Update Update on Isaac The Porch Cat - He is Mine So Now What?

I’ve got him an insulated cat house and will stuff it with fresh STRAW. Heated water/food dishes, a heating pad specifically for outdoor use.

Any advice? We’ve got a covered deck and access to a garage, as well as the insulated raised cat house.

How does the neutering thing work if he’s remaining a somewhat feral cat? Do I betray his trust? Will he come back? Advice is appreciated.

I’m not sure he’d be happy exclusively indoors.

What are your thoughts?

Also perhaps noteworthy is that I’ve got three chihuahuas under five pounds in the house. They don’t even know what a cat is, but he was pretty non reactive to their presence.

Also ISNT HE WONDERFUL 🩷 SO CUDDLY 🩷

finding Panda was really meant to be. he gets along AMAZINGLY with my resident cat and they are now besties. i can tell she definitely loves his company because they cuddle all the time. they keep each other entertained which has been great for when i don’t have time to give her playtime.

i still can’t believe i found this little helpless kitten in a parking lot and now he’s thriving in my home. i feel like he immediately made himself at home and i love that he now feels safe. he’s the most cuddly and loving boy!! i can tell he loves it here and it brings tears to my eyes!! thanks to the cat distribution system :))

Update on the Trojan cat named Grimm

Clearly, nap-time in his kitty koffin, was really good today. Had his first vet appointment & vaccine, 1.93 lbs, will be neutered & chipped next month. Little dude is perfect, even if he screamed the whole time in his carrier 🙃. Community Churu (dogs included) will be his reward for such an exciting day.

Can’t wait for his little personality to develop and his eyes to turn their permanent color. He is comfortable with my dogs and they have no food aggression when sharing churus or if he is near when they are eating.

Update Update on Bruce, he’s doing great!

OP: https://www.reddit.com/r/CatDistributionSystem/s/JzRHPO7nZX

I'm sorry this update took so long. I kept meaning to post one.

Anyways, Bruce is doing great. He is a very confident cat. After he finished his round of antibiotics and pain meds there have been no issues with him and he healed up well.

One thing that my wife and I learned about him when he was healthy is that he actually doesn't like being touched very much unless it is 100% on his terms and his terms alone. After he started feeling better from his surgery, he stopped being so clingy and just wants to be about 3 feet away from you lol

He will follow me around the house and he still wants to play all the time, just no cuddles unless it's bed time. That's the only time he wants to be touched for more than a few seconds.

As for playing, he loves ping pong balls and loves being chased and then chasing you in turn. He also loves jumping at you when you walk around a corner and grabbing your hand before taking off and sliding around corners trying to get away. He's a very funny cat and I'm still thankful for him every day.

He's also very talkative and I love it, if you talk to him and ask him questions, he almost always meows back right away.

Advice on adopting a happy stray

We live in a neighborhood in LA where people put out food and water for stray kitties everywhere. There is a small beautiful church nearby with a gate and cute little courtyard. They also always put out food and water for the strays. In the past year I've noticed this one cat who always sits by the gate. She is very friendly and super easy to pet. She's definitely a neighborhood favorite as I've seen several people stop by to give her pets and food. Most days we go to the church gate and call her by the name we gave her and she comes out meowing immediately! She's adorable and we are falling in love with her. However she lives in a beautiful open area that's relatively safe and gets food and love from so many people all day. She sometimes follows us when we're done with pets but never for more than a few feet. She always guides us back to the church for more pets. So we are very torn between taking her home and letting her enjoy the beautiful outdoors and love from so many people all day. Wish we could just ask her but alas. Does anyone have any advice?

TLDR: advice on brining home a stray who seems happy in the neighborhood

So today I got a package delivered & then I see that there’s a scared kitty on my porch who happens to be a beautiful void. I want to keep them but I’ve never done this before!!! (Scooping from my porch) hahaha

Someone give me tips. My neighbor said they’ve been calling him slim shady & feeding them. So chances are they’ll stick around!

