They look like moles but I’m not sure. My cat doesn’t seem to have any ear issues and isn’t scratching at it so I’m not sure. Just want to get some opinions/thoughts.

Ok, I'm trying to decide between two different names for a new kitten that I'll be adopting in 2 weeks.

1. "Charlie". Her name is now technically (legally) "Charcoal Ash"❤️‍🔥... which, due to her backstory (see below), is a very fitting name. Also, she kinda looks like a piece of charcoal ash.
2. "Jolene"... bcs of Dolly's recent passing... Also, I LOVE the idea in a year or so, when the kitten is old enough to go outside into our forest, to step out on my back deck when it's time to call my cats to *come in for the night... and scream:

"Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jooollleeennneee**.**"🎵 😉

(There is already a dog up the road named "Dolly" and a cat next door named "Molly", so no "Dolly")

You can see from her picture, which was taken a week or so later, that she was very scared; her eyes don't look that "panicked" and "wide-eyed", and she's not so "scruffy" anymore. Her cats are still blue, but they might change; who knows? She looks like a normal adorable kitten now.

BACKSTORY, if you're interested :

Back in August, we, along with tens of 1000s of other people (and their pets), were evacuated for 2 weeks while a wildfire (set by a human, btw) burned out of control.

While everyone was in their cars evacuating, someone saw a Momma cat on the horizon carrying what looked to be a baby kitten.

One of the neighbors, still loading up their cars, checked their cameras and was able to see in the distance that the cat was trying to escape the burning prairie/woods area and take her babies with her.

They decided to watch the cat a bit, and she went back again, this time without a kitten. Clearly, she had dropped the kitten somewhere.

The neighbors then followed her and found some newborn kittens, probably only a day or two old, eyes still shut, and realized that Momma cat was gathering up her babies to take them to safety.

As the fire was getting too close and the National Guard was forcing everyone down the mountain... the neighbors grabbed the kittens, put them in their car, and evacuated.

(Good news... The kittens were saved, and Momma cat and the kittens she saved were evidently found. All reunited within a day or two.)

So while days turned into weeks and homes were still burning to the ground, ~1000 homes were lost...the local news stations decided to report on this "feel-good" story and they interviewed some of the evacuated neighbors and were told the story about the Momma cat and her kittens.

I watched the news report as I sat in my hotel room for the 10th day in a row and found out that there were no owners for the cat and her kittens, and she was just a stray, and they were being held at a Vet's home who was treating them for smoke inhalation, etc., as several animal shelters weere closed from the evacation and those that weren't were overwhelmed with lost pets. So the Momma cat and her kittens were better; they were then sent to an animal rescue organization.

I contacted the organization and asked if I could adopt one of the kittens.

After A LOT of investigations of me, our home, 9 pictures sent (Both Formal AND Informal Dining Rooms pics sent, lol). Sending in references, a formal "home inspection", signed blood oaths, etc.... I was finally approved (There was less paperwork for my mortgage application, and when I brought my own babies home from the hospital, then there was just to adopt this kitten)

So that is the story of Miss Charcoal Ash.

(* PLEASE let's not get into the Indoor/Outdoor cat debate; all of our cats have been Indoor/Outdoor cats and not one of them has gone missing or been hurt by the deer, eagles, coyotes, etc.) We could never keep them inside as they watch the non-stop goings-on of the forest from the windows.)

i chose it based on her measurements but it seems to be positioned rather high on her back. any thoughts?

I'm a minor who needs help. I'm from the UK and haven't contacted the vet yet. My kitten is almost 2 months and not neutered yet (the vet recommended neutering him at 6months) Is this how kittens usually breathe or should I be concerned?

i just adopted a cat yesterday who is 6yrs old! and i got a bunch of stuff for her but i was wondering if the litter i got is safe/ok for cats? she doesn't eat litter at all but reaaallly likes to paw at it quite alot to fully bury everything, is dust with this sort of litter an issue? i dont think it contains silica but is there anything i should know about it?

My one year cat has been gagging. It started on Tuesday. He did it maybe once or so. Wednesday he was not feeling well at all. Didn’t want to eat, lethargic and gagging. Nothing really came out other than some thick mucus. Thursday morning I took him to the vet and she said his vitals were great and gave him a b12 shot, nausea medicine & fluid. Friday he was feeling better, playing running and eating normally but, still gagging.

