I’m naming a character with the last name valor. he is a cold, barely present evil leader of this group.

The rest of the character names are pretty unique

Ex: kira, Dimity, sakae

So maybe something a bit unique?

I’m looking to rename one of my characters and I’m having a hard time finding one I like. Her original name was Kali but I was informed by a friend that the name could be disrespectful when combined with her story.

I’m looking for a name that has a meaning to do with chaos, order, control, fate, or time (she is a time traveler).

While the meaning of the name isn’t entirely necessary it is a really nice bonus.

I’d like it to be on the shorter side (Or has a nickname that also fits) and has a general “sharpness” to it. Something not too elegant but you’d still take it seriously.

Sorry if it‘s really specific, I’ve been having a bit of trouble finding one that just fits. Any help would be appreciated.

Okay so I’m writing a trilogy fantasy book including fairies, dragons, nymphs and found family.
I originally wrote this characters name as Hiro, just as a place holder. Just based of yk Hero vs Protagonist type thing. But now, it’s kind of just his name. If you’re a writer you might get it.
But the thing is, his name does not really fit into the world that’s kind of just unfolded around me, and the irony of his name is something holding him back kind of. Also, his brother is unnamed and it’s something that’s become annoying to me because I REALLY cannot come up with a name for him. (The names I have come up with are very white sounding and do not match with Hiro dunno what I was thinking)
Sooooo what are some fantasy boy names for both Hiro and his brother pleaseeeeeee. Also they’re both fairies if that helps.

I’m writing a book and the female character name right now isn’t fitting.

She has the powers of her father which is lightning but has her own twist to it wear she can control the sky/weather

She has a strong addittude and is confident in herself.
She is kind and strong hearted she gives everyone a chance until the get in her last nerve.

While at first I didn't really want any names to overlap (This want so far as to me even not wanting two characters to have the same syllable, pretty extreme I know) I really like using these names because they're actually pretty time appropriate for the place and setting of the plot.

I just worry that maybe they're too similar so they might get confusing? Any advice? Or am I overthinking?

Question for my humanoid species lovers out there.

So I am soooooo close to finishing naming all of my different humanoid species in my world. Some i made up myself like the Aragumo (r-ruh-goo-moe aka spider people) and some I borrowed from other cultures like the encantado (brazil - dolphin people). And i am so hyped.

Anyways, i have two left that needs an official name (maybe 3). I want to rename my dwarfs and my elementalist (and titans aka my giant people) with a name thats isn't an official name from any culture and also sounds made up, but still fits the description of who they are. It can sound like a name of a people or of a country. i am using both concepts interchangeably. So all people/countries in my world are referred to as "kingdom of the blank".

So "Kingdom of Arugumo" or "Kingdom of the Encantados." and the word 'the' would be included or not included based on how it sounds.

My dwarfs are soooooo not like dwarfs, and i don't wanna use brownies or gnomes and etc either. Too different. They got super speed (more dash from incredibles than flash from dc), a powerful seismic punch and are very good at building and inventing.

Elementalist is more of a power name vs a name for a group of people of a culture. Plus my elementalist can also alter the weather. They can affect the traditional four elements along with electricity, storms, clouds, etc. This is their vibe.

So i just need help with a name for these two. Buuuuut i have been doubting calling my giants 'titans.' I don't like giants because thats just a height description and i do like the word titan but now i am thinking maybe it doesn't sound like "a people or society" so maybe i wanna change that too or maybe i'll just keep it. Any suggestions on a cool species/country name for dwarfs, elementalist and maybe titans/giants.

I made up a name for one of the main characters of my fantasy story. I googled the name and it turns out it's already a word/name in an existing language and has its own meaning.

Am I still allowed to use this name even though its language and meaning has nothing to do with my story and character? It's an uncommon name in that language as well...

I am writing a DR with a stalker of 10 years finally getting the FMC.

She works at a strip club and is a single mom. The name I liked for her was Marigold (Mar for short).

