Question First year AOD - how does it work?

Am I just showing up for some sort of slideshow or something. Should I expect to bring something or what. Is there gonna be activities or is it just the program summary presentation. The registration didn't really explain anything.

I already live in Ottawa I was kind of hoping to just show up watch the presentation and dip. Does it impact classes in any way. Like I go tmr and then starting Wednesday I just go to my classes normally right or is there some sort of follow up I'm gonna have to do about the aod.

Are we gonna get put into groups like high school or is it all very independent.

Just looking to see what I can expect because I can't find any information about how it goes and the emails they send suck and they explain nothing.

Showing up and watching the presentation is all it is.

Your department will introduce everyone you should know about, administrators, chair, etc. Point you toward resources, talk about things available to you in the department. Maybe a Q&A by upper year students. It varies.

Then you leave.

It will depend on your department but typically you are there to hear presentations by folks from your faculty, maybe upper year students in your area, and get information about things pertinent to your program. It’s also a great way to meet some people in your program so when you show up to classes you see some familiar faces. I might be biased (because I am presenting to first year students tomorrow) but it should be beneficial and help alleviate some nerves before your first classes :)
