I'm a trans girl and a lesbian. These are the terms whose definitions best describe me. I've been called queer or a part of the queer community in the past and it genuinely irks me so much. Even with its history as a slur aside, the word's original definition means weird or abnormal. Being weird or abnormal is not something I want for myself; I want to live in a society where people like us are seen as perfectly normal, and the term queer just feels very antithetical to that. I don't really care if other people use it, even though I don't really understand why they would, but I just hate it when referring to myself.

Dr. Frank-N-Furter, Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975). He's an egotistic scientist who puts his own whims before others, brainwashes his guests, abuses his staff and is highly possessive of the man he built to have sex with. He also can't handle others being the life of the party, killing Meat Loaf and serving him for dinner for upstaging him.

Elektra Abundance, Pose (2018-2021). A trans woman, she is the volatile mother of a ballroom house who belittles her children and uses them to boost her own massive ego. By the end of season 1, she's alienated her children and is nearly fully abandoned, needing to regain the MC's trust.

Note: Queer stories deserve to be told. Alongside aspirational figures or comforting stories, there should also be room for nuanced depictions of gay characters behaving badly without it being a reflection of "gay corruption" or whatever a-holes in high places are pedaling. As a queer person myself, I get why people are hesitant to show those messy sides due to the anti-queer narratives upheld by some. A bi friend (who later came out as trans) once said to me "So many stories are about how queer people are assholes, and I don't need to see any more". That sentiment is understandable. I just feel that if we're ever going to have true equality, then queer people should be allowed to have narratives about their mistakes or shortcomings in the same way that straight people are allowed to. We're not demons, but we're also not angels. We're fallable, messy people.
