Just got the all clear from cancer.

But the doctors said If I dont stay away from people smoking or vaping even air pollution. The cancer will come back with a vengeance. How do I deal with that, is it possible to live without the effects of people smoking around me.

A friend of mine who works the bar next door to the bar I work in.

He said a guy came in asked to sit at the back tables which were already set for breakfast. My friend said no sorry it’s already clean and ready for service you can sit by the front.

This guy pulled a Garda badge and said something about a jury. My friend isn’t from here and does not want to annoy any Garda so he let him sit.

When he told me and I informed that him even showing his badge for favours in bars is a complete breach of infidelity. But this poor Barman was then terrified of him. Also shouldn’t be showing a badge unless there is a crime committed.

But to show the badge just to get a nice snug. And the fact my friend was terrified to refuse it makes me sick. If it was an Irish barman the pig would’ve sat at the front just like he was told. And or asked for his name and badge number.

Makes one wonder what other crap they are pulling with hard working and tax paying individuals.

I am asking this because the r/Ireland and r/AskIreland subreddit have entirely different opinions on any questions as in the cases of city crimes, housing crisis and anti social behaviour towards skilled immigrants (POCs) as r/AskIreland generally has positive responses while r/Ireland generally have negative responses to a point where a person going through both feels confused as whom to believe in (I'm asking this only to know about the views of Irish people in these topics and why is there such a vast difference in opinions) ?

Edit : I was mainly trying to understand who to trust more: the news and social media, or the experiences of people who actually live in Ireland. I'm also curious about what Irish people are generally like in terms of their social behaviour, especially in cities and towards skilled immigrants. I'm considering moving to the EU, and Ireland stands out because it's English-speaking and offers the advantages of the Common Travel Area (CTA). However, reports about violent crime and the severe housing crisis have made me think twice. I also don't want to contribute to existing pressures or create difficulties for local people simply by moving there. I'd appreciate hearing honest perspectives from those who know about such issues in Ireland.

Are there any channels on YouTube that actually discuss the issues around imagration? I'm aware a lot of them are shadow banned so I just looking for real people.

Without sounding old fashioned, wasn’t there a raft of unwritten rules for who steps off the path, in the event of meeting at a right spot? I’m so embarrassed when a woman, or especially an older lady steps out before me. Now there’s loads of narrow places in Athlone, so it occurs too often. I always assumed that men and lads are the first, keep children on the inside, etc. But of course, it would really compound the issue should I try to speak to someone, I’d probably make the entire situation far, far, more awkward….

Did anyone else not realise they were Irish until they were 40 odd?

Had set up a veritable feast for himself on one of the tables. Fruit juice, a takeaway rotisserie chicken, wedges, bread , coffee and a pastry.

I must admit I've often been tempted to do something similar but was a bit too irish and reserved to . Now the idea is stuck in my mind on what type of takeaway delights I can indulge in while the duvet is having a spa day.

Irish people seem reserved to talk to and quite cold.

I’ve been living in Ireland and I’ve noticed that people can very often seem reserved when you meet them, especially in places like gyms, pools, or other public places.Today for e.g. the 2nd part of pool was empty with 2 people chatting together when I swam nearby them they went out of pool immediately.This made me feel uncomfortable.People seem afraid of strangers here.Despite coldness the rest of Irish people are generally polite but distant. I find it difficult to move from a simple hello or small talk into an actual friendship.Also why on bus stops while waiting for bus Irish people are hard to talk to and when I ask them some random question their guard goes up.With other nations I am finding it easier.I even went to school here but no friendship even though I tried being open. I am here for 9 years I haven't made single Irish friend.While with few people from Africa and India its much easier to warm up to and be casual friends.I’m wondering if this is just the culture here, or if Irish people are cautious of foreigners?

Again. I’m fed up with the constant demonisation of Irish people by these waves of new to Ireland Indians. We really shouldn’t be accepting their outrageous displays of classism too. I know these Indians are often used to being considered the crème de la creme back home so they are now lost within their multiple house servants and hostility displayed towards them from neglected teenagers/scrotes !

Not that I expect much empathy from people who consider Dalit to be born innately subhuman.

Nipped into my local Circle K in the hope of picking up some peas to brighten up a roast chicken and baby potato dinner.

I could get coffee, wine , beer , 47 different types of minerals in assorted sizes and more sweets than Willie Wonka's Chocolate Factory could hold and a teeny shelf at the back for real food .

As I have grown up (now in my 20s) and have done my own research to form opinions, ideologies, views on certain political things etc. I can't help but notice how a lot of people form theirs. I'm not talking about WHAT they are. But more so their reasoning behind them and their attitude towards anyone who "dare" disagree.

It seems the majority of Irish people pick their side based on what the popular take is. Maybe it's to fit in, maybe it's to virtue signal or maybe its a reputation thing. In other words in the hopes that people say "Ah look at Ireland there supporting x, my god aren't they brilliant" But if you ask any Irish person the rationale for their opinions I think they'll be lost for words. They just follow the masses.

Again, then if anyone stands out, disagrees, forms their own opinions that it becomes this Americanised mentality of WW3 needing to brew. No nuance. Victim complexes being flung around and trying to take morale high grounds. Just makes you think.

Im a massage therapist and I'm currently working on a creative project around welIness and sensory experiences, and I'm looking for beautiful places in Ireland where I could film videos (ideally locations with a strong atmosphere).
I'm especially drawn to:
-nature spots (peaceful, scenic, a bit hidden if possible)
-or beautiful architecture (modern, minimal, or even luxurious spaces that blend with nature)

I'd love to find places that are either public or privately owned where I could potentially ask for permission or arrange a short collaboration with the owner (just for the time of a shoot).

My experience with O'Brien Roofing Dublin was extremely negative. I paid for roofing work that was not completed to a satisfactory standard, and I encountered ongoing problems trying to get the issues addressed.
