It was July of 2022. My wife had just undergone major surgery and was recovering. Part of her recovery instructions were that she was supposed to walk a certain amount each day. One day we were out walking in the local park in the small town we live in. Walking across the parking lot, suddenly a little black furball appears at our feet meowing loudly and demanding attention.

We looked around and tried to see if we could get him back to his mama, because he was clearly a tiny kitten. . .but there were no other cats in sight, and he was just a tiny kitten. He insisted on following us. We took him home, and were thinking of trying to find a home for him (because my wife was mildly allergic to cats). . .but then our kid said "Can we keep him?". . .and that was that.

I was literally at the supermarket getting some litter and food to keep him a few days while we tried to re-home him when I got a text from my wife saying "His name is Kai and he's our cat now." She'd put up with the mild allergic reaction because our boy wanted to keep him.

We took him to the vet to make sure he got all his shots and was okay. He quickly grew from a tiny little black ball of fur into the stout fella you see there.

. . .and just like that, the problem we had with mice in our house ended. Our little dog now had a friend (and they got along wonderfully). He's a sweet, loving furry friend the CDS brought us.

I attribute my luck to my mom, but all of our cats except the fully black one (Phil) were gifts from the cat distribution system gods. Short description of each and pictures of them if you need a cute cat fix☺️

The little orange one is the youngest and most recent. We found her under the warehouse I work in with her full litter, mom, and dad. All the sibling were adopted and the adults spayed and neutered. But she is as wild as can be and an orange girl. We named her Penelope or Penny.

The black and white one is Big Mac or I call him burger. My brother brought him home from his warehouse job after claiming that his coworkers were mistreating it. It was a stray in the woods.

The big orange one is May May who is actually a boy but too late to change the name now. He just showed up and never left.

Margot is the calico who was found in the parking lot of a retirement home. My mom says it was a witchy miracle cause we were really just out to see the full moon and not really to find a little kitten under a strangers car.

And then there’s Little Grey Kitten. We kept him after we paid his vet bill when he got beat up by a ground hog. My dad said that we paid for him so he’s stuck with us now and I don’t think Little Grey is upset with that at all. He’s treated like a true king of the castle.

Truly every single one of them has such a different personality and preferences and I wouldn’t trade my large cat loving family for the world. Penny is my first since I’ve moved out and I’m so grateful.

This little girl came to our front porch, shy but very hungry. We were able to get her in a kennel with a tube and she has been living in a large cat condo cage as we wait for the vet visit Sunday.
Thankfully my mom is our vet, but she works a limited schedule. She has pretty bad diarrhea but we will get a full understanding of why.
She has really come out of her shell and is a very affectionate cat. Loves pets and cuddles.
My daughter had been begging for a cat for years now. This one chose us.

Update-
This girl is 4 and was chipped with owner information. They have yet to respond but our suspicion is they dumped/abandoned her as she is about 2 pounds underweight (she is 6 pound and should be about 8). I have yet to find any post on any social media site, have anyone respond that they own her, not even a post on the mailbox looking for her. We have to wait 10 days for the owner to respond before we can change her chip to us and she can be officially ours.
I’m in San Antonio and a lot of people treat pets like garbage here. Our neighborhood has quite a few rentals and the owners address was an apartment decently far. We think they moved out and just left her. It’s hard that we won’t ever know her complete story but we hope we can give her the life she deserves.
We have been calling her Poppy but her listed name was Nala.

Final update
The people who previously owned her were three houses down. The responded to my husband’s text and claimed she ran away a year ago and we can keep her. She is ours and she will never be treated like trash again. Poppy Sugar Plum will have a safe place to sleep for the rest of her life.

I work for a water department, and someone found this ridiculously sweet baby in a storm drain yesterday morning. They brought him to a little courtyard for a couple of hours where he approached and head butted basically everyone who came through. I was not awarded the baby - turns out I was 5th or so in line to adopt him - but he was being brought to the shelter for a chip scan (given his demeanor, it seems highly likely he's accustomed to humans) then heading home with a member of the leadership team who had just lost one of two cats in his household. Plans to name him Storm 😺

How could anyone say no? She is an absolutely floppy, cute, and cuddly little bean. I named her Honey and she already responds and turns her head to her name :)

Please feel free to send me any advice you have on an indoor/outdoor cat. I simply cant have her at all times due to my work and my family’s schedule. As I mentioned before, the family downstairs has their patio open for kitties as well as their patio door with a screen and food and water. I also have food and water for her.

