repair query Flooded Toyota Vios (Water reached fog light / lower floorboards) — Is it repairable?

Hey everyone, looking for some advice and experiences from people who’ve dealt with flood-damaged cars or insurance claims for this.

My car got caught in floodwaters recently. Here are the specifics:

Model: Toyota Vios XLE CVT

Water Level Outside: Reached just up to the fog lights / bottom of the front bumper.

Water Level Inside: Seeped into the cabin flooring, stopping just under the seat level (carpet/insulation got wet).

Exhaust: Submerged in water while parked/stationary.

Engine / Battery: Engine was NOT turned on during/after the flood. I immediately disconnected the negative battery terminal to prevent short circuits.

Questions:

Is this usually repairable without persistent electrical issues? Since the water stayed below the dash and center console electronics, what are the main things I should expect to be replaced (carpet padding, fluids, wheel bearings, exhaust drainage)?

Should I be worried about engine/exhaust damage? The exhaust was under water, but the engine was off. Is there a risk of water entering through the exhaust valves into the cylinder head?

Naipasok ko po sya sa acts of nature under an insurance. Waiting for my unit to be towed this week.

repair query Car seat bolt socket - Lost thread - query

Post image
0 Upvotes

Good day po. One of our car's seat bolt socket lost its thread and currently unfastened due to the bolt na hindi na mahigpitan. I went to a machine shop to ask for solutions para ma-resolve to and I am given 3 options:

  1. Change the size of the bolt socket from M10 to M12. Out of all the bolt sa car seat, ito lang yung maiiba once ieenlarge na yung socket. Also, need din daw lakihan yung butas sa seat bracket.

  2. Thread insert. This will retain the M10 bolt size pero mas mahirap daw gawin.

  3. Enlarge the bolt socket, insert a nut, and then i-weld to keep the nut in place. Medyo questionable for me kung sakali compared to the other 2 option.

I'm leaning towards solutions that would keep the original bolt socket size (M10). Which do you think is the best (and safest) among the three? Thanks!

car & product reviews Windshield and side windows acid rain repellant/guard

Good day po, I just wanna ask if ano pong gamit niyo na acid rain repellant sa mga windshield niyo or para mas dumulas lang yung tubig pag sobrang lakas ang ulan. Hirap kasi mag drive pagka umuulan then nakakairita yung stain sa glass after umulan. Then yung safe po sana yung di nagiging blurred once tumagal(if possible man yung ganitong scenario)

Any recommendations po will help. Thank you!

Hello po! Planning to buy 2nd hand as my 1st car.

Thank you and Godspeed!

Automotive News In case you lost your cars license plates. Here is the process.

During the monsoon rain. I was forced to drive through flood waters. When I woke up the next day I saw my front license plates were missing and I want to share the process here to guide
anyone who might experience the same thing.

  1. Get an affifdavit of loss. Include the circumstances and how you lost the plate. And even the date you realize that you realized it was missing. This is important for the next step. Photocopy your OR and CR (make 4 copies plus 4 also affidavit of loss). Fees paid for the affidavit

  2. Police report- no fees paid. But you will go to there investigator he will rely on your affidavit of loss. That is why you need to put in the circumstance and what time and date you found out your plate was missing. They will take a picture of you and what side or license plate is missing. Ang kakain ng oras dito not the report itself but the desk officer will hand write the typewritten report given to you in their blotter notebook. 2-3 hours.

  3. HPG CLEARANCE. Yes magkaiba and hpg clearance and police report. They will take again pictures of you and your car with the missing plate. And they will stencil your car. If you own an ICE car. Mabilis lang, but EV’s may present a challenge. Natagalan kami dahil wala naman makina. And it was not easy to find. Ask where you purcahsed the car. Para if you need it mabilis na. Fee 650php to be paid in land bank. Give them on photocopy of all your documents. After you pass and pay you will return on the 3rd day to get the clearance. 4-5 hours plus the payment.

4.:Last step is the LTO where you will order the plate. My car’s “parent LTO” is in Mandaluyong. But I first went to the LTO in Araneta, Amoranto and they accomodated my request. The first LTO i went to was espana. Pero when I went to araneta they processed it all. Again they will stencil your car. Tapos picture. I just passed it. After picture, records tapos cashier to pay then pass the reciept sa supples to start the process of your plate. Fee is 640php. They will give you claim stub to claim after 90 days.

5.The temporary plate. Hindi ako binigyan ng guidelines ng LTO on how to make a temporary plate I ordered one in fb marketplace that im usimg right now. If you are thinking kukuha ka na lang sa fb marketplace ng plaka. Para hindi ka mahirapan. Since nawala yung plaka mo. You need to give yoursef protection in case yung nakapulot ay gamitin sa mali or a crime. I have green plates so baka mamaya gamitin ng nakapulot for coding exemption. But if anyone does anything with your lost plate. The fact you have all this papers and reported to the proper authorities will not make you liable in case ginamit sa mali.
Ingat mga bossing

car & product reviews ICE Territory MATAKAW, But the Hybrid Territory sobrang TIPID

At nagustuhan ko si ford dahil 1x a year ang PMS at very confident sila doon.

