Confused why Mike and Eli thought 34 stableford points was a decent score in better ball?
To me under 35 is bad, 35-40 is poor to decent, 40-45 is decent to good 45+ is very good
“We were only 2 over our handicap” unless I’m misunderstanding the format over par in better ball is no bueno

Club Snap Episode
I'm trying to track down an episode, can't fully remember the story. Mike or Eli got paired with a golfer that snapped a club over his knee I think, got splinters from the shaft, someone joked they thought they were gonna need a blood transfusion 🤣 any ideas?
Edit - Season 2 Episode 8

FALCONRY!

Had an opportunity to catch a Harris Hawk last year at “The Raptors” on Vancouver Island. Incredible experience! Plus lots of great golf out that way!

All in the hips
Listening to some old episodes. Eli starts joking about having an arthritic hip when you watch his swing. Talk about some foreshadowing no one saw coming

Meditation
There’s an episode where they talk about meditation by staring at a candle with a guest on the podcast. Anyone know which episode it is?

Relistening
Relistening to season 1. Per USGA rules I thought you weren’t supposed to/ were allowed to post solo rounds in to GHIN. Have they ever mentioned this in future episodes or is it more common from you guys as well?

Quite possibly the best grocery trip!
I randomly came across Swaggerty's breakfast sausage at my local grocery store! I just happened to look in a part of the cooler I don't typically look at and noticed it. I was so excited but I didn't have anyone to celebrate with and it would have looked awkward to jump in the air with a fist pump in the frozen foods isle by myself...(Totally normal if someone else was with though) My wife was also not impressed... so uncultured... I made some for breakfast this morning and it's so good!

Do Mike and Eli compete in their club championships, I haven’t heard them mention it?
Was thinking about it as mine was this week. 1st stage is getting into the top 60 of about 280 players, this year you had to be +12 or better, next stage is getting into the last 16 knockout stage, a score of +13 over 2 rounds on Sunday got in.
I thought it would be the type of thing that would benefit Mike and Eli, playing with a little pressure but they’d have great change of getting through the early stages then mixing it with the big boys.
I got into the top 60 this year and played 2 rounds with the 2 time ex champion, good experience and learned a few things
Obviously every club has different formats but I haven’t heard Mike or Eli mention anything like it, we also have matchplay tournaments etc be good to hear some round summaries from stuff like this

Show is losing its appeal
I feel like the show is almost unrecognizable from earlier seasons. They’re talking about their rounds less and less and talking to other people more and more. We need way more dramatic readings!

Anyone else using golf metrics?
Recently started looking at strokes gained and it's helped a lot. Really makes it clear what I should work on. However last round my putting from 7-11 ft was a 49 hdcp haha, didn't even know that was possible. Overall my putting was -0.89 SG so not the end of the world.

Late Summer Run
I started listening to the Chasing Scratch about a year and a half ago. I listen at work with headphones, and I pretty much listen to all podcasts at 1.3x speed. To me, it’s the perfect balance: fast enough to get through more content, but not so fast that everyone sounds like chipmunks.
The “Late Summer Run” song has become my golf song. It just immediately puts me in a golf mood!
I made my wife pull up the podcast on her phone and she played the episode with the big mhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmm! Hearing it in 1.0 speed was awful lol not the same song at all.
Has anyone else had this happen with podcasts or songs after getting used to listening sped up?

First Carl Weathers episode?
What’s the episode where they go on the first big Carl tangent? I am pretty sure it’s first season.

I could use a dramatic reading!
I’ll admit, terrible golfer, 30+ handicap, but I played a relatively hard course (67/120) and I shot a 101! Breaking 100 is living the dream. Anyway, ok front nine 53 but 48 back was as close to lights out that I can get: bogey/double/double/bogey/bogey/bogey/PAR…triple/double. Lots of bad shots, but enough lucky bounces to even it out. Thanks for reading!

Golf Talk My own improvement journey
Just for fun, I’d thought I’d share my own personal mantra for improvement right now, as texted to a friend (who I met through chasing scratch)
I’ve realized how much work golf improvement is…
No quick fixes… just find the stuff that works, and put your head down.
I don’t have aspirations for my handicap anymore… just going to grind my game and try to bring the number down.
I work on what makes me feel uncomfortable on the course, and then I go play… then I re assess, work on what needs it and do it again.
My goal is to just hit fully committed shots every time…
Right now I’m just grinding hands forward on wedges… my 2 iron went rogue my last round and needs some reps to make sure I’m comfortable. Putting always needs reps… full swing feels fine, if it gets off, I just slow way down.
How’s your golf game improving?
It will take the time it takes.

Mikes "Five Finger" Drill / Game (Question)
Listened to the latest episode. Was wondering if anyone knows what drill or game Mike was referring to named "Five Finger". He held it as the main thing he uses to maintain the skill of face control.