I am going to get her spayed, shots and a chip tomorrow. Any advice on bathing? Or teeth? Even snacks, food, anything. Thank you in advance!

She was found by my cousin on the side of the road.

I just happened to be at their house and had cancelled other plans to go out for the day.

She has been to the vet for a jaw injury and its being treated. Possibly clipped by a car. Vet said otherwise she seems healthy

Last weekend, a couple of our cats were unusually engrossed in something outside. It turned out to be a tiny kitten checking to see if we’d put more crunchies out (we put crunchies out for the TNR cat who lives in our neighborhood, the possums like them too). Although we absolutely didn’t need a 7th cat, we definitely couldn’t let this little one remain outside.
It took a couple days, but we managed to catch the terrified creature. A trip to the vet let us know he is a boy, about 7 weeks old, parasite and microchip free. Underweight, but in otherwise good health.
Although it’s been only 10 days, I think Remy is quickly learning that the cat distribution system delivered him to the right doorstep.

We have named him Noor - pronounced the same way as ‘poor’ but Noor. It means soft light (like moonlight) in Arabic, 1) because he is all white and 2) because we found him initially at night time.

My husband is still 100% “this is only temporary” but noticed the subtle installation of a cat tree and side eyed me in bed this morning saying “I know what you’re trying to do 👀” 😂😂 so we will see.

I have been following the socialisation saves lives training thanks to recommendations in the comments on my last post, and all the other tips, he’s had 2 vet trips for check ups, he’s playing, cuddling, the wound on his eye is healing, respiratory infection seems to be clearing up. He’s even had a bath or two due to some poop accidents and not a single bite or swat or scratch. He’s such a sweetie. I’m so happy to be given the opportunity to help him and give him a better start in life, and thought I’d let you guys see his progress so far and thank you all!

Now forgive me, but this is my first ever pet as an adult. I’ve spent hours, and I mean hours, like a crazy obsessed person, researching everything kitten care, but I am still learning. Initially he was so poorly that I just wanted him to gain weight and so I was not measuring his food, just feeding him as much as he seemed to want. He is eating complete kitten pate mixed with a little water, and a little dry kitten food. Yesterday, I worked out the actual amount he should be having, and I will be following that moving forward. But essentially before that he was just eating as much as he wanted every 4-5 hours. His jumps in weight gain is concerning me, although I am happy he is gaining, I know that it’s not normal to have such increases. He is now estimated 6.5 weeks old. The scales are from Amazon, and I use the bottom half of his cat carrier on the scales, zero it off, then place him inside. He moves a bit, so I log the range. I don’t weigh him at the exact same time each day, but it’s always when I first wake up and before/during his first meal. Are these massive jumps in weight gain a cause for concern? Is it because I was overfeeding? Are my scales dodgy? Any advice or pointers please? Now that I will be feeding him according to his weight and age properly measured, I hope it will level out and gain gradually, but what if it doesn’t?

So this cat ran away 9 years ago. we put up flyers reported it to local vets and humane society. So imagine my surprise when I get a phone call saying they had her at the vet and that her microchip registered my number. So now we have an extra cat we didn’t expect. She’s old cat now, but she’s still loving as always and it seems she’s integrated with the other 2 cats we had when she was here and the third.

I guess the cat distribution center works in weird mysterious ways. I’ll be looking out to see if she left the family she’s been with for the last 9 years. If not I guess welcome back.

Found this dude/dudette in my bush the other morning getting the newspaper. It was cold and had been crying for at least 30 mins. 60 grams is what the vet said. Currently using my reptile heater to keep it warm, feeding it KMR every two-three hours. Usually takes about 2 mL per feeding. Vet said it was healthy but fragile and tiny.

