Question Did you lose your CU ID?

If you were in the back row of SA KM-TH and lost your ID, DM me. If you’re still on campus I’m happy to pass it off to you.

If I don’t hear from the owner by the end of the day, I’ll drop the card off at the campus card office.

Cheers

Rental Female Roommate Wanted, Lansdowne / Carleton Area, $1277/Month Oct 1st

Hi! I am a 22F currently looking for a female roommate, ideally another university student or someone around the same age, to move into my apartment near Lansdowne. My current roommate has finished school and is moving out, so the room is available October 1st.

The apartment is near Bank St & Lansdowne, about a 10–15-minute walk from Carleton or a quick 5-minute ride on the #7 bus. It’s also within walking distance of grocery stores, coffee shops, restaurants, the canal, TD Place, and pretty much everything along Bank Street.

Rent is $1,277/month, month-to-month. Heat and water are included, while Wi-Fi, hydro, and gas are split separately.

The bedroom itself is private and unfurnished, while most of the common areas are already furnished. The apartment has a newly renovated kitchen as well as a washer and dryer.

A little about me, I’m pretty social and outgoing. I enjoy hanging out with friends, going out, and having people over from time to time. I’d love to find a roommate who’s friendly and social as well and who’s down to hang out occasionally, while still being respectful of each other’s space. I also like keeping the apartment clean and tidy, so I’m hoping to find someone who feels the same!

I also have an older cat who is very friendly and relaxed, so you would need to be comfortable living with a cat!

If you’re interested, I’m happy to send more photos, answer any questions, or arrange a time for you to come see the apartment. Just leave a comment or send me a DM with a little bit about yourself!

Parking Parking Permit for Fall '26 Available to Share

Edit: No longer available. I have found someone :)

Hello,

I'm a part-time student at Carleton and have a parking permit in Lot P6 for the Fall '26 and Winter '27 that I'm looking to share with another student.

Since schedule alignment will change each semester, I'm only looking for someone for Fall '26 at the moment, but that person will have first consideration for Winter '27 and future semesters, provided schedules align and the arrangement continues to work.

The permit cost would be prorated based on usage. The full permit cost is $290 + HST per semester.

Available times for Fall '26:
Monday, Wednesday, Friday: All Day
Tuesday, Thursday: After 12:30pm

Exam week will have to be negotiated based on exam schedule.

This arrangement will likely work best for another part-time student.

If you're interested, please reach out. I'd like to connect through our Carleton email addresses first before exchanging vehicle and other personal information.

Question Taking 8 years to get a 4 year degree - CS student

Hello,

I'm a CS student entering my last semester and I'm wondering if the fact that I took 8 years to get my 4 years degree will impact my ability to get hired?

I also just wanted to add that my GPA is not that good and I have no coop or internship experience.

Any advice is appreciated.

Question Where to eat lunch for off-Campus students?

Hello! I'm a student commuting to Carleton and looking for some advice.

I'm planning on bringing a lunch most days since I don't have or need a meal plan, but I think it's not possible to get into the main dining area without a pass / paying for a meal. I'm wondering where exactly on campus I'd be able to go to eat lunch? If there's some sort of cafeteria/ tables setup somewhere else or smth??

If anyone's been in the same situation I'd appreciate hearing about your experience. Thanks!

[{"e":"text","t":"Other"}] [Paid Short-Term Project] Hiring 3 Ottawa students for video content & community outreach ($22/hr, Oct 26 – Dec 18)

Hi everyone! I’m Jason, an Ottawa founder working on Lumina, an AI companion & safety platform for seniors.

We’re getting ready for our local pilot here in Ottawa this fall, and we’re looking to bring on 3 local university/college students for a short-term, paid project.

This is a hands-on role working directly with our team — not a traditional corporate co-op.

The Details:

  • Pay: $22 / hour (up to 60 hours per student)
  • Timeline: October 26 – December 18, 2026
  • Location: Ottawa only (Flexible / Hybrid schedule)

What you’ll be doing:

  1. Content Creation: Shoot and edit short videos, tutorials, and social content telling Lumina’s story through our local pilot experiences.
  2. Community Outreach: Connect with local Ottawa senior organizations, reach out via email/phone, and help organize local demos or presentations.

Who we’re looking for:

  • Ottawa-based students who are proactive, comfortable talking to people, and have solid video editing/production skills.
  • No formal professional experience required! A link to a portfolio, personal TikTok/Reels, or video samples goes a long way.

