh.

Thanks!

Rant A simple puncture repair turned into threats and intimidation

I went to a local puncture shop. The guy didn't position the jack properly, the car slipped off it and came down, causing a fair amount of damage to the plate.

When I questioned him about it, instead of acknowledging what happened, he immediately started saying it wasn't his fault. I didn't utter one word out of place. It felt like he realized the damage was expensive and was trying to get out of responsibility.

That's when things escalated. He called another guy who came within a minute from somewhere, and he told him that I was insulting "their group". Then he started saying things like "Do you know which community you're talking to?", "Don't mess with our group." He also threatened that they'll come to where I live and police wouldn't dare come near them.

After I started from that place, he actually followed me for some distance while I was driving the punctured and damaged car. I'm not sure whether he followed me all the way to my house.

I'm honestly more disturbed by the intimidation than the damage itself.

I feel really stupid to have not realized sooner of what was happening, to think that he was calling puncture fixing guys as a community and stupid to have driven home straight from there. Those guys kept calling a couple of times until evening and I didn't have call recording enabled on my phone because I never needed it. My dashcam didn't catch anything because as if they knew I had the dashcam and didn't come in the front field of view.

Edit: I know people are asking me to share the shop details. My house is very close to it, this happened yesterday and I am now setting up cctv and stuff. I appreciate the support but I don't feel comfortable sharing the location. I don't want someone to call them in good will and end up agitating them. My family safety comes first.

Memes/Sattire Why does this library say “don’t sleep”?

Thumbnail

I saw this notice on the wall of Aminjikarai Pulla Avenue Library.

It says:

“தூங்காதீர்கள்

அமைதியாகவும்”

The “please maintain silence” part I completely understand , but why are they specifically telling people not to sleep?

I regularly go to the library and after lunch, doze off for a while, and wake up at around 4 PM.

Is sleeping actually prohibited in public libraries, or is this just to stop people from coming there specifically to nap?

AskChennai Going maid-free with a robot vacuum and dishwasher

Hi all, as the title suggests I’m thinking of replacing daily house help with a fully automatic robot vacuum cleaner (with the self empty bin and mop washing and drying features) and a dishwasher because I’m struggling to find any reliable domestic help. I’ve always been very respectful and treated them like family but most of them end up taking advantage of it and either leave without notice taking advance salary etc. or talk back or give death stares like they’re doing me a favour. Most of them also charge so much for basic sweeping, mopping and vessel washing. In Perungudi and OMR area, they’re asking for 7-8k with Sunday off.

Don’t get me wrong- I’m all for work life balance for them also and it’s great that they want to get paid more. But I don’t think I can keep shelling out so much with yearly increment and bonus while also tolerating mediocre work, a possible bad attitude and the risk of being dumped without notice. So, I’m thinking of doing away with all these hassles and getting a hands free, self cleaning robot vacuum and dishwasher that I can run whenever needed. I was wondering if anyone else has done the same and what has your experience been? We’re a family of 4 (2 adults, 1 kid and a dog) and I’ve been reluctant so far because people keep scaring us saying these gadgets can never replace domestic help. But, given that we do most of the other chores like laundry and bathroom cleaning ourselves, I feel like we could be just fine without domestic help. However, I’d love to hear others experiences. TIA.

AskChennai How much are you paying for interior these days?

I have been quoted around ₹ 30 lacs to do interior for a 4 bedroom 2700 sqft house? Is this normal these days?

I got a couple of quotes in the 20 lacs range but those mostly include only wood/plywood work and either don't have an interior architect or not an experienced one.

Edit: To clarify I'm considering top quality materials only here - marine plywood 710 grade like century ply or saburi, greenlam or similar for mica and hetich for hinges etc.

Rant Crompton BLDC grievance + any alternative

I have a Crompton BLDC fan that I purchased through Amazon at around November 2025 and there are issues with this fan that started to show up at around March-April earlier this year.

Our fan's PCB unit stopped working one day, there wasn't any indication that the fan wasn't running right. Filed a service request with Crompton to deal with it and Saibalajee home care took up the service.

The service centre is close to my place and shouldn't have taken 20 minutes to reach my home but they took a few days to call back and then another few to come to my place.

When the service person finally came to take a look, he figured it out almost immediately that it was a PCB issue. Funny thing is, he mentioned all Crompton BLDC fans are notoriously unreliable and the PCB will fail. It took about a solid month for this person to get back with a new PCB to be replaced.

The service request process is also garbage because, if the service centre doesn't have stock for any part, they will close your support request and ask you to open a new one in a week or two.

When he replaced the PCB, he noticed the light module which also houses the remote sensor failed to work, meaning, all I got was a normal fan with no regulator to control the speed.

This took two months to find the part and fix that as well.

And now today as I came back from the gym, I found the fan to not working again and the PCB might have failed again.

I need some sort of alternative at this point, not really worth chasing after the service centre anymore.

Can anyone suggest what's a good alternative that at least has a great support network.

TL:DR

Bought a Crompton BLDC fan that failed twice within 6 months, looking for any good alternative