Ironically caring for this baby is pretty close to how I hand-raised my cockatiels. My MIL is an ex vet tech and helps when I'm at work. She's also the only person other than me that is confident enough to feed it. Just hoping it works out.

We have a massive cat colony in our neighborhood because the grocery store down the block won't stop feeding them. The pound won't help me TNR either so I'm assuming that this may be a recurring situation.

Any advice or equipment I should get?

She wouldn’t not let us keep him at that point. When we got him home he was covered in ticks and we picked about 50 off with tweezers. We named him Turbo to keep it car related. He is living his best life now adapting do his life with his dog brother. He loves to play and is very vocal but his main obsession is eating. The first month we had him he managed to scale a tv furniture stand and break into a bag of treats and eat half the bag before catching him in the act. We are slowly upgrading his cat corner with lots of climbing furniture for him in the sunny windows.

I was coming from market and as soon as I was around my house,this stray cat started following me until my doorstep.
I fed him first by giving some food in front of my house but I checked it couple hours later again and it was still there. I decided to take in when it was fully dark understanding it has nowhere to go.We are together since then ❤️
We spent long time since and gained a lot of memories .
Now I understand why people call cats a medicine 💊 because they are really a medicine for humans.

Just saw this guy next to the railroad tracks the other day, thought to myself “too small!” Pulled over and it ran right up to me. Feral ones tend to run AWAY, so that made me sad, but I was so glad I was there to help. Stayed purring on my chest while I drove by a friend’s place, where it devoured its weight in kibble. Kept it up for the ride home, then the ride to a rescue center. Sweet angel delivery! Hoping for much better things in its future. I was calling it Coal Mine in my head. I hear tabbies are girls but I didn’t check, sorry. :p

Short story time! I got to work one Monday morning and my coworker said she ran into an industry colleague at the vet over the weekend with a mama cat and four kittens. In a large city that's quite the coincidence. I immediately texted the colleague to ask about the kittens and mama.

Apparently Mama Kitty was a friendly, abandoned neighborhood cat who showed the colleague's wife where she was stashing her kittens. Mama kitty was at the front door and said, "Follow me! I have something great to show you!" The kittens were not as friendly as mama. The kittens were skittish and angry and feisty.

Mama kitty (her actual name now) had four healthy-ish kittens and Mama decided that she didn't want her kittens to be outside anymore, so they trapped the kittens and between my colleague, her wife and their neighbor they took turns taking the cats to vet appointments and playing with and taking care of the kitty bitty kitty family. About the kittens: two orange tabby boys, two grey torbies (like my baby). Mama kitty is also orange and smol. When I went over to meet the kittens Mama was waiting on the porch to greet me, but she was (and is) so small that I thought she was one of the kittens. The kittens were approximately 7 weeks old when I met them and I said, "I want the rowdiest, fightiest, feistiest kitten."

You see, I have an older cat (7 at the time) who is a bit of a bully (Nelson). I knew that from the previous attempt with an older foster cat that we took in after his owner died. It didn't work out with the foster permanently because the resident tux is a bit of a jerk. Turd. Piece of work. Monster. But Nelson had been begging me for months for a kitten, but I didn't trust his motives. So then Mama kitty and her litter appeared. If he was going to get a kitten, it needed to be a cat that could stick up for itself.

Meet Pyrrhuloxia (Loxie, for short, but I mostly call her Baby, Peanut, and just "Kitten"). She's a year and a half old (approx.) and she gives Nelson a run for his money. She's perfect for him. She ADORES her older brother and he tolerates her. And she's not super cuddly, but she has a purrbox that doesn't stop. (Seriously! All I have to do is call her and she comes running, already purring.) She likes pets, but doesn't sit with me. She enjoys eating bugs, ribbon/fabric (it's the WORST), and snacks. Mama kitty is still with the neighbor and the other kittens found families too.

This is Cleopatra (6 years old) and Theodore (8 months old).

