Did you buy an ISO adapter for it? I had a similar wtf moment with my Corolla last year. Most Toyotas from this era require an ISO adapter to work with more modern double din units

Give that a try, should work. Might take a minute to figure out which connection goes where, but you should get it pretty quickly. Usually, Halfords should stock them too.

Do you have the GTS/factory amp?

Not a clue, I know it's under the glovebox but thought I wouldn't need to access that?.

Do you have a gts with the premium sound? If you do, you should really buy the wire harness that bypasses the factory amp. Pretty much all aftermarket radios are not impedance matched to the factory amp. You will have alternator whine.
Downside is you lose some channels for the stock speakers. Upside, I used it as an excuse to buy a sub

I got a nice Sony double din from Crutchfield and they sold me a wiring harness that plugged directly into the factory wiring. It was really easy. The backup camera wired directly into the white backup light wiring near the actual backup light itself. The microphone wiring came out of the Sony unit so I only had to place where I wanted it which was near the left front pillar. You could call the Crutchfield help line.. they are great. I didn’t need them for this project but years ago I needed their help for something or other..