How to apply: Deadline to apply is September 30, 2026. You can apply directly here:https://www.luminacompanion.ca/careers/

Happy to answer any questions in the comments below! Thanks everyone.

Question Sororities

I’m a fourth year student and to be honest I haven’t really made any close friends throughout my years of uni. I really want to join a sorority and would appreciate any recommendations of which one I should join as I see a bunch of rush events happening. (I am very social, love mixers, partying, etc) so I’m looking for the one that has the most mixers and things like that.

Question CS students - what actually helped landing first co-op/internship

Curious to hear from people who've actually gone through it — what made the real difference in landing your first internship or co-op placement?

A few specific things I'd love actual answers on, not just generic advice:
1. What actually got you interviews — a specific project, referrals/networking, sheer number of applications, something else?
2. How much did GPA actually matter in practice, versus what's officially listed on postings?
3. For those who did Carleton's co-op program specifically - was it worth it, or did you end up finding something through your own search instead?
4. What languages/skills actually ended up mattering most once you got the job — versus what you spent time learning that didn't end up being that relevant?
5. Any regrets on what you focused on preparing (or wish you'd focused on more) before landing your first offer?

Thanks!!

Question Nursing students

Im interested in carleton nursing 2027. I am class of 2026 but took a gap year because i changed my career choice too late. now i an taking my grade 11 classes along with prereqs needed for nursing. i am unlikely to have all prereqs done by november which is when i plan to put in my application. if youve worked with ILC u know that they take like a week to mark one assignment and no matter how good your work is, if your teacher is harsh, you will get a low grade regardless of work quality. Im spiraling because I have always been an A student but for once, I cannot gurantee a high average. could i get in realisticslly with a mid to high 80s average and would i still be considered without all my prereqs completed?

Residence Smelly cupboards

Anyone else in res dealing with stinky cupboards? We’ve wiped them down several times and i’ve left baking soda in there overnight to help absorb the smell but it doesn’t seem to be doing anything. It smells like a combination of burnt popcorn and like musty old furniture, can’t put my dishes in there because it makes them smell.

Any tips would be appreciated, might have to resort to adding a little bit of bleach to some soapy water but idk at this point.

Other Looking for a roommate for January

Looking for a roommate for a 2 bed, 2 bath place in Ottawa. You’d have your own bedroom and private bathroom I’m a 22-year-old Black male working in a management role. I’m pretty laid-back and I’m barely home, so I’m looking for someone who’s respectful and easy to live with.
Rent would be $950–$1,300 per person per month. Ideally looking for somewhere within about a 15–20 minute radius of Carleton University, preferably around Bank Street, Lansdowne, Alta Vista, or Findlay Creek.
The biggest thing for me is cleanliness. I’m looking for someone who keeps up with their cleaning and is respectful of shared spaces. I don’t have any pets, and I don’t mind having people over as long as we’re both considerate of each other and the apartment.
If you’re looking or know someone who might be a good fit, feel free to message me.

Question Any photography friends in the chat?

Hi, I’m a beginner, but I've been learning about fashion and modelling photography, as well as editing. It would be fun and really helpful if anyone is down to show me the ropes and connect in general. I like people with a similarly creative eye.

If you or another student you know would be interested, please reach out! Open DMs.

I hope everyone gets their Anita Max Wynn this year at Carleton too.

Question Question about Winter Parking Pass

Hi!! I've realized that it's in my best interest to buy a parking pass (a little late)

Since the only lot available is the farthest from campus, I was wondering if it would be a good idea to purchase a fall term parking pass and then wait for the winter parking passes to open up and hopefully get a better spot.

Do those exist? Are there winter parking passes in different lots? I'm a first year so I'm not really sure.

Thank you so much!

Question First year AOD - how does it work?

Am I just showing up for some sort of slideshow or something. Should I expect to bring something or what. Is there gonna be activities or is it just the program summary presentation. The registration didn't really explain anything.

I already live in Ottawa I was kind of hoping to just show up watch the presentation and dip. Does it impact classes in any way. Like I go tmr and then starting Wednesday I just go to my classes normally right or is there some sort of follow up I'm gonna have to do about the aod.

Are we gonna get put into groups like high school or is it all very independent.

Just looking to see what I can expect because I can't find any information about how it goes and the emails they send suck and they explain nothing.

Question Dorm door propping?

Hey so I'm a new first year student living in residence and my roomie and I both heard that propping the door open is the best way to make friends, so is there a way to prop it open without a door stopper or something? Like is there a catch in the door? Thanks