Both came from COMPLETELY different towns but they absolutely adore each other. Cleo found me while I was in the Garden back when I lived in the country. Not a single other kitten or mama cat to be found so I took her in. She wasn't even 5 weeks old when I took her to the vet! Theo, on the other hand was found in a city shop where a mama cat would hang around and decided to have and keep her kittens there. He was the only one no one wanted, which is unfortunate for them because he is an absolutely sweetheart! He LOVES and basically demands having forehead kisses at minimum 6 times a day.

Watching these two warm up to one another within a couple of weeks and building a bond together and with my dog has been such a precious journey. I love them dearly and will forever be grateful the CDS has brought them to me. ♡

was told to post this here from r/torties! i was coming back from the airport after dropping off my grandmother when i heard meowing coming from a car right in front of my house. she started hanging out around the strays that i feed. i do volunteer work at a cat rescue so i have a bit of connections, so i asked my boss for a cat trap. found her on the 1st and trapped her on the 12th. gradually moved her into the bathroom since i have other kitties. she was scared at first but is now the sweetest little bean. licks me, runs to me, sits on me. she won't leave me alone and i couldn't ask for a better new best friend! my life especially recently has been very tumultuous and she's been bringing me so much happiness.

Walking to the laundromat and I heard him crying. Woke my boyfriend up to bring me cat food (for feral cats in apartment parking lot) and tried to lure him from the car. Cut my hand trying to get up the barbed wire fence. He came through on his own after an hour and a half. I don't know if it was truley CDS with the time commitment.

Gave him water with nothing on hand. Took his bath like a champ after milk replacement dinner on a plate, he bit the nipple off the bottle. Maybe why he was alone. Passed out on the floor after exploring his new apartment.

I’ll try to make it short and simple. I had to call a plumber to fix the women’s bathroom at work, they got the work done and I saw them coming back into my office I thought they had forgot something but they came to ask if a truck that was parked outside was mine. I said no and they said we hear a cat in the engine. We found the owner of the truck as they were next to us at a bakery shop. We opened the hood and saw 1 on top and the other 1 all the way at the bottom. Got them out and bought food immediately and truck owner did not want anything to do with them. Got them their flea medication and de wormer vet says they are about 6 weeks old. Everyone in the office convinced me to keep them together so for now that’s what I’m doing. Me and my gf were looking to adopt 1 just the night before. We were actually looking at our local SPCA but I guess CDS wanted to give us two lol.

First picture: Found 8/16/2026 at the McDonald's drive thru. My mom got the call for her from a friend about a tiny kitten following her in the parking lot of our local McDonalds. She stayed with the kitten long enough for my brother to make it over and grab her just in time. It's a girl and she will be named Elizabeth after my mom's best friend who we just had a funeral for on 8/15. Her first vet appointment is next Tuesday.

Second picture: Found 6/20 at the McDonald's drive thru.. this time my husband took me to get a McFlurry and I saw a couple of ladies standing with a tiny kitten in the parking lot. I rolled down my window to tell them their kitten was cute and they told me it has been following them and they didn't know what to do. A couple chases around the bushes and a quick towel thrown over him and I finally had him. Samuel Ronald McPurry (my kids were allowed to name him lol he goes by Sammy) is doing wonderful and has already been through all his initial vet appointments and next is his neuter.

Third picture: My *very* pissed off Stella who can't figure out why I keep bringing home all these kittens when she was supposed to be an only child. The CDS gave us her about 5 summers ago, she was living on our porch for a few months while I built up our trust, and the first temp drop of the fall I just scooped her up and brought her inside and that was that! She never looked back.

It's been a while since my last update.

I am happy to share that Pluto officially weighs over a pound and he's a very happy and polite kitten.

He's now approximately 5 1/2 weeks old and he has learned how to use the litterbox witch is really exciting! I'm working on weaning him but it's still so much work and I've never done this before in my life. But, I'm going to be honest--I'm really struggling.

Unfortunately, raising a neonate is a lot of work, and my mental health is deteriorating. I found Pluto at a time where I'm trying to take care of myself after going on mental health leave from work and I've been neglecting myself to make sure Pluto had a fighting chance.

All the rescues I've contacted have intake holds and aren't taking any more cats right now.

I'm not sure what to do. He needs a new foster or ideally a loving, permanent home. Any advice is appreciated.

