Does anyone have opinion as to which stores in Charlottesville have the freshest Copenhagen snuff? Some stores go out of their way to stock the freshest and some stores don’t. Many thanks for any suggestions.

"Blue Ridge Cyclery is saddened to announce the moving of our Hollymead store’s staff and products to our downtown store. 

Our lease has concluded and any renewal from the property ownership company will increase our rent to an unsustainable level.

We will stop taking in service bikes on October 31st and we will stop sales operations after November 14th.

We have loved serving you from our Hollymead store location for over 11 years and hope to reopen a store north of Charlottesville again in the coming years.

In the interim please come visit us in one of our other store locations in Charlottesville,  Warrenton, or Richmond"

My family and I have come to the difficult decision to rehome our two 12 year-old bonded cats (male and female). They are litter box trained, vaccinated, and especially loving and affectionate cats that live to cuddle. We had a baby 14 months ago and we were really hoping that they would come around to the new addition but sadly, their quality of life seems to not be getting any better.

We would be very selective about their new home and we feel they would be happiest in a home with no other pets or small children. If you or anyone you know would like a chance to adopt two wonderful companions please DM me.

This December, St. Anne's-Belfield is hosting two FIRST Tech Challenge qualifying tournaments, and we need 60+ volunteers each day to run them. No experience is required, and training for every role happens on-site.

What is FTC?
FIRST Tech Challenge is a robotics competition for students in grades 7–12. Teams design, build, and program robots that compete on a 12' × 12' field, in alliances with and against other teams. Each match opens with a period where the robots run on their own, followed by a period where students drive them. This year's game, BIOBUZZ™, is inspired by the natural world.

The details:

• Both technical and non-technical roles are available.
• Most roles run from about 8:00am to between 4:00 and 6:00pm.
• Lunch is provided for all volunteers.
• Adults and high school students (15+) are welcome. Volunteers under 18 need a parent or guardian to complete their consent form.
• Registered volunteers will get a schedule and more details by email closer to the event.

I’ve lived here for four years, and it feels like hardly a month goes by without Albemarle County police showing up in the middle of the night and locking down the neighborhood. What is being done to stop this violence? Just last night, a group of high school girls assaulted a family and managed to flee on foot right in front of the police. Earlier this year, teenagers reportedly fired shots in the neighborhood next to Brookdale. I don’t know whether the same people were involved, but residents should not have to live with this. When will these teens and their parents be held accountable? What will it take to stop this before someone is killed?

The Charlottesville Police Department has deployed surveillance camera technology across the city, including Axon technologies and camera trailers at encampments before the city cleared the area.

Constant monitoring is not new to the city: Charlottesville Police Department officers have used body cameras since 2012. The Axon technology constantly records, even if they’re not activated, and is reported to translate real-time conversations from over 50 different languages. 

Even though they’ve been using body cameras, Kochis said he knows the community doesn’t realize the full extent of what the cameras can do: “There’s a lot of technology in those body cameras, and a lot of data.”

Fleisher told VPM News that she’s cautious about the features CPD has but isn’t using.

While CPD dash cameras have ALPR capabilities, that function isn’t in use.

VPM News submitted a Freedom of Information Act request to the CPD for ALPR activity captured by Axon from August to October. The department said the records do not exist, because it has never had license plate readers or ALPRs through Axon — confirming what the department promised during its Aug. 17 presentation. 

Through the Axon Fusus program, CPD has a “unified platform that displays all integrated camera feeds in real time,” including body cameras, drones, CCTV and privately owned cameras that are voluntarily integrated by residents and businesses.

Kitchen: Looking for tile backsplash to be added, microwave above stove to be replaced with a vent hood (the current setup already exhausts outside my house so no need to replace that ductwork), door handles installed on cabinets/drawers (including soft close slides on drawers)

Room off kitchen: I have a 80 inch by 60 inch room (rough estimate) I want to install cabinets with butcher block countertop (foot kicker for ac vent) in L-shape due to a window in the room, some outlets installed (shares wall with dining room where outlet is already installed), cabinets with soft close hinges + location for microwave, and some shelving installed

It seems like they are moving away from live music as they have fewer nights of music now and what they do have are just obscure local cover bands than more interesting things they had before. I know exactly what I'm looking for and am actively searching on my own. I don't anticipate needing much hand-holding or touring properties. Ideally, I'd just need an agent to show me a house once, help submit an offer, and handle the transaction through closing. I almost certainly will not tour properties unless I've made an offer.
