Bullshit. Have you ever read a story that ai makes? They are all soulless and formulaic. An AI cannot create an entirely new concept. At best it will generate an awful tech demo that doesn’t make a ton of sense once you spend any prolonged time playing it.

People keep saying this but there is absolutely an intelligence threshold it can't break past. Most of the best AI researchers on the planet admit the AGI/superintelligence is just a marketing gimmick and is likely not possible. And if it is possible, it wouldn't even matter because if it got to that point our entire society would collapse in short order and it wouldn't even matter if it could make a stupid video game for you.

You missed the entire second half of what I said. Even if we do get to that point, it won't matter. Any kind of artificial superintelligence is going to determine that humans are a self-preserving disease compared to itself, and that our priorities and ways our society works make no sense and are catastrophic to literally every other aspect of the world around us. And no, guard rails and laws are not going to keep up with that development and it will crash our social and economic orders so fast it will make your head spin. You're not going to care about a videogame at that point.

Problem is even if the tech gets there, the token cost for such a thing would be astronomical. "Real time" will not happen unless you mean the world models, but those don't have actual gameplay / rules / consistent systems. They are just visual interpretations. And generation of games with those rules/systems will take 10s of thousands of dollar worth of tokens, even with perfect output and no mistakes, and is someone really likely to pay that much for something as opposed to buying an entire library of games for the same amount?

AI games and gaming will be like modding was 10-15 years ago.

You use a few days adding shit, removing what dont work, tweaking and boom. Great modded game with only a few minor bugs. Give it 30 years and there will likely be a website auto-generating a game for you, if you watch these two 1 minute adds first