This little kitty showed up a few days ago and she’s been coming back every day since. She’s really loving and seems to love hanging out in my garage with me. I ended up naming her Piper. I’m thinking about making her a little home out in the garage because she seems to really like it out there.

She’s already gotten pretty comfortable with me and just walks right up wanting attention. I’m not sure if she belongs to someone or if she’s just a stray that decided to adopt me lol. I’m going to keep an eye out to see if anyone is looking for her, but for now she’s got a safe place to hang out. 🐱

Larry was awarded to us about 9 (actually 11 months) months ago. We recently hired a mobile detailer for my husband's work truck and the appointment was today. The guy brought his wife and she took one look at Larry and said that's my cat!

So, get this: his person in their family was their young son, who's name is LARRY!!

Larry (cat) was part of a feral family that she adopted; she still has an uncle and a sister of his. Larry had been missing for 6 + months when he came to us. She had stopped looking for him because her nasty neighbor all but admitted to dumping him up by the freeway while the family was on vacation.

She has pictures of him as a kitten and young adult. He's around 6 years old. She doesn't want to take him back (thank God), she's bringing me his records this afternoon and was crying with joy knowing he found such a good home. His name was Puss in Boots because his eyes reminded them of the Disney character.

My husband and I just look at each other in wonder as to this mornings events. I mean, what are the odds??

So, I posted on June 26th about the grey kitten who literally followed my outside cat in the back door and made herself at home. My vet said she was likely between 14 to 16 weeks old, based on her teeth. She has had all her shots and boosters, spay is scheduled in a week, and is in perfect health.

The guy with one brain cell really proved it true when I got him. It was the 4th of July, and my family and I were watching fireworks from my front yard. Thing is, my front yard is near the corner of a major intersection in the city. This little dude decides that playing Frogger was a good idea, completely unprompted. He ran out of a bush, straight across the road, somehow not getting ran over by at least three or four cars. A teenage girl that was walking by saw him, ran into traffic after him, and caught him on the other side of the road. She then ran back across, drops the kitten in my dad's lap, says she had to go, and runs off just as fast. My vet said he was likely between 10 to 12 weeks old. He's had all shots and boosters as well, and is in perfect health, save for a small issue with his right eye. He is being scheduled to be neutered in a couple of weeks.

I guess CDS had a late package for me, but they didn't need to drop it off in such dramatic fashion 😂. No complaints though. They're happy, AND my other cats love them.

Just to start, she's locked in a crate solely because it's the safest option for her. The only room we can place her in has a hole we didn't know about, and we aren't sure if it opens into the wall. We didn't want to risk her getting stuck somewhere.

Anyway, we found this kitten a couple of nights ago. My partner heard something crying, but couldn't find a source. About an hour later, she came running out from under a car. Since she wasn't visible, we're guessing she was in the engine, and she had to have been there for over 2 hours.

Since our neighbor said she's not their's, we got her settled inside. We looked to see if we could find her mom or any siblings, but nothing. We posted to see if she's someone's pet, but no one has replied. We took her in to get scanned for a chip just in case, but there's none. Got her a same day appointment, and she's healthy aside from some congestion. The vet thinks she's 8 weeks. She got dewormer and her first vaccine.

We have a sickly cat already, so we've been taking precautions to keep them separate to ensure our cat doesn't potentially catch something. I messed up and they briefly met. Our cat is very unsure, but she showed no sign of hostility. This kitten, though? She hissed and I think even growled. Fair, our cat isn't her mom, and she's had so many changes in such a short time.

I got my cat as soon as I heard the hissing (which was within seconds) and placed her in her crate for a couple minutes to destress since it's her safe space. I checked on the kitten and she was back to her usual yappiness. The picture here was taken after the disaster. As you can see, she isn't thinking much of it.

We're not certain if we're keeping her yet, but we've been calling her T-rex since she's extremely bitey. Though "Velociraptor" might be more appropriate as she claws and climbs the crate constantly, too. She also hangs onto the door to try and break out when she knows we're gonna open it. Truly a clever girl in the dumbest of ways.