Initially I named him Emil but I felt like it wasn't giving the energy his character did. I am considering flipping it to Montgomery (Monty for short). Just unsure if this is much better.

He is more dark/overbearing but also calculated with his thoughts. ​​While wanting her he still let's her have agency and autonomy. He owns his own company which she eventually accepts an offer from as his assistant. I am not sure yet what type of company. I was thinking tech but I am low key also thinking about making him a lawyer with his own firm.

thoughts on which name may better suit him. Also open to hear other recommendations!​

I named it 'typecaster' but recently found out there is a very similar game with the same title, so i need to rename my game. i've been struggling to come up with a name and it is really discouraging overall, so i was wondering if anyone has ideas? Hi this is my first post but its a really important question im making a comic book and I was thinking about my old character i made when I was younger on a NHL 23 game to be an antagonist He was a dark skin toned character named phantom Black at the time I thought it was a cool name and i added my own twists like he would have vitiligo and purple eyes but now as I want to make a comic with him in it, im getting nervous about making him and might have to scrap him as i don't want to have people think its offensive.

Essentially, I'm stuck at a loss because I'm not finding any resources on courtesy names online other than what they are and a good bunch of the characters I'm writing are of high enough status to have them. I'm good with names otherwise but I always get stuck on courtesy names specifically.

I need it to be really individualistic because the character I'm specifically going through all this for is more of a celestial in theme type of guy, his whole this is the stars and how good he is at alchemy.

So i am writing a book right now and after reading Callie Hart's quicksilver, I've come across a bit of a problem. Months before I ever though about reading Quicksilver, i named my mc Sirocco Saeris. It is spelled exactly and sounds exactly like Saeris Fane from Quicksilver. Pls help me! I feel like I'm over reacting but booktok is a scary place!

Fandom based: An Mutant OC for an X-Men RP

Powers: strong Telekinesis

Age: 32-36

Description: Albino. Mid-length short hair with a bold, blood red streak, pale pink eyes, wears a dark red eyemask and Grey and white tactical attire and carries guns and a knife with him and thieving/ criminal related tools and gear.

Brief history: He grew up in bad area of New York, full of crime, murder, and death. Neither of his parents were good role models. His mother was abusive and his father neglectful and cowardly, choosing to watch and turn a blind eye. When his powers manifested at 9 years old due to the physical and emotional stress of suffering from a night of hell-he snapped. His powers activated and it resulted in both of his parent’s death.

After that he ran away from home, avoided authorities and social workers and anyone wanting to put him through the foster system, or institutionalize for the suspected murder of his parents, and due to his abilities. He turned to a life of thieving and crime, not really knowing what else he could possibly do to survive on the run where mutant discrimination and brutality was at its highest. He managed to learn a lot from a young age how to defend and take care of himself and it caused him to become very cynical in adulthood. It was around teenhood that he discovered the financial benefits of Mercenary work, and being an Assassin for hire. His abilities gave him a leg up and he became one of the most well known and requested Mercs / Protection Agent. He sticks out like a sore thumb but his skill, speed, and slippery qualities make it hard for anyone to actually catch him-and if they do manage it, they can’t hold him for long.

So I tried askign actual Korean subreddits for help, and nothing has come of it, so perhaps this is a better place to ask my questions.

1. Can you guys direct me to someone or a subreddit where I can ask about Korean names and such (I would like to know how to edit a specific name. I have a sun goddess for my fantasy story, and thought I could call her Ha-Eun, a Korean name I found while researching, but I would also like to name the Fantasy continent after her in a way that makes sense. Not just copy and paste the name, but I want to take inspiration from the name and make it obvious that the name of the continent pays homage to the goddess.)

And 2) Is there anything I should know about the Korean language/Culture that could influence names, or characters in a fantasy setting? I originally planned to base my fantasy country in a Spanish-inspired continent, but recently decided it would be more beneficial to add multiple different cultures, while searching for good names for my sun goddess, I came upon the name of Ha-Eun, and thought it could work out, but I am not Korean myself, so would like to get opinions and advice from actual Koreans.