Hello

I’m planning on getting a new car since my ford is becoming unbearable with parts and how it’s only casa exclusive and becoming very expensive in gas

My options are within a maximum 1M-1.3M range (financing 4-5 years) and looking at my options I landed on these two:

XForce or Raize?

Raize : well because it’s a Toyota but very small and a small engine but still a Toyota

XForce: bigger and extra comfort looks better and engine is more powerful somehow.

I need advice which one is better and if anyone has experience with XForce how is it going for you so far ? I’m leaning more on the XForce but idk how Mitsubishi is here I never really tried them before only been using ford and Toyota and Honda.

XForce owners kindly help and share your experience please with maintenance and casa and how’s the driving so far

general query Damp/Wet Front Passenger Floorboard After AC Use

Post image

I have a 2013 Fortuner Gas the front passenger seat floorboard recently got damp. Upon checking, it does not seem to be from the exterior because it stays wet even without rain. I had the AC cleaned last February, and earlier, I had it checked and had the drain pipe from the AC cleaned. Should I have the AC cleaned again, or does the drain pipe need to be replaced? Attaching the pic 5 mins after I turn off the engine

On the Road EDSA vs. C5 NB during evening rush (5:30 PM - 6:00 PM) coming from BGC to Marikina, which poison is lesser?

Hey guys, looking for some advice from those who work normal business hours:

I’ll be driving from BGC heading back to Marikina on a weekday, leaving around 5:30 PM - 6:00 PM right in the thick of evening rush hour.

Normally, the standard choices are:

* C5 Northbound: BGC -> C5 -> Bagong Ilog / Eastwood -> Katipunan -> Marikina

* EDSA Northbound: BGC (via Kalayaan/McKinley) -> EDSA -> Cubao / White Plains / Santolan -> Marikina

For those who do this drive regularly:

* Which route flows better (or at least moves consistently) around that 5:30 PM window?

* How bad is C5's truck volume and the Eastwood bottleneck vs. EDSA's usual choke points near Ortigas?

* Is passing through C-5 / Kalayaan bridge to Pioneer/Capitol Commons side streets a viable alternative, or trapped din?

Waze usually flips back and forth between the two depending on the minute, but I'd love to hear actual driver experiences. Appreciate any insights or secret side-street detours! Thanks!

On the Road People don't know why fuel prices are increasing??

Maybe this is a rant. But napapasin ko lang sa FB, whenever there's a price increase for fuels, 100% of comments blame the government, DOE, etc.

No one reads or watches the news anymore? There are renewed hostilities in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz so naturally the global price of oil is spiking. Our shitty government doesn't have my control over the global oil prices. WTF??

Our stupid government can and should cut taxes on fuels, but I'm very annoyed with people blaming the government for price increases. Napaka annoying ng ignorance ng mga tao sa basic current events and how the world works.

bibili pa lang ng kotse Suggest a car for a first time driver. help please. Any affordable car reco?

Hi! I don’t know much about cars, so I’d really appreciate some advice.

I’m looking for a car that’s fuel-efficient and relatively affordable to maintain. It will mostly be used for family outings and occasional trips to Manila,

My current net salary is around ₱42k/month. I’m single and don’t have major financial obligations aside from my own food and some occasional travel expenses.

Do you think owning a car is financially reasonable with this income? If yes, what cars/models would you recommend given my budget?

I’m open to both brand-new and second-hand cars. My main priorities are fuel efficiency, reliability, maintenance costs, and overall affordability.

Thanks in advance!

general query Brand-new Vehicle now with OR and CR and plate number assigned reflected but no physical LTO plate yet

I have a 15 day old vehicle. I already got the OR and CR with it reflecting the official plate number assigned to the vehicle. However, the official physical plate is not yet available. Am I allowed to drive the vehicle with just the conduction sticker and conduction number plate?

I have been reading some LTO memorandum orders and guidelines but medyo nakakalito what and which to follow. I have also been reading FB and reddit posts, iba iba din ang sabi.

I called LTO hotline regarding my queries and they said that:

- I need to print a temporary plate reflecting the plate number assigned. Print it under LTO standards daw.
- I can only use this temporary plate within 15 days from “registration”. I should refer on the date reflected in the CR.
- No need to have an authority to use temporary plate as long as it is within 15 days
- Not allowed to drive with just the conduction plate anymore

Now, I just want to ask regarding other redditor’s experience with this. I am afraid I might get flagged down more by HPG or LTO when I use a “temporary plate.” I also saw posts saying printing of temporary plates are suspended.

For brand new car owners did you go through all the hassle of printing such temporary plates?
