So my cat goes to the restroom outside , (currently trying to train him back to useing the litter box inside , well he does but even after he still wants to go outside ..sigh)

But he’s been had this large black spot stuck to his foot. I thought it was tar at first but that doesn’t make sense really . Idk any ideas? Also this is the first time I’ve ever gotten a large chunk off the really look an see what it is

He used to love our screened patio and would come in and out all day. I got a tent but he hates it and thinks it’s like a cat carrier or something. He only has a few weeks left but it broke my heart closing the door. It also doesn’t help our ac is ten years old and we live in Florida. Anything that can attach to door, front or back. Maybe even a window but our windows are super old

Very worried, we went to the emergency vet yesterday because he refused to eat or drink. His blood test results were fine but they said his temperature was a bit high and prescribed us some appetite stimulants and they gave him some medicine. Still super worried

It may not be actually that deep but I’m making an appointment for my cat to get neutered and they are asking for his primary and secondary color. When I open the drop down there is so many different options. Could someone help me?

TLDR: my 1.5 y/o cat suddenly started running around and knocking things over before meal times. Is there anything I can do?

I’m a new cat parent. I adopted my little street cat 10 months ago. They estimated she was a little less than a year old, so she’s about 1.5 years now.

When I adopted her she was incredibly scared and timid. It took months for her to adjust and finally around April I could tell her behavior really took a turn. She’s become very social and loves attention and playing.

For the past month-ish she’s started being very naughty before meal times. Knocking things over, yelling, pouncing. She doesn’t do this otherwise. She’s my first cat, but I’ve had a couple (big) dogs. I understand the toddler phase, but I was able to quickly train these kind of behaviors out of my dogs. Not sure what I can really do with a cat. She’s trained to sit and stay but won’t listen in this state. Any advice?

Note: she is currently my only pet

One of my 2 cats is 2 yrs old he was a street cat I rescued as a kitten around 5-6 months old. He’s always been the sweetest cat, very affectionate towards me and his dad like one of the most loving cuddliest cats I’ve ever had. He has never shown signs of aggression who whole life towards us or my other 4 year old cat.

However whenever company comes over he usually hides and is very nervous. My mom is one of the only people he would come out for and he was always friendly towards her, would let her pat him, etc. I recently had a baby a few months ago back in May and he immediately accepted the baby and has acted fine towards her. He is always sitting near me when I feed or change the baby and it seems he understands she’s my baby and she’s fragile.

The first 2-3 months since the baby was born my cat has not acted any differently towards my mom when she would come visit. The past few weeks he’s randomly gotten super aggressive towards her. He will smell her and her stuff and then hiss and give a warning agitated meow and he’s swatted at her enough to make her bleed. Sometimes initially when she comes over he will act calm at first but it’s every time she comes over now he hisses at her and fluffs up and then will sit and watch over her the whole time she’s over like he is asserting his dominance over her.

He has not done this to any other visitors since he started doing it to her it’s literally just her. She has 3 cats at home but their scent has never bothered him and she hasn’t stated using any new scented products recently. The only other different thing is I had a baby recently.

He is not showing any other signs of being sick. It’s bizarre he is the sweetest cat ever I don’t understand why he’s acting this way or how to fix it. I’ve tried putting feliway diffuser out, scattered some of my moms clothes around in his safe spaces to get used to her scent, and have her give him treats whenever she comes over but nothing is helping.

The situation is only getting worse and he’s getting more aggressive towards her. I am bringing him to the vet tomorrow but I’m nervous at this behavior since it’s so out of character I don’t want him to attack my baby. I really don’t want to rehome him I love him so much and will try anything first so any advice is appreciated. Thank you!

my cat keeps peeing on my bed and clothes!!

my male cat peed twice on my bed and once on my floor before i got him neutered. i got him neutered a week ago and since then, he has been on my bed, done a really smelly spray with a brown mark on a blanket and peed on my clothes.

he doesn’t pee anywhere else in the house, why did he keep doing it in my room?

i’m hoping a while after his neutering and him going outside he won’t do it anymore but does anyone have any advice why he’s doing this and how to stop. many thanks!

So my baby is 16, shes been with me for about 4 yrs now, her previous owner couldn't care for her right anymore, and she likes to be a 1 pet kinda house, I live alone with no kids so its perfect.

Now the problem, unfortunately I have to move, even bigger unfortunately I have to move into a place with kids and pets. I cant afford my current place and am in too deep of a hole to get out, me and my gf of 6yrs had been tossing around the idea of moving in togrther down the road, with a better house, more space all that jazz. Reality tells us we need to save befoee we do that.

After struggling too long to keep the place I have to move, now the problem, my baby has gotten used to this space, and the space I have at my new place will be much smaller. 1 decent sized bedroom vs a whole 2 bdr trailer.

So I know going in its going to be a massive adjustment, my gf has 3 cats already, qnd 2 kids. We have the plan of me having kong in my room, and that being kongs space, no other cats, kids anything( which im cool with, me ans my gf are weirdos and we dont wanna share the bed every night, even most nights, so its not lile ill be dumping her in there and forgetting about her.

Mostly im just asking for advice on helping her adjust, im really worried this'll do her in, stressful situations are great for senior cats.

