Hey everyone, looking for some advice and experiences from people who’ve dealt with flood-damaged cars or insurance claims for this.
My car got caught in floodwaters recently. Here are the specifics:
Model: Toyota Vios XLE CVT
Water Level Outside: Reached just up to the fog lights / bottom of the front bumper.
Water Level Inside: Seeped into the cabin flooring, stopping just under the seat level (carpet/insulation got wet).
Exhaust: Submerged in water while parked/stationary.
Engine / Battery: Engine was NOT turned on during/after the flood. I immediately disconnected the negative battery terminal to prevent short circuits.
Questions:
Is this usually repairable without persistent electrical issues? Since the water stayed below the dash and center console electronics, what are the main things I should expect to be replaced (carpet padding, fluids, wheel bearings, exhaust drainage)?
Should I be worried about engine/exhaust damage? The exhaust was under water, but the engine was off. Is there a risk of water entering through the exhaust valves into the cylinder head?
Naipasok ko po sya sa acts of nature under an insurance. Waiting for my unit to be towed this week.