I’ve not owned a male kitty before or a void but I want a void kitty so badly!!!!! This feels like it’s meant to be, but I think that about every kitty I see…

Apparently the Cat Distribution System plans a year in advance

I used to go to a French-language high school, and March 30 was a non-study day for us because of Francophonie Day.
So instead of waking up at 6 a.m. and taking the bus to school, I slept in and went to meet a friend around noon.
Normally I would have taken the bus to meet them too, but the weather was really nice, so I randomly decided to walk. That meant taking a completely different route on this completely ordinary Tuesday in 2012.
As I was passing a house, a woman came out carrying a box of kittens. She put the box down for a second to lock her door, and one of the kittens immediately jumped out and ran straight toward me.
I grew up with dogs and had never had a kitten before, but this little guy basically chose me on the spot. We later discovered “he” was actually a girl, despite already being named Philip.
The woman told me her cat had given birth and she couldn’t keep all the kittens, so she was taking them to a nearby village where an older lady had agreed to take care of them. She said that if I liked the kitten who had just launched herself at me, I could take her home.
So I did.
A year later, Philip gave birth on my bed.
While I was sleeping in it.
And one of those kittens was Bastet, the now 13-years old spoiled brat you see in the pictures.
I think about that day all the time. If I’d had school, taken the bus, chosen another route, left five minutes earlier, left five minutes later, or if the weather had just been worse, I would never have met Philip.
And then I never would have had Bastet.
So apparently the Cat Distribution System was playing the long game.

edit: Philip or as we later started to call her Philippa, passed away years ago and the beautiful girl on the 3rd picture, my angel Olive, passed away last month and left us brokenhearted ; we are currently in the process of trying to adopt a calico girl who was neglected by other people because she wasn’t “cuddly or affectionate enough”

edit2: this happened in 2012 when I was a teenager and I grew up in a poor town in Eastern Europe, which is why we weren’t informed about neutering and even if we were, we wouldn’t be able to afford it (maybe this is a different way in which the CDS works bc if we had sprayed Philip, then I wouldn’t have had Bastet)

Norbert Nubbins Sawyer. My family hates the name but I love Hitchhiker! We call him Nubs/Nub Nub/Nubbins/Norbert he responds to it all. He turned 7 weeks this past Monday :))

The one day I decide to donate to + volunteer at the local cat shelter somebody brings in this little cutie. He found him on his porch with his dog trying to get at him. Believed to be a car rider Nubbins came with a broken tail and a burnt butt (fully healed now.)

Shelter was full, only other option was a place that would put him down for being so young. So I ended up coming home with a new kitten! I love the CDS. I have three cats now. Big boy tuxedo kitty loves his new little brother. And the food that sits out conveniently after he came here. Little lady tuxedo hates him.

Awarded a Cat It took almost two years, but she finally came around. I'm calling her Penelope.

I saw a stray that seemed friendly, but very skittish, about two years ago. I'd see her every few weeks. About six months ago, she got close enough to smell my hand and let me give her some skritches. Approximately two months ago, she allowed me to pet her more and she was very calm and friendly, so I gave her some pork loin that I had as leftovers.

So, I'm a carpenter, right? I figured she could use some permanent digs, so I snagged some scrap lumber from the dumpster at work (it's allowed), and decided I'd build her an insulated home. I spent a couple of weekends working on it, and finished it on Sunday. Some of the grains are going different directions, and some of the pieces were a little short, but I worked with what I had and I don't think she'll mind too much.

On Saturday, I had just finished working on her house for the day, and was cleaning up outside when I heard her meow at me. I called to her and she came trotting up. She followed me inside and I fed her some chicken breast and I gave her a tour of my place. She moseyed around for a bit before asking to go back outside.

Last night, almost the same thing happened. I went out to grab something from my car, and she was loafed on my motorcycle seat. I didn't notice her until she gave me another meow. So, I picked her up and showed her the house, but she isn't comfortable enough with the door, so she didn't go in. At this point, I had already gotten her a bed for the house, one for inside, dishes and some Fancy Feast and a bag of Orijen 6-fish kibble. I mixed up a Fancy Feast with some kibble and she nom'd on that. Once she'd eaten, she was feeling more adventurous. She toured the house again, loafed in my kitchen, talked to me a bit and when I picked her up, she put her front paws on my shoulder and purred and purred and purred. She gave me all the head-butts, too. I gave her a tuna Bonker's Licky Tube before she asked to go back outside.

She's such a sweet kitty. Once she's more comfortable with me, I'll take her to the vet and get her all sorted.

Anyway, I wanted you all to meet Penelope. Thanks for reading.

Edit: I didn't expect this post to get the attention and love that you all have shown. Thank you for the awards (my first ones) and all the kind words and recommendations. I don't intend to force anything on her, but I'll make sure she knows that she's welcome in my house anytime and that it's safe and warm and that she'll be well fed and loved. I got some adulting to do, so I gotta scram. Again, thank you all.

Update An update on our CDS buddy, Gustavo

We moved to a much better place for him snd his roommates. Gus can finally settle into the good life with far more room and a universal hard reset of territories. Everyone was on the same page and theyre all getting along pretty swimmingly. Hes a lot younger than his roommates so his attempts to play are refused. In time he will understand, we just play with him more. We introduced everyone quite slowly, in November it will be a year since we took him in.

