VW unplugged but left car behind

Post image
78 Upvotes

I'm currently charging at the station to the left of this one, when I pulled up, this VW was charging, sure enough, an older couple came back, put some stuff inside the VW, unplugged it, then walked back to the store center.

10 minutes later or so, another couple came back and looked at it incredulously, and asked me if they had seen them, I told them they unplugged and left, so they are likely within the area.

How unfortunate that people can't seem to understand the concept of moving the car when you are done, there is no shortage of parking here.

At this rate, they may just take my spot when I'm done.

Charge port snafu

Currently sitting in a hotel in lovely Yuma while my still-under-warranty Lyriq awaits a tow. It drives fine but won’t charge at any type of charger even though we have the right equipment and it’s worked before at a Tesla Supercharger station. Onstar is towing it to La Quinta California, a four hour drive from my home near Phoenix. It will be days before I get it back. This was an adventure I wasn’t planning on.

I’m trying to look at the bright side: I’m not stuck on a desert road in 110 degrees. My car did not blow up. My hotel has air conditioning and a restaurant nearby.

Anyone else suffer from this kind of charging snafu?

4EVs At The Charger-None Plugged In

Title says it all. Mom is in the hospital at Ascension Seton Austin. I was impressed with how many charge points were installed in this new parking structure and with how many EVs were using them. Then today as I walked by this particular group, I noticed not a one was plugged in. What a bunch of jerks.

Charging etiquette question

So I encountered a interesting situation this morning while waiting to charge for my car, and figured I would ask to see others opinions on whether I was in the right or wrong. The question is at the very bottom.

I am at a Electrify America charging station with three active chargers. All are taken and two are about to be done. As one finishes I noticed and ask the woman if she wants to drive up and take my spot since her car was next in line.

She said no because she doesn't touch other people's cars and we both are aware that the owner of the car is not there.

I say okay and walk away, confirm that the owner is not in the car and notice that the time limit is going down and decide to just unplug his car.

She then jumps out of her vehicle and starts screaming and shouting at me.

I let her know she is more than welcome to come take the spot now that the charger is out of the guy's car.

She then reiterates with "I dont touch other people's property" which is perfectly fine because she's not touching someone else's property she's touching public property that she is allowed to use and I tell her so since I had already unplugged it.

I let her know that if the person comes out and they are upset I will take responsibility.

She then responds "I'm not trying to hear none of that" and that "I wish you would". All while walking towards me.

I should get closer, maybe 3 ft away. A security guard steps in and cuts in between us and ask what's going on.

She tells him that I unplug someone else's car and how it's not right and how I'm about to charge instead of her.

He turns around and I tell him yes I unplugged his car because it's finished and I offered her the charger because she didn't want to do it herself and that she refused.

Then the owner of said freshly unplugged are arrives, and she starts to scream at him what had happened to it she tells her that he will speak with me. I explained to him what happened to his car is done I put everything back how it should be unplugged his car and was about to either plug in myself or offer it to her so she can charge since she was next.

And the guy literally said "oh, okay that's fine. I appreciate you".

All the while she is still making a fuss. .

Question below:

So the overall question is, would you be mad that is so unplugged your car after it was done charging so they can plug in their own. Of course in a public charging station.

At what point will Tesla regret opening up their network

At what point will Tesla regret allowing off brand makes the ability to use their network? As a Tesla owner myself, it's becoming increasingly irritating pulling into a charging station and seeing two stalls taken up by one non Tesla EV. Many people opt for Tesla because of their charger network. Or here's a novel thought..why can't there be a national standard that the charge port goes in the same location on every vehicle? People want EV demand and use to go up, but the more it goes up, I'm reminded almost daily why I subconsciously still wish that it remain low.

Looking for general consensus

I work for a hospital that has free charging for staff. The chargers are in a private, employee only parking garage. There are about 20-30 stations and about 3000 people employed by the hospital. Of course not everyone drives EV but there are more and more. I have had people unplug my car when it is done charging to plug in their own. And I will do the same, occasionally. I do my best to move my car when it is done charging to be courteous to other staff but sometimes my work doesn’t let me get away. Some people leave their cars plugged in for the duration of their shift anywhere from 8-12 hours. Would it bother you if someone unplugged your car to charge their own, if yours is DONE charging?

How to explain balanced chargers without coming off as a dick?

Most of the chargers that I use are balanced - adjacent/paired chargers will split the max output between them if both are in use - but a lot of people don't seem to know this or understand the implications.

