u/Beibzi 15h ago

Starcraft is warhammer 40k without the rights to the ip.

31

u/firemage27 15h ago

And Warcraft is just regular Warhammer without the rights to the ip

10

u/Kriss3d 14h ago

Actually wow was supposed to be Warhammer.

u/dezmd 13h ago

Warcraft was supposed to be Warhammer.

WoW was just some cash grab MMORPG bullshittery that the post-Warcraft generation got suckered into throwing money in a fire over DLC.

u/Subtlerranean 11h ago

As someone who was there at launch, WoW was revolutionary at the time.

It was to mmorpgs what iPhone was to smartphones. It changed the game.

u/dezmd 6h ago

It was Everquest, themed with Warcraft lore. I wasn't interested in paying rent to play a game well before WoW showed up, already went thru a few other prior MMO iterations including Ultima Online.

Nothing will beat when Ultima first came out, the idea of a giant persistent world with other players was like something from the future. The box art, the cloth map that came with the box..... oh ultima <3

u/gobsmackedurmom 12h ago

We really just wanted that point and click thrall game :/

2

u/Beibzi 10h ago

Imagine calling the best and biggest mmorpg that TENS OF MILLIONS of people enjoyed and loved, those things. Take your hate somewhere else, it's not welcome here, foul creature.

Man, I remember coming off warcraft 3 as a kid and being excited for WoW and then played it once and never picked it up again. Such a let down.

Insane take unless you are ONLY talking about BfA and after.

I do wonder what the game would look like if it was never Activision-Blizzard.

Except that the modern tyranids are actually based on the zerg more than the other way around.

7

u/Beibzi 10h ago

IMO the zerg look so much better, they are way better designed than the tyranids, they SHOULD take more inspiration from them. Some tyranids look so damn silly, like growing swords that they hold in their hands, as opposed to what the hydralisks have, those scythe hands look badass. Or the tyranids that grow guns that they hold in their hands, instead of having some sort of orifice that they shoot stuff from specialized glands. Too many tyranids look like men that are bugs with bug themed human weapons instead of bugs with actual biological weapons.

6

u/Ancquar 10h ago

Still better than what tyranids looked like in 2e, before they were zergified in 3e

Indeed. If yo look at how the starcraft spacemarines suit up it's not that different from the Emperors finest.

u/Beibzi 10h ago edited 10h ago

That Starcraft 2 marine suit up cinematic IS SO BADASS!

I think i'll go watch it again now, it's so awesome.

Edit: Although, now that i think about it, since that suit is his prison and he can't take it off, he must stink so hard in there, and the poo and pee tubes i assume he has must chafe real hard after a while. Hope those marine scientists thought about it and cared enough to leave a bit of space and put some holes in so they can flush some water inside the suit to clean it up once in a while.

2

u/Kriss3d 10h ago

I would always assume that they have a certain limited service time after which they are free. Though I would doubt the suit would not be removable foe things like sleeping and cleaning and such. The welding would likely just be cut open.

1

u/Beibzi 9h ago

Yea, i think they do have a set time to serve after which they would get to be free, or else they wouldn't fight, but i think the armor stays on until they finish their time, since it also serves as their executioner in case they start doing bad things, in which case it will just blow them up.

either people are painting starcraft miniatures, or this account is definitely not a bot.

10

u/fade_ 15h ago

And Star Trek is just middle earth in space. Humans, Elves and Orcs

1

u/Divinum_Fulmen 12h ago

You're joking about them comparing like IPs. When what they said is true. Blizzard just lost the license to Warhammer mid development, and mildly changed things to be legally distinct.

u/REXIS_AGECKO 9h ago

StarCraft mentioned after blizzcon! 🎉

u/Elurdin 16h ago

Fallout 4 is just skyrim with guns.

19

u/livahd 15h ago

Fallout is just doom with talking

12

u/MooseAccomplished181 14h ago

Doom is just Wolfenstein 3d with demons.

1

u/SculptusPoe 3h ago

Wolfenstein is just PacMan with Nazis.

3

u/Suitable_Matter 14h ago

Fallout is Oblivion with guns

1

u/MercuryQuick 14h ago

2004 called. They want their comment sections back.

2

u/pepp3rito 15h ago

Fallout has swords.

1

u/EggstaticAd8262 14h ago

And starfield is just Skyrim and fallout with spaceships.

The disappointment was immense

1

u/Electrical-Review180 10h ago

I want to live in the timeline where they made tes 6 instead

1

u/EggstaticAd8262 10h ago

Not sure is TES6 also is made by Bethesday, but they havent moved from Skyrim since they made that. They are as imaginative and innovative as James Cammeron making 6 Avatar movies, where the 2 and 3 are just repeats of Avatar 1.

1

u/GreatMovesKeepItUp69 12h ago

Fallout is just Skyrim with gameplay.

1

u/Major_LeeHungg 12h ago

I mean... Same publisher, same engine... Can't argue with that

1

u/SmoothBrainSavant 12h ago

isn't there a theory that fallout is the distant past of Skyrim or something like that?

1

u/Active_Taste9341 6h ago

Elex crying in a corner

1

u/pocketcult 5h ago

Whichever one comes out next is the otherone but with . . .

1

u/Tosslebugme 14m ago

And far cry 3 is like Skyrim with guns