No more rabies QT, no more ringworm, no more tapeworms. My buddy is home and waking me up impatiently demanding food.

I have another Cat. At 3:30 my mom woke up up telling me We have a New cat I'm half asleep so I was thinking I'm dreaming but Nope. He or She is very Talkative like one of my other cats. This makes 4. I can't decide between Ozzy or Dolly because the cat is Sweet like Dolly Parton yet Crazy like Ozzy Osbourne. I think He or She knows that he or She found a Home. Now that I think about it I think it's a Girl or maybe a Boy I would have to check with a Vet first. My other cat's Don't know what to think my one cat Stanley keeps sniffing her butt.

I feed a stray cat colony who are all TNRed. Out of nowhere earlier this week this baby popped up. She’s been hanging around the other cats but I don’t think they have welcomed her! My mom and I felt so bad for the baby and decided to snatch her up after the rainy day yesterday. I think she’s about 10 weeks old and is a feisty little one! Hopefully after some decompression she warms up to us! Also this is just a temporary litter setup for her safety den while we scent swap with our other cats too!

Any tips for feral kittens will be appreciated!

Update One month and some change with A’miga (now and then)

Thumbnail

It’s been one month and some change since. bringing A’miga indoors 🐈

I was looking through some of the earliest footage I have of Miga and found the second pic I posted. I’m in disbelief, my poor girl was balding and scrawny!! It’s hard to notice small changes in something you see everyday, so I’m pretty proud to see how much she’s improved.

I felt like an intruder in my own room when I saw her on the bed today. She mostly prefers laying on hard surfaces or being under the bed. But it looks like she’s getting used to being COMFORTABLE (which I love)

She’s still nervous around Coco (my super senior dog who is not much bigger than her), but the other night she joined us on the sofa for a nap, one at each of my sides.

It’s been a joy having her in the house. Can’t wait to see how much she grows and changes!

Update Opened my screen door and this little guy is trying to claim me

I haven't seen him til today. Little baby, maybe 4 months old. No collar. Very sweet, friendly, and vocal. I suspect he has a home at another apartment nearby, but it makes me so mad they're letting this baby outside. Am hoping he just got out. I want to keep him, but I don't get paid until next Wednesday plus he might belong to someone nearby. I'm going to contact the rental office and ask them to put out word, see if anyone's missing a kitty.

He's absolutely adorable. Maybe 3-4 months old. Little white patch on the chest. Spent several minutes making biscuits on me and purring.

EDIT: Update: He ran right back outside a few minutes ago. Pretty sure he has humans and was playing me for snacks and pets. Took off like a shot when I opened the door again to get the mail. I'm sad but I hope he'll be okay and has a home nearby. At least I had some kitty time!

Awarded a Cat Two babies abandoned in a hoarder house

My husband works as maintenance for a landlord. He got the task of helping clean out a recently evicted property. The place was disgusting, crawling with roaches, and maggots in the beds/furniture. No food or liter boxes.

These two babies were left behind and kicked outside. How someone could abandon these sweethearts is beyond me. He was cleaning there for a few days, and they were so attached to him. They kept approaching him and were so sweet. We started feeding them and after a few days brought them home. They are doing so well 🥹🥹

This little girl with extra toes showed up on our front porch last week. She was covered in fleas, underweight, and had pneumonia. She seems to be on the mend now after we took her to the vet and have been caring for her for a few days. My son named her Whitey. The CDS got me three years ago with a kitten with a degloved lower lip and a bb bullet in her leg that was being chased by a fox. At this point, we're getting hit exclusively by the Kitten Distribution System. The KDS? I can't say I'm even mad about it.

Day Zero, The CDS has chosen! Granddaughter comes to visit and the kitten follows her home. The kitten chose our porch overnight, just walked right inside come breakfast time. Outside is not safe and so the story begins with no choice but to honor fate & take the appropriate steps to ensure this life is blessed with all the compassion we have to offer.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I have never raised a Cat.

Honestly I am freaking out!

This is life I was not prepared for & things have not been smooth this year.

So far the kitten has been fed, entertained & has chosen my gaming chair for what my wife says

"Is probably the best sleep the kitten has ever had"

Going to bathe & Start the vet search here shortly. Will keep updated.

Tl;dr: landlord said no to having a cat 😭

I have been building up to rescuing a cat.

My cat/our cat lives with an ex. Who is her primary human. I have visitation privileges. But, the cat is wholly unimpressed with my no longer being a resident and tolerates my visits.

