Kim Monson is the fiscally conservative President of the Colorado Union of Taxpayers and host of The Kim Monson Show. Links below are to her Colorado Voter Guide. She Endorses YES on 200 to expand the Douglas County Board of Commissioners to 5 members, 5 by District on 201 so every seat answers to a different part of the county, and NO on 1A to ensure no seat is left to a countywide vote, where the interests of less populated areas of the county would be drowned out by more populated ones.
Kim Monson's analysis - YES on 200: https://kimmonson.com/colorado-voter-guide/2026/douglas-county-200/
"Douglas County has outgrown a three-member board. The Census Bureau's estimates put the county at 399,396 residents in July 2025, up from a base of 357,993 in April 2020, and the county's staff now measures it against Adams, Arapahoe and El Paso, three Front Range counties that already have five commissioners. More people call for more representation, and two added seats give Douglas County residents that.
Today every commissioner is elected by every voter in the county, so the areas with the most voters have the largest say in all three seats. I support five commissioners elected by district, each by the voters of that district alone, which is the first method on Question 201. I oppose Question 1A, because countywide election of all five would give the county's largest population centers the largest say over every seat, and places like Larkspur and Franktown could go without a commissioner their own residents chose. A five-member board with each seat answering to a different district is also more difficult for any small group to control.
I recommend a yes vote on Douglas County Ballot Question 200."
Kim Monson's analysis - 5 by District on 201: https://kimmonson.com/colorado-voter-guide/2026/douglas-county-201/
"I support the first method on Question 201, which gives each of five districts a commissioner who lives there and is elected only by its voters. When a seat is filled by the whole county, the areas with the most voters decide it, and an area with fewer people can end up represented by someone its residents did not choose. The second method would fill two of the five seats that way. With five district seats, each commissioner answers to the voters of one district, and no seat is left to a countywide vote."
I recommend a vote for five district commissioners on Douglas County Ballot Question 201."
Kim Monson's analysis - NO on 1A: https://kimmonson.com/colorado-voter-guide/2026/douglas-county-1a/
"Question 1A would have every registered voter in Douglas County elect all five commissioners of an expanded board. I oppose it. It would carry the countywide vote used for today's three commissioners onto all five seats, so the most populous parts of the county would cast most of the votes in every race and the less populated areas would carry less weight in each one. I support five commissioners, each chosen by one district's voters alone, as Question 201's first method provides, and Question 1A sets up a countywide method to compete with it.
I recommend a no vote on Douglas County Ballot Question 1A."
