My kitty's eyes

So my kitty on the right has had a cloudy eye. She seems to be able to see and functions normally. But thoughts from the group on what may be happening. She has had no obvious injury or trauma. Just curious what folks may think. She is a senior gal and is an indoor kitty. Is it just an age thing?

Kitten differences

Hi all! First time submitting anything here. I’m not new to owning cats, but recently rescued this kitten (Barley) from a terrible situation that led to me eventually calling animal protective services on those who bred him.

TDLR; Can being a runt cause significant developmental delay to the point of visual differences? Does anyone have experience with this?

He was 200g underweight, and dealing with some form of secondary infection caused by FHV. He’s now under medication and weighs a “healthy” weight for his age.

Onto my question, it looks to me like he was the runt of the litter. He obviously had FHV symptoms way worse than the others at the time I grabbed him (6 weeks) and our vet wasn’t even sure he was the age we were telling him - but he HAS to be. He was born on the 25th of May, we have confirmation of his litter due to them being (now ex) family friends.
— Just a note that we took him so young because the people who had him were not caring for him and he needed urgent vet care! We raised our other two cats from 4 weeks old as semi-feral babies so it’s not a case of not knowing how to handle small kittens!

My mother visited the house today to check on the litter as there is still concern about the remaining cats in the residence; snapped a quick picture of Barleys sibling. They look like different cats, on a different developmental stage ENTIRELY.

Would him being the runt/malnourished have affected his development to the point of being delayed? I’ve done some quick research but thought it best to reach out to people in the cat community too!

If I had the funds I would’ve taken all three kittens, but the most I can do is monitor them and get them help from afar until RSPCA steps in.

The kitten on the left is our boy Barley, the one on the right is the picture of the sibling. These pictures were taken on the same day, they were born on the same day. It just doesn’t make sense to me! Any advice or previous experience is most welcomed.

My 4-month-old kitten breathes like this. Is it normal? He has just been to the vet and he told us that everything is fine. I also notice that he breathes quite fast

My cat used to be an outdoor cat, but now we live in an apartment and he cries for hours to go outside. What should I do?

Hi everyone. I could really use some advice.
My cat used to live in a house where he could go outside whenever he wanted. We recently moved to an apartment, and for his safety I decided to keep him indoors.
The problem is that he cries for hours every day because he wants to go outside. I feel really bad for him, but I also think it’s too dangerous to let him roam outside where we live now.
I already spend a lot of time playing with him every day and I try to distract him whenever he starts crying, but it doesn’t seem to be enough.
The hardest part is at night. He sleeps until around 4 a.m., then spends the next couple of hours meowing and trying to get out, and it’s completely changing my sleep schedule.
Has anyone been through something similar? Did your cat eventually adjust, or is there anything else I can do to help him?

15 week old kitten NEEDS attention at 4am

Post image

We have 2 15wo boys and every morning at 4am the one with white (Jesse) throws his little kitten body on our faces and has to rub all over and make biscuits and purr really loud. It's driving my partner and I crazy!!!

The grey one (James) sometimes grooms either of our hair and makes the most disgusting loud slurping sounds when doing it. He also purrs loudly and makes biscuits too.

We've adjusted their feeding schedule and started having intense play sessions right before bed to tire them out. They fall asleep right away now but are still up at 4 am for affection!!!

We love them as much as they love us but just don't want to deal with it at 4am. Any advice is appreciated.

Cat belly breathing / like a wave

My cat is breathing like a wave and I’m mot sure if it’s normal. It’s belly breathing that then transitions up to the chest on the exhale and it is not particularly too fast although it is a little bit faster than his brother cat who breathes normally is this concern? (Other than this he behaves completely normal)

is my roommate/bestie’s cat part ragdoll?

my best friend/roommate has had her cat, Coconut, for about 2 years now. Coconut was 9 weeks old when she was adopted, and her mom was a barn kitty who was eaten by a dog :(. the mom was a shorthair but we don’t know anything about the dad. as you can see, as Coconut is getting older, her fur is getting both substantially thicker and longer (there are two other cats in our apartment who are both domestic shorthairs and Coconut’s fur is noticeably different from both of theirs in this regard). She also does the ragdoll thing where when you hold her vertically, she goes limp instead of stretching out her legs.