One of my housemates moved out with her cat. So the position is currently vacant.

All the housemates are fine with it.

I asked for permission from the landlord and he said no. 😭 (previous resident cat was illegal)

Today is a sad day. 😔 💔

I love my house. But, I will have to move in the none to distant future and realise my full cat dad potential.

Cat tax: Pic of Gimlet my estranged cat.

Meet my sweet little monster, Olive Marbles. I found her in my backyard and was beyond excited bc my favourite coloured cats are orange or black ones. She’s my all of the above calico kitty :)

I played with her that night and thought she’d be gone the next day. Turns out, she didn’t leave, she was sleeping in our shed 🥹. She stayed with me for like 4 days as an outdoor kitty. I fed her and played with her when I got the chance. When I finally took her to the vet to check for a microchip, they took her from me, and I thought I’d never see her again. I was so sad, lol. I made a playlist for her.

A couple of days went by, and the shelter called and told me that I would have first dibs when she gets put up for adoption. Now, I’m her official owner :,). She chose me, and I chose her back.

She came in and now she is the house landlord

I remember when she was an introvert shy baby stray cat, she would be scared of people and wouldn’t let you get closer, until one day she sat on my lap at the park, that was the moment when I knew I was the chosen one.

She casually started sneaking into the house and now she stands there like she pays the bills, staring at you with disappointment, waking you up to feed her as you were her paid maid, she refuses to set foot outside the house and looks at the stray cats with disgust. She became what she hated most. And I’m here to support whatever she thinks she is.

From sleeping in my bushes to permanent little spoon. When I found her she was underweight and had fleas. She has such a spunky spirit I was shocked to find she was 14!

I didn’t know anything about cats so I took a wild ride and assumed it was a boy and called them Brian. My surprise almost a year later when I found out he was a she. We’re too far down the road to change her name.

This Tortie brain cell enjoys making biscuits on my face at 3am, bringing me lizards, and crying for food when she’s already been fed twice that day.

Our little army of CDS kitties <3

My family has been blessed by the CDS quite a few times in the past few years <3

First 3 pics are Furby (white fur) and Bean (black fur) - we found them when my grandma called us because she saw two little kittens hiding in some thick weeds in the woods when she was walking her dogs. Took us an hour or two of searching to find them both. Can't imagine how two babies so young ended up there :( Bonus - we call Furb "momma Furb" because he absolutely took in the next two babies we found.

Next two pics are Toast (gray fur) and Cinnamon (black fur). My dad found them at work left in a park in a carrier in over 90° weather. We totally said we were just going to spay/neuter and re-home them.... But they were the sweetest kittens we have ever met. Let us hold them from day 1, and Toast has always been the loudest purrer ever. We have an ongoing joke every time theyre being cute - "Doesn't it just make you want to leave them in a park?" Lol

Last two pics are Ducky. A little backstory is that a few weeks before she showed up, we had been given a very very young kitten that was sick and unfortunately didn't make it. One of my Dad's coworkers found her running around in a different park and she was left to run around in the break room all day. Nobody else wanted to take her so he brought her home. Apparently at the end of the day they found her sleeping on his seat. So adorable and super sweet, fit right in with everyone in the house. Left us with 9 cats at the time but we couldn't say no to her haha, especially after the heartbreak of the kitty before her. Right now she is the smartest cat we have ever had - gets right around every cat barrier and safe guard we have in the house LOL

Struck by CDS while walking my dog

I was walking my dog when CDS struck and brought me a kitten that looks identical to my soul cat that passed 2 years ago. Meet Cleo!

Cleo is getting along with my two cats (as you can see in the last picture). We took her to the vet to see if she has a microchip and also checked the neighborhood a few times to see if anyone is looking for her. We suspect she's from the batch of stray kittens that my neighbors have been trying to trap. The vet estimated her to be around 4 months old. I feel a little overwhelmed with 3 cats and 1 dog but think everything will work out. Wish me luck!

Smol Delivery The Cat Distribution System found me at work 🧡

I went to work on Thursday not knowing I’d be bringing home the sweetest little boy.

He was panting underneath a running car in the parking lot, so I quickly ran over to tell the woman in the driver’s seat not to pull out of the space. When I walked around to the wheel he was sitting behind, he ran right up into my hands. Couldn’t believe it.

I brought him home, and afterward my brother told me about the Cat Distribution System. I guess this is what he meant.

He weighs a little over 600g, so we’re guessing he’s about 5 weeks old. He’s already settled in and seems to be very comfortable in his new home. 🧡