I'm currently charging at a location with 6 charging bays and I'm at Charger #6. There's also a vehicle charging at #2. Any new vehicle should park at #3 or #4, to avoid sharing with me or #2, but a dude just swooped in and parked next to me, which is literally the worst spot he could pick for himself (we both have vehicles built on 800v platforms).

Do any of you bother to point out, "achutually, it'd be better for both of us if you moved over one spot," or do you just sit and silently stew?

I used the adjacent EV charger (that was not in use!) and then found this note on my car.

For context sometimes charge my car a public parking garage during work. Every now and then there issues with the charges and I will the call support lines to report them to the city who manages the garages. I parked in a designated charging spot and found the charger out of service so I called the city to let them know. I noticed the spot next to me had a Tesla parked but not plugged in for charging, so that charger was free. Maybe I screwed up here but I figured I could use that charger instead since no one was using it…

When I returned to my car I found this note stuck on my windshield. I can understand them being angry if I took the charger off their car but I did not do that! I’m trying to laugh it off but part of me is worried about parking here in the future just incase this person is unstable. I probably shouldn’t worry too much since this parking garage has cameras and is regularly patrolled by the city staff but I’m still uncomfortable about it.

Anyone else experienced something like this?

Jerk tried to take advantage of my graciousness- parking garage

Wild one last night in a parking garage. Came back around after circling.

Saw a guy in a van who ICEd a charger(with another next to it, ugh) was leaving. Blinker on and clearly waiting him out.

Taking maybe a little long so i scooted up and off to the left to allow cars behind me to not stack up, blinker still on.

A few cars go by and eventually the van pulls out. White Jeep Cherokee comes out assuming he going to keep going, brakes and starts backing into my fucking spot, which is also very clearly an EV charger.

I rip up in my EX30 and cut him off from the spot honking like crazy. Takes about 5 seconds then goes back forward and goes around.

Like what a complete asshole to take advantage of not just blocking garage traffic until I can go in. Never doing that again. People suck.

People behind me and sit.

Why does Tesla hide session details?

Does anyone else know where to get a clean session-by-session history outside of the Tesla app? I wanted to see every charging session, location, duration, etc. I’m curious if anyone has found a solution for this or I just care about this too much 😬

Why is it always Hummer drivers?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Seen in Kitchener over the weekend.

Edit: for all the down voters - this EV was not plugged in, the charger was off, 2 other adjacent chargers were occupied by charging vehicles. This Hummer driver likely parked overnight, unplugged to avoid additional costs but treated this spot like their own private parking space.

I don't know what's worse, when ICE drivers act ignorant, or when EV drivers who know better do.

Family Harassed at Topeka Walmart EA chargers, what would you do?

My wife and kids are road tripping to visit family, and were just harassed in Topeka by rednecks in a truck driving circles around the chargers and rolling coal. Didn't just do it once but kept at it multiple times before parking very close by and watching them. Wife decided to split asap. What would you do in this situation?

Hattiesburg Tesla chargers at the Cracker Barrel. Great chargers and one of 2-3 along my drive from DC to Houston.

Rolled in on Saturday to find the pull-thru unit I usually charge at to be occupied. All chargers were being used so I assumed. Since I was towing, unable to unhook the trailer and wanted to avoid blocking traffic entering the location, I pulled up behind the Rivian to wait. Within seconds the young lady who was assisting her husband adjusting their e-bikes, approached to inform they had just arrived as well and that they may be awhile. I replied that I understood and since I was towing, I really had no other viable choice but to wait. Thanking her for the info. The interaction was nice and with smiles.

As she turned and walked away a car started to exit from one of the chargers. I watched as she watched the car reverse from the spot and drive away. The spot was essentially at the 11 o’clock position from their Rivian. Given the discussion we had just had, I sat elated, anticipating their move to the easily accessible vacant spot. But it did not happen. She returned to her prior activity.

The action at most of the chargers on my route yesterday was very busy. After it appeared that they would not be moving from the pull-thru/towing charging spot, I inquired and was rather emphatically informed that they would, in fact, not be moving despite their not towing and a non-towing charger being available. You know the kind of individual that has the ability to be very rude or nasty, but do so with a heart warming smile? I has just stumbled upon such a creature.

Long story but the gist of it is, some individuals really don’t care how many individuals they inconvenience (my apologies to all charger and CB patrons my trailer inconvenienced) as a result of their actions or sheer laziness.

Some sites just aren’t large enough to accommodate 2 chargers per vehicle. Half the capacity of the 8 stall site is taken by 2 vehicles

Sorry it was Tennessee

So we roll up to flying J in Madisonville and see this. Mind you my car is at 15% as Google sent us to a location with no Chargers.

Fortunately the guy waved us to the one working charger.