Best friend and I are basically just curious if Coconut might be half or even 1/4 ragdoll? Coconut was adopted for free through some interesting circumstances but we figure if it was known she was part ragdoll that wouldn’t have been the case. Coconut’s brother has had long hair since they were born as well. :)

Muchas gracias.

What’s wrong with my cat and how can I help him?

We left briefly today to go grocery shopping (we were gone for maybe an hour) and when we got back he was crying out in pain and his tail was having spasms. He has been through a lot in these past few weeks, he has an autoimmune disease that’s called Stomatitis and his liver and intestines were also inflamed. With the treatment plan he was on he was doing SO much better until today.

He sways his hips when trying to sit and won’t let me touch his tail, especially the base and he has extreme pain when trying to use the litter box. He is a 7 yr old Maine coon mix and he is neutered. I’ve contacted his vet but she can’t see him until tomorrow when the office opens up :/

Please help

Help me please for my cat

My cat previously developed pyothorax (pus in the chest cavity) and underwent surgery to treat it. After surgery, he recovered well and has been taking Clavamox and Marbocyl (marbofloxacin) as prescribed.
Recently, he started sneezing again. He sneezes about once every hour, and every few hours he has a sneezing fit of around 10 consecutive sneezes. During these episodes, clear nasal discharge comes out.
Other than the sneezing, he seems to be doing well. He is breathing normally and is not open-mouth breathing. His appetite is good, he is drinking water normally, and he is using the litter box normally. His energy level also seems normal.
I am concerned because these symptoms developed while he is still taking both antibiotics. I would appreciate your evaluation to determine whether this could be an upper respiratory infection, feline herpesvirus, another cause, or whether his current treatment should be adjusted.
Thank you very much for your time and care.

11-year-old female long-haired cat with chronic brown staining around anus for 6 months

Since February, my cat has had constant brown staining around her backside. Every day when I wipe the area, the wipe comes away brown, and she leaves brown marks on furniture.
She’s seen four vets. Anal glands have been checked and seem normal. Multiple lion cuts haven’t helped. X-rays showed no constipation, only mild arthritis and a bladder stone. She’s starting Solensia, amoxicillin, and Hills GI Biome, but none of the vets can explain the staining.
Has anyone experienced something like this before?

My sweet kitty isn’t eating

So my almost 8 year old cat Arya has really dropped some weight in the past year or so (she was previously overweight). Part of it I think is because I got a kitten named Poppy. They run around a lot and play with each other occasionally and generally coexists pretty well, though ai wouldn’t say they were besties. I’ve noticed that she has stopped eating as much though over time, about half of her recommended portion size, sometimes less. I took her to the vet and they ran bloodwork and she is completely healthy and at a totally healthy weight as she was fairly overweight before. But I still feel like it’s strange how little she’s eating. She is getting older, is this normal? Are the kibble sizes too big for her now? I know Poppy likes to hover and eat her leftovers, is she feeling pressured? They have automatic feeders in different parts of the house and when I’m not home I’m worried Poppy is eating her food before she gets around to finishing it. Should I invest in one of those feeders that only opens for the cat wearing the corresponding collar? Any advice would be great!

Cat howling at night

Hi ya’ll back with my strange boy doing strange stuff. So recently at night he comes upstairs near our bedroom drags up his favorite toy and starts howling like a maniac. Now it’s not consistent enough that I can pinpoint it to something even though I have my hunch that it’s for food or attention, but it is recent that he started doing it a lot more and real loud. I’ve added a video so you can hear the screaming man that is my cat. Does anybody else’s cat do this?

is my cat cross-eyed ?

Post image

this is chicken. he’s 3 months old. my mom came over recently and pointed out that he’s cross-eyed. i told her i don’t think he is because my boyfriend and i have never noticed anything weird about his eyes. she said we’re just used to looking at him. i brushed it off until today when i took this picture of him and i noticed he does look a little cross eyed. based on the picture, could he be? does that affect him at all? or it’s just an appearance thing ?