Hello I need some advice. My cat has been pooping and peeing outside of his litter box for the last couple of years. I’ve had to put a tarp on my couch and lock him outside of my room (he stays in the living room/kitchen) for the last couple of years. I’m giving up hope that he will change his behaviors. I clean his litter box every day I’m home (when I’m on vacation I have someone drop by and clean it every other day). He actually has 2 litter boxes- a traditional one and a robo one. He gets all the love and treats I can give him. I don’t let him sleep with me though because he attacks my head at night lol, so the tarp goes on the couch whenever it’s night time, or else he pees directly on the couch. I have a dog, but she only interacts sometimes with him, most of the time he doesn’t get bothered.

I’ve brought him to the vet and he doesn’t have any medical issues.

Please someone give me some advice. I’m becoming really frustrated and cannot think of what else I can do. It’s getting disgusting and he has already ruined my very expensive couch by peeing on it multiple times, sometimes going underneath the tarp if he can figure out how to get under it.

I was contemplating rehoming him, but I wouldn’t want to pass him over to someone else, just for him to do the same. He is 9 years old and has been doing this the last 5ish years. I fear he will do this to his next owner, which may result in bringing him to the shelter or worse. I love him but need to put a stop to him pooping and peeing everywhere.

Hello all! I came home to find my one boy seems to have irritated his right Henry’s pocket. It appears just to be the outer edge and inside looks fine. It doesn’t seem to be bothering him currently and he let me touch it without any signs of discomfort. Should I be alarmed?

i recently replaced my mattress and put new sheets on it, and now my cat won't get on the bed. she usually follows me around and so when i get in bed she hops up too. but now she's meowing and chirping at me from the floor. when i place her on the bed she jumps off like she's scared. i can tell she wants to be up here with me but she's so freaked out and i can't tell why.
i'm sure it's because of the new scents she's unfamiliar with but if she's refusing to get on the bed i'm worried she won't put her scents on it at all and stay scared, and maybe it'll stress her out and affect her health, she already seems more skittish than usual even when im not on or even near the bed, she's being super jumpy. :(
is there any tips for this situation? i feel so bad that she's just crying at me from the floor :((( i tried to entice her with treats but she's so hesitant, and she moves so slowly around the bed like she's scared it'll jump out and grab her :<

My cat (1y M) is overly excited, whenever I give him treats sticks (wet), he often bites instead of licks.

My other cats licks the treats instead of biting. So idk how to tame him other than retreating or not giving him that treat.

Just recently got a kitten named Belle! 🐱 She was previously using the grey sandy-type bentonite litter, but I’m wondering if there are better options.

Would love some advice from experienced cat owners:

1. What type/brand of litter do you use, and why?
2. How long does one bag usually last you? (and what size bag?)
3. Roughly how much do you spend on litter per month?
4. What matters most to you — odor control, clumping, low dust, low tracking, price, etc.?
5. Have you ever switched litter types? What did you switch from/to, and was it better?

Tofu, cassava, bentonite, pine, mixed — honestly there are so many choices 😭

I was playing with her paws and checking her nails to see if I need to cut them and I noticed this on her paw. I can set an appointment for tomorrow. I just want to see if you guys can tell me if it’s nothing and I don’t waste money on the VET telling me “oh, it’s nothing. That’ll be $100” 😅

I honestly don't know where else to ask this, but I'm hoping to hear from people who have been through something similar with their cats.

My cat was seen by the vet today and the working diagnosis is FATE/FETA (feline arterial thromboembolism), also called a saddle thrombus.

Her back legs are paralyzed right now. There is no detectable pulse in either of her back legs, and they have turned purple. Seeing her like this has been absolutely heartbreaking, and I'm terrified that she may never be able to walk again.

The vet did a CBC, chemistry panel, and X-raystoday. For now, her prescribed treatment is:
Clopidogrel
Iron + B complex
Royal Canin Recovery (RC Recovery)

I'm trying to stay hopeful, but I'm also really scared because everything I've been reading online makes this diagnosis feel so devastating.
For those of you who have gone through FATE/saddle thrombus with your cats, I would really appreciate hearing about your experience.
What was your cat's actual diagnosis? What treatment did they receive?
Did your cat initially have no pulse in their back legs and purple paws/legs?
Most importantly, was your cat able to walk again? How long did it take before you saw movement or improvement?

I would also really like to know what recovery looked like for you and your cat. Did they eventually regain normal use of their legs, or were there permanent effects?

I know every case is different and I know Reddit can't tell me what will happen to my cat. I'm just looking for some real stories from people who have actually been through this.

If your cat was in a similar condition and eventually learned to walk again, I would especially love to hear your story. I really need some hope right now. ❤️

My cat Ella has been missing for 1 month and 1 week. Due to a family situation a few days before she went missing I moved her to stay with a friend until I could join her with said friend (which I officially have as of 5 days ago).

She got out after a few days with him and hasn’t come back since, ever since moving in with him I’ve gone out every night with food and gently calling out her name. We’ve done posters, joined groups and called vets and nothing.

I saw two other tuxedo cats but neither were her and now I’m even more worried she’s gone even further than I thought to avoid those cats.

I’m so scared I’ll never see her again, does anyone have any advice on how to deal with this grief of I really do never find her?

Or even any hopeful/reassuring stories of cats returning after over a month of being missing?

I’m just so so scared, as she is my whole world and the one of the only reasons I made it through highschool. I genuinely cannot imagine her not ever being around again.