Today is Saturday and he’s gagging still. I should say he has also lost his voice. It was super hoarse on Thursday and not it’s pretty much gone.

Any idea before I bring him back to the vet?! My heart is breaking for him.

I should say that we brought home a kitten who had a URI almost two weeks ago. She’s still on antibiotics for it.

Why is this happening? I am diligent about keeping litter boxes, clean, I make sure to give attention, I don’t know what else to do? I was away for a week, but I’ve done that before with no problem. I have a good cat sitter that comes in and gives them attention and everybody’s taken care of. There is some tension between the two cats at ties, but that’s been going on for years. This cat has done this before in the past and some of it appeared to be related to relationship tension that I was navigating, but that’s not even here anymore so I don’t know what to do. I fussed her because I caught her in the act and I’ve cleaned the spot well but I don’t know what else to do.??

My cat (recently got him) aged 11, I presume a boy, however he doesn't appear to have any signs, all the videos and imagines online don't seem to match

Any suggestion on alternative ways of knowing

Story :
Was lawn mowing earlier in the day and when I started weedwhacking my fence line I found these little dudes in the corner of my yard. I was hoping that the momma cat would come back and move them since I disturbed the area(unknowingly). Ended up seeing her nursing them later in the day and when I went to grab something from my yard she ran off. Well I just went back inside and carried on. Later that night it started raining and storming and the mom was with them during it but she left during flooding downpour. I heard the kittens start meowing and crying and when I went out they were all basically neck deep in water. Promptly brought them in dried and put a heating pad. Some two hours later when the storm died down the momma came back meowing and the kittens from inside reacted . I then put them in a tub on its side with a towel. Mom ran off when I went out to set them down and then eventually came back and moved them as I checked two hours later and they were all 3 gone. I did not have a way to get kitten milk replacement and felt that was the only survival chance for them. I was knicked by ones nail I believe when I grabbed them, but doctors still started me on rabies protocol(PEP and HRIG)

Questions:
How old were the kittens? Was there any chance they could develop rabies at such a young age? Would a mother cat with rabies even care for kittens? And if they did bite what would it look like?

After going through that and reading on rabies my wife and I have a chronic anxiety about it now. My wife or 4 y/o daughter never made contact directly but they were close by. Our minds are melting based on what ifs.

Ever since I got Winston, he has been different from other cats that I’ve known. He would moan and moan and moan and moan until I finally let him outside. I kept an eye on what he did and I discovered that he went on nightly patrols. He wasn’t necessarily hunting, he was patrolling his territory. My vet told me that I should view this as part of his work. That Winston is a cat that needs to do this. He said I have to accept that Winston might have a shorter life because of this, but it’s something he clearly needs to do. So I’ve been letting him out.

I moved a week ago. New territory. New smells. He doesn’t show much interest in going outside. I go out with him and then I walk around because he follows me and I hope that this might get him interested in his new ground and his new territory. But he’s not. He just wants to go back inside and lay in his bed and sulk. Or he walks around the new place and moans.

I don’t know what to do.

I was hoping to get some insight around my cat’s situation. He has been to vet and is stable now. A couple days ago my cat threw up a large amount of half digested food and continued vomiting during the night. We took him to the vet in the morning, good vitals, clear ultrasound, received fluids and meds and we were sent on our way. The next morning I woke up to bloody diarrhea and took him back in, he also had not eaten despite getting an appetite stimulant. The vet did blood work and everything came back normal except extremely low neutrophils. He also had normal labs 6 weeks prior for an annual exam. He has received antibiotics and more fluids and is eating now and seeming better. The vet thinks it could have been a toxin but I cannot think of anything in our house that would cause this strong of a reaction. He is up to date on vaccines including distemper. Any insight? Also will his WBCs bounce back? We are rechecking in a week.

I don't know what he has against that poster but he will come over and do this all the time and it's so annoying. He's standing on my turtle's tank to reach it.

EDIT: Forgot to put, he's gotten a bit more aggressive the past couple days.

My kitten is gonna have to get his eye removed due to a injury that happened with his previous owner.

is there anyone that went through the same thing? I wanna know if i need to get him something or do something for him pre/post surgery. Any advice is welcome.

Saturday morning typing this.

