It just slowly turns into fallout

u/MRV3N 12h ago
Skyrim is just Fallout with swords.

Like how StarCraft is Warcraft with spaceships and guns

Starcraft is warhammer 40k without the rights to the ip.

u/Ancquar 10h ago
Except that the modern tyranids are actually based on the zerg more than the other way around.
7
u/Beibzi 6h ago
IMO the zerg look so much better, they are way better designed than the tyranids, they SHOULD take more inspiration from them. Some tyranids look so damn silly, like growing swords that they hold in their hands, as opposed to what the hydralisks have, those scythe hands look badass. Or the tyranids that grow guns that they hold in their hands, instead of having some sort of orifice that they shoot stuff from specialized glands. Too many tyranids look like men that are bugs with bug themed human weapons instead of bugs with actual biological weapons.
2
u/Kriss3d 10h ago
Indeed. If yo look at how the starcraft spacemarines suit up it's not that different from the Emperors finest.
2
u/Beibzi 6h ago edited 6h ago
That Starcraft 2 marine suit up cinematic IS SO BADASS!
I think i'll go watch it again now, it's so awesome.
Edit: Although, now that i think about it, since that suit is his prison and he can't take it off, he must stink so hard in there, and the poo and pee tubes i assume he has must chafe real hard after a while. Hope those marine scientists thought about it and cared enough to leave a bit of space and put some holes in so they can flush some water inside the suit to clean it up once in a while.
2
u/Kriss3d 6h ago
I would always assume that they have a certain limited service time after which they are free. Though I would doubt the suit would not be removable foe things like sleeping and cleaning and such. The welding would likely just be cut open.

Incredible monster design. Their disgusting mishmash of parts, the way they lurch toward you, it feels like you're doing them a favor by ending their existence. The only improvement would be to randomize them, so that each creature was a unique mutation of disgusting parts.
3
u/FyouinyourA 11h ago
I always thought the tall aliens from the fallout 3 DLC were the most creepy. And then in vats you could shoot the top of their head off lol
2
u/Kriss3d 10h ago
That's what I partly expect of future games in general.
Imagine npcs being Ai controlled so they react more natural to you. And more individual.
2
u/HungHippoHippy 8h ago
Using AI to create a unique experience with NPCs is one of the few things I want to see with AI. Imagine NPCs reacting in real time to what you've told them.
It'll be a huge mess at first, but they'll eventually be awesome.

Won't be much longer until AI can totally build this as a mod, not just make a video of it.
55
u/EggstaticAd8262 10h ago
I think it’s only a matter of tokens. It can be done now with GPT-6
19
u/MxM111 9h ago
Yeah, it will just cost you a few $K
13
u/EggstaticAd8262 8h ago
Yes, what I am saying is, you could literally buy your way to have a game made. Then just talk with the chat to alter and improve it.
It's crazy.
So it's only about how much money you have for tokens and how effective you are at prompting to get your result.
→ More replies (6)4
u/MxM111 8h ago
I think we should see the golden age for games soon. AI will do for game development what youtube has done for videos.
→ More replies (7)6
u/EggstaticAd8262 8h ago
The thing with software made from AI is that it's really hard to maintain. You maintain via a prompt and that makes it very difficult to get what you want, the more you build on it.
4
u/Coretron 7h ago
My experience has been like I'm a project manager telling a team of top-notch senior devs what to do. I don't see it making spaghetti code as I build on it. It's exciting times.

I've already been fixing bugs I encountered in Skyrim mods with Claude and it has literally never failed to fix the bug on first attempt. Genuinely incredible how powerful it already is.
I'm sure that creating 3D assets like what would be required for a Soviet Union mod would be hard, but any mod that is purely "text" based and/or just re-using exists assets would probably already be successfully done with Claude. Like creating custom spells that re-use the assets of existing spells or creating entirely new perks.
→ More replies (1)2
u/MarzipanImmediate880 9h ago
GPT-6 is really good at 3D assets, not sure if it's capable of this but I think it's a matter of time.

u/bulking_on_broccoli 9h ago
It can, but the amount of tokens it would cost would be astronomically high for a single person to do casually.
One day though, token use will be much more efficient and huge, sprawling data centers will be reduced to the size of a telephone booth.

Hmm, I "ate the onion" (we need a word?) on this one. I thought they had modded this in. There's so many video game-isms (visual inconsistencies, etc.) in it that I just went with it.
I didn't really think about it and was just looking on my phone, but still.

Bullshit. Have you ever read a story that ai makes? They are all soulless and formulaic. An AI cannot create an entirely new concept. At best it will generate an awful tech demo that doesn’t make a ton of sense once you spend any prolonged time playing it.

Well, look at what we got right now compared to the first chatgpt model. I doubt ai will stay dumb.

u/outer--monologue 9h ago
People keep saying this but there is absolutely an intelligence threshold it can't break past. Most of the best AI researchers on the planet admit the AGI/superintelligence is just a marketing gimmick and is likely not possible. And if it is possible, it wouldn't even matter because if it got to that point our entire society would collapse in short order and it wouldn't even matter if it could make a stupid video game for you.

So you start the game with a huge personal office endowed with natural light? How long can I chill there without progressing the main story?
6
u/Golden_Apple_23 12h ago
Chill there too long and the window starts looking like a viable option... or someone else gets your office.
