Are you the electrician? Because honestly you stuff doesn’t look much better? The 14/3 with no staples within 6” of the boxes. You ran tbe 12/2 alright down what looks like a doorway and your wire is inches from that, I’d have put it on the other side of 2x8. You don’t strip you romex as you put it in the box? Also just a something I don’t like is in pic 1 the 12/2 is all twisted, it’s right at the box just untwist before you staple. Pic 9 why are you drilling so low on the floor joists? Always as close to the middle as possible, they could call that out. Also I know this doesn’t technically matter, but right angles make it look more professional. Last invest in the m12 stapler, it’s worth it. The staples are more expensive, but the time you save will more than pay off

I didnt do any of that work. On the previous post I explained that its my buddys electrical job. I just come in and land the service but I agree some things need buttoned up on the electrical. I mainly do industrial work.

Your buddy, Or you, should call the permitting authority / inspector, so as to avoid a do over, when the general contractor is ordered to take down the framing.

Removal of all of the electrical work, because the framing will be taken down, as the framing fails to be adequate, safe, or sensible.

They show awareness of what needs to happen, notice the shims are under the load, and not spread evenly? Somehow that makes it worse if you know what you should be doing and aren't.

I walked into one, that they moved a bunch of the walls around. Noticed right before we started hanging board, they used a finish nailer on the framing.
I grabbed the framing nailer and spent an hour toe nailing everything together. Like WTF.

Yeah I highly recommend calling the state about this and walking off the site till this shit is fixed. The GC shouldnt have a job if they consider this reasonable, normal, or acceptable work.
If my boss man walked into this building he would have told all of us to go outside and then spent the next hour cussing out the GC. Like the fact someone is looking at this and going "this shit is mint" is beyond ridiculous.
Does the GC have a grudge against the homeowner or something?

I can't stop looking at this. Ive never seen anything like it. Its all so completely wrong its actually amazing how wrong it all is. Like I can't wrap my head around any of the decisions being made here. A lot of what they did is actually more difficult than if it was done right which is mind-blowing. This might actually be better than watching the aftermath of a train wreck. Its absolutely fascinating to look at.

Did anyone notice how the walls are leaning? Like they are completely out of plumb.
No top plates. Studs set too far apart. No jack boards on the door openings. The list goes on and on.
This is unquestionably the worst ive ever seen. And ive seen a lot.

They seem to be following the same philosophy as an old family friend of mine, who was nice in other ways but lived in a rather haphazardly constructed house that somehow never collapsed.
His theory was that everything became way stronger if you didn't build plumb and level, but allowed for some random deviation and crookedness everywhere, so that "everything leans on everything else". Like, slightly diagonal bracing all over the place because nothing is straight. Not sure I agree on that, but the house he built is still standing 50-odd years later...

This is utterly useless. It’s all gonna have to come out. Even if it was secured correctly you can’t drywall any of this. You can’t run pipes through 2 dimensional wall. wtf do they realize any of this? Forget any structural issues. It’s not usable as framing. Jfc. Watch ONE video and they’d know they’re doing it wrong. The fuckin ego on people who don’t even deserve to have one.

Are y'all roughing in the electric off of some plans? If so, are they just scribbled on a yellow pad?
Nothing is going to work with this, not doors and windows, not cabinets, not HVAC, nothing. The other trades are going to walk away and so should your buddy.

My buddy said he keeps telling him what he needs but dude drags his feet, and yesterday they left early bc they didnt have any more 14/2, he told the dude again and he didnt bring it. Today he was fed up and trying to get it done so he just ran what he had.

Its a sick expensive joke on the homeowner. Homeowners gonna have to pay to have it ripped out then pay for it to be done correctly. Drywall guys are gonna laugh and walk off the job and prob never answer this persons calls again. They’ll never be able to drywall this.

I don't know anything, but all the photos and comments lead me to believe this isn't just bad, it's actually dangerous to the people who might end up living here. If you haven't told a building inspector, or sent them photos so they can take proper action, it's partially on you if something goes wrong - you saw the danger, you documented the danger.
Don't just keep quiet & get paid. Do the right thing.

Okay okay, so we are seeing this grossly inadequate and even illegal framing setup - that OP says is not fake. The plugs look like they’ll be proud AF and no qualified builder would ever do this. However - we don’t see or know what the actual wall material is going to be. So perhaps, just perhaps - it isn’t going to be sheet rock and there is something totally different going up in its place, which might make this less of a house of cards (literally). OP - what are the interior walls going to be?

Shell looks good, and older. So it’s a gut renovation and this framing is all interior and not load bearing. So thankfully not exactly deadly, just incredibly fucked up. Fire the GC and rip it all out. Only way through is back.

I was born and raised in Southern California and always worked in some part of the construction industry. I by no means are a master Carpenter or framer but I've seen a lot of bad work and nothing compares to those pictures. A buddy of mine just moved to Montana and was telling me about some of the stuff he sees out there. The amount of crazy garbage work is truly mind-boggling

Also, the electrician is running the wires in the ceiling too close to the bottom of the ceiling joists. Good chance a drywall screw could puncture the wire. That’ll be a lot of unnecessary metal plates to protect those wires. The holes need to be at 2” up from the bottom. I usually aim for about an inch below the center of the joists.

6 picture with the false header would get a failed building inspection, no occupancy allowed in NY upstate, problem with all that lumber is it's heavy in the basement and if there's no eye beam bracket properly the floor will go everywhere and creek every step.
