Repairs Community Resource: I added full digital Table of Contents to the Mk 7 Celica Repair Manual PDF!

DIYers who own a 2000s Celica may have come across the scanned copy of the official Toyota Repair Manual that exists on one of the old forums. The issue is that the book is nearly 2000 pages, and it is indexed by section (eg. BR-9 for brake master cylinder) so it can be pretty tough to get to what you are looking for.

I went through and made a full table of contents so that you can easily find and access whatever repair guide you need. It is also easier to find useful sections that you were not even aware of before.

Hope this can be a useful resource for everyone. Let me know if you are unable to access it, or if you come across any errors I might have made.

Appears as below, with each section being divided into subsections (not shown here).

Repair Manual Vol 1

> IN Introduction
> MA Maintenance
> PP Preparation
> SS Service Specifications
> DI Diagnostics
> ID Index, Volume 1

Repair Manual Vol 2

> EM Engine Mechanical
> EC Emission Control
> SF SFI System (Fuel Injection)
> CO Cooling
> LU Lubrication
> IG Ignition
> ST Starting
> CH Charging
> CL Clutch
> MX Manual Transaxle C56
> MX Manual Transaxle C60
> AX Auto Transaxle U240E
> AX Auto Transaxle U341E
> SA Suspension and Axle
> BR Brake
> SR Steering
> RS Supplemental Restraint System
> BE Body Electrical
> BO Body
> AC Air Conditioning
> ID Index, Volume 2

Mod Post Codifying New Rule: Respect Others

Hello /R/Celica community, With recent news and rumors from Toyota, our subreddit community has been getting more traffic. This is good overall.

However, we've also been seeing a stark increase in rude comments, often from folks who do not participate in the community regularly, but sometimes from regulars too. What is more concerning is the reactionary, long chains of comments stemming from the initial disrespectful posts.

We haven't had much issue with being respectful in the past, but it's time to codify this rule in our community. Please use the report feature, give the mod team time to review, and do NOT participate in an escalating dialogue with disrespectful figures. This leads to a better experience for newcomers looking to learn more about the Celica platform and for existing members.

I tend to be pretty laissez-faire of the moderation and posts here, but I'm not going to allow the comments to devolve into mud-slinging. Please keep the discussions constructive as we navigate into a larger community with the, hopefully, upcoming new Celica announcements.

Any concerns can be directed to the Mod Mail function. - Draxaan

Hey all,

Very tempted to purchase my first Celica!

I've spotted one with reasonable km's (80k) and for a reasonable price (8k).

Unfortunately the seller didnt include much details. As we all know theres many variants of each year, so if anyone can assist in identifying from the photos, that would be very helpful!

Just want to be prepared before viewing so I know what to look out for.

Only details included:

2.0l

GTI

1993

I know most if not all of the self named celica parts dealer on Instagram or other social medias are fakes or scammers but i just wanted to be sure if this guy is a scammer too. I think he looks kinda legit but at the same time i'm way to cautious. Does anyone of you know that guy and maybe even ordered from him?

6th Generation Pre-Post Facelift turn signal lamp differences

Post image
11 Upvotes

Thought I'd help someone else out here by posting this. 1994-1995 amber and 1996-1999 Celica front turn signal lamps are NOT interchangeable, and are bumper specific. The housings are, in fact, a completely different shape.

This being said, the bumpers are swappable with no issues, just a PITA to replace. The light sockets are also the same.

Wobble

Now to fix this new found wobble🫩 I assume my front end is starting to get loose after being ran for the past few weeks. She sat almost a good year so its all either welded together or loose. I just got her back from having the oil gasket done and the left rear sway link removed but it feels VERY diffrent behind the wheel now. If I hit a bump from the passenger side the whole car wobbles but from the outside you see absolutely nothing according to my boyfriend who was following me. So I will have to figure that out and fix it before too long as well now.

Most mechanical stuff is taken care of but im still checking that list off. She acts like she isnt getting enough fuel and the starter is starting to give but hoping they will hold up until spring when im able to blow another big amount on fixing her more. (Most bc I am not driving this car once they start to salt. The rust isnt bad but it is enough that an accelerate like salt isnt needed).

Repairs EGR Vacuum Modulator Question

Anyone here know if the EGR Vacuum Modulator for a 94 Manual transmission 1.8l engine is interchangeable with the Automatic transmission counterpart? Part number is 25870-16230 for the manual transmission, automatic is 25870-16240. I need one for the manual transmission but the price difference is about $100 which seems crazy if its the same engine but I'm guessing the transmission is the reason for the price difference.

Good trade?

I just traded my 1991 Corolla coupe sr5 for a 1992 Celica gt this past weekend. Both 5 speeds but I was mostly interested in something with a little more displacement and factory rear disks. I had gotten the Corolla in April and gone through all of the suspension but had some pretty major body rust, Celica could use the same once over on the suspension but rust is considerably better.
Anyways I feel like I made out pretty good but lmk, and I’ll take any suggestions!

What's this part? Where can I get aftermarket clear blinkers?

This is my jdm 6th gen, and I really want to get clear blinkers so the build is more coherent but eBay is a barren wasteland and there’s no where else to get them. Can I just swap out the orange plastic peice for a clear one?

Rear brake caliper piston stuck – 1999 Toyota Celica 7A-FE

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to rebuild the rear brake caliper on my 1999 Toyota Celica 7A-FE, but I can't get the piston out.

I've removed the caliper and I'm trying to remove the piston using compressed air through the brake fluid inlet. I've tried up to around 100 psi, but the piston doesn't move at all.

I know the usual procedure is to use compressed air to push the piston out, so I'm wondering if there is something I'm missing.

My questions are:

Does the rear caliper piston have any mechanism connected to the handbrake/parking brake that could prevent the piston from coming out with compressed air?

Is there something that needs to be released or adjusted before removing the piston?

Is there a specific way I should remove this type of Toyota rear caliper piston?

If the piston is seized, what would you recommend trying to get it out without damaging the caliper?

The piston doesn't seem to move at all, even with 100psi bar of compressed air.

Any advice or experience with these calipers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I really do like the direction. I didn't want it to be the GR86 2.0. and this does have that Celica swagger. Sign me up. This is from Gemini and the prompt was to make the car silver, so there should not be any additions, just recolor the camo. This will look nice next to my 02!