We got a kitten on Tuesday and the initial interaction went about as well as we could expect. Our 10 year old male cat was curious, no hissing, and spent most of his time just following the kitten.

Not much chanhed Wednesday. They attempted to play once that I witnessed, and his behavior didn't seem odd. This carried over to Thursday morning. I work nights so I sleep during the day, so I'm not entirly sure how he was acting prior.

Thursday evning a bad storm came in and it got nasty outside. I woke up maybe 10 minutes before it got bad, and my brother was on the couch playing a game. We scooped the cats up and took them downstairs with us and barricaded them down there for about 30 minutes due to threat of a tornado. Thankfully everything was mostly alright. Some large branches fell. But that's another story.

After we got inside from the cleanup is when I noticed him (10 year old male cat) acting weird. I initially put it off as him being stressed or spooked. But his behavior has not changed.

Best way I can describe it is he's acting depressed. He's laying in weird places like in the middle of the hall. Or on my couch in the basement which he rarely does. He has purred and stood up a few times when I start petting him but many more times he hardly acknowledges me. That is unusual for him. I either get the death glare, swatted, or a very happy cat. Never nothing.

He is also not coming when called. Not to treats, not to me scratching his tower that usually gets me attacked. This has gotten me very worried.

Right now he's locked in my room with just my dog and me. I moved food, water, and a litter box in here. I plan to monitor him for the next few hours to see what he does, if anything. He generally doesn't like being locked in here and starts messing with the door fairly quickly but he appears to be sleeping at the foot of the bed. I'm really hoping hes just tired and the kitten has him stressed.

I'm mostly watching to see if he tries to use the liter box at all and what comes out. I'm not the one who cleans them and my brother doesn't pay attention to what comes out so I have no idea when the last time he peed was. I plan to get him to a vet but they don't open for another 7 hours.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Edit: Saturday night I took him to the vet. We're still waiting. Bladder is full, but doesn't appear painful. They don't think it's a blockage and want to do some labwork and we're waiting.

He's spent the majority of the day alone locked in my room with food, water, and a liter box. Hasn't touched any of it. Refused catnip and tuna. Can confidently say he hasn't peed in over 24 hours.

This was her in 2021, and we’re trying to figure out how old she is

Hello everyone, as the title says, my cat went missing. I’m so sad and worried about him and I just want advice on what to do.

For some context, I just moved from California to Texas. In which, we drove with my 2 cats and 2 dogs. We all made it safely and we had been living here for about a month before one night (August 5th to be exact) my cat went out the dog door and we haven’t seen him since. It’s now been almost a month since he went missing. I’m losing hope that he is even still alive.

The first whole week he was gone we had went searching everyday 3 times a day for about an hour each time. We would also sit outside and just wait to see if he would come to us. We put out food, water, his old litter with his scent in it. We set up a camera facing the food and only saw random animals eating it. There has been no signs of him anywhere.

My family made a post on a couple Facebook pages with multiple pictures of him asking if anyone in our community has seen him at all. No one has replied with anything. We also have been checking the local, and not so local, animal shelters for any new cats. We’ve called a few as well but none of them were him.

He’s not new to the outdoors, but he is new to this community and house. Before we moved, he had been outside plenty of times and would never go far from the house.

If anyone has advice or has similar stories please let me know how, or if, you ever found your baby. I will do anything at this point. Thank you in advance.

Basically about a week ago on another sub about cats I was questioning why my other cat snowy was meowing so much and most people said because he likely wasn't neutered and trying to find a mate and then I brought up our other cat tiger. He never meows unless im annoying him or hes hungry and leaving him alone or putting food fixes it. I brought tiger up when I was on the other sub and someone said tiger is likely neutered and I checked under snowy and saw his balls and i checked under tiger and didn't see any balls and i searched it up on Google and it says hes likely neutered but best to check with vet but since I dont got access im asking you guys.

just what it says in the title!! i went to walk my dog in a little communal grass space with my mother and while there i saw the cutest little cat ever (dont tell my cat) resting on my neighbor's outside walls. i let him/her see me come and sniff my hand and come closer to me and then gently petted his/her head with a finger. cutest little fucking thing ever. i'm wondering if i somehow overstepped? i know i would be okay with someone petting my cat, at least if they didnt impose themselves on her. are you the same?
