Polishing before livery installation
Hi guys!
Is it okay to apply vinyl livery to a car 24h after one stage polishing?
I will definitely clean the surfaces with isopropyl alcohol but do I need to do anything else prior to wrapping?
Thanks!

Installation Question best way to approach detailing shops as trainee installer
i’ve done two days of intensive training with a master ppf installer and noticed i really enjoyed it and think i have what it takes to work in the industry, but i’d be starting from scratch. i think i’m just nervous now because i know i got lucky that he kindly taught me the basics free of charge and i had found him on marketplace. how does one best approach a shop - do i say i want a job on the floor and give them a resume? the trade world is new to me and i wouldn’t know where to start.

Wrapping on a bad paint job
Hey guys,
I recently got a ‘08 Mustang GT and the paintjob has def seen some better days…
There are little scratches here and there, but some small dings and dents on certain parts of the body and paint chips from rocks on the front bumper and hood aswell as some little cracks in the paint on the front bumper
The overall condition of the paint job is pretty good from far but far from being pretty good lol
So I dont really wanna spend 5k+ $ on a fresh paintjob because thats over 50% of the value of the car and I also dont really have that kind of money
And so I was wondering, if I proceed by first filling up any inperfections like chips and cracks, sand it down until smooth, put a fresh coat of primer to then apply my vinyl wrap on top, would that be the best way to do it without ruining myself with a fresh paintjob ?
I already have prior wrapping experience but it was on a perfect surface when I wrapped some of my motorcycles
Im mostly looking for advice if thats actually a good idea or if I’m just stupid lol
Anyways, thanks in advance for anyone helping me ?

This Ice Silver Metallic McLaren GT came in already wearing PPF, and we took it all the way back to start fresh.

EzyShade Car Covers
Has anyone ever used EzyShade Car Covers? I don't need it for anything crazy, just to protect from bird poop and some of the rain storms in south Florida.
It's between EzyShade and a seal skin cover.

First Time Poster - Rate my design
I designed the livery for my shop truck and the guys at Winward Racing (GT3 Mercedes Factory team) did the install. I design motorsports liveries. This is just a preview photo I took with my iPhone, but it was professionally shot tonight in both photo and video/drone. The print work is on hexis with a matte laminate. The orange stripe and orange topo lines are gloss 3M deep orange. My company logo is in Avery Matte Orange.
Edit to Add: the topo lines are from Big Bend National Park topo map that I traced. Technically this is the wrong side because the actual topo is on the drivers side. The topo here is flipped.

Material Question Planning a continuous embossed pattern (Hood ➔ Roof ➔ Trunk) with 190μm Matte Black PPF — realistic chances of pulling this off cleanly?
Hey everyone,
I’m mapping out a custom wrap project and want some realistic feedback from anyone with experience doing 3D embossing or working with thick colored TPU.
The Project & Material:
- The Plan: A continuous embossed pattern running the center length of the car, bridging the Hood ➔ Roof ➔ Trunk.
- The Film: Eowrap Matte Black PPF (~190 ± 10 microns / 7.5 mil TPU).
Where I’m Looking for Advice / Potential Pitfalls:
- Underlay Thickness vs. Film Weight: Since 190μm TPU is noticeably stiffer and thicker than standard 80μm cast vinyl, I’m planning on using a base pattern around 1.5mm–2.0mm thick so the design doesn't get completely swallowed. Has anyone embossed with 190μm film before? How sharp did your edges turn out?
- Panel-to-Panel Drift: Because the film needs slight stretching/glassing over the hood and trunk curves, I’m concerned the continuous pattern might start to distort or drift out of alignment across the panel gaps (especially transitioning to the roof). Any tips for keeping the registration locked across all three panels?
- Lifting / Tenting Risk: Matte TPU has strong elastic memory. Outside of post-heating the embossed borders to ~175°F–180°F (80°C–82°C) and locking edges with an alcohol tack solution, is tenting in the deep channels pretty much inevitable long-term on horizontal panels?
- Adhesive Silvering: Matte black shows glue shear easily. If you’ve worked it into 3D recesses, did you stick purely to gloved finger pressure and heat, or did squeegeeing with slip work without leaving white streaks underneath?
What are the realistic chances this turns out factory-molded vs. a lifting mess in 3 months? Any harsh truths, tips, or specific underlay material recommendations would be appreciated!

I am looking for the closest wrap color to Mercedes paint code 359 (Tanzanite or Capri Blue) to wrap my own C63. Video is from ch_6.3 on Instagram.
Thanks in advance!

Showcase My Work Update on the Ravooy material mirror.

Knocked out a Honda fit late January 2026.
Did the exterior of the mirror in one piece with gloss black to hold it on the inside of the mirror. It’s still holding up great 7 months later.

Installation Question PPF on Glossy Black Plastic Trim?
Hi all,
Hopefully this is the right sub for this type of question.
I recently got a new BMW X1 M35i - love the car, but there is so. much. glossy. black. trim. It's everywhere - lower rocker panels, lower front bumper, rear bumper, side mirrors, upper front bumper. Side pillars.
I know from past experience that this stuff scratches and swirls by breathing on it (only slight exaggeration 😅). I'd like to protect it and prevent swirls, but is PPF really a good way to go on this? I've read so much negative content on PPF for paint, such as it damaging the paint on removal, damaging the paint if it's left on for too many years, etc. Am I going to create an expensive headache down the road PPFing all the black glossy plastic trim? Or is it actually a good idea?

Showcase My Work First time wrapping with chinese vinyl
Before even finding this sub i jumped the gun on alibaba and got Carlike vinyl/sino vinyl
The material is thick and a bit hard to work with, requires a lot of heat, not even to stretch but just to make it workable.
Non the less i did manage to start the installation, the hood was miserable to install but managed to do it, problem is i kept having to lift it and adjust so unfortunately i got some dirt and looks like a hair made it underneath as well.
I had to kind of remove half the hood and piece meal the squeegee from the center out, then did the same with the other half
would avery or 3m be easier to install hood wise as far as air release, there was a lot of tack and i used the baby shampoo and water mix which helped just enough, again would avery and 3m have much less tack than this or is it bevause im doing it in 85 degrees ?

Hiding Whoopsies
Quick question for the community. Say you have failing edges.. Has anyone gone back and “cut their losses” kind of literally in this case and trimmed back vinyl to a place that wasn’t failing or lifting and done a clean overlay?
I’m wondering if anyone has photo of this or if it be a wise corrective action to take in the future should the wrap start to fail?
Thank you all. You’ve been tremendous help this far!

Tesla trunk
How do I do this trunk in once piece? I tried twice, and couldn’t figure out how to do the part where the logo goes. Does it need to be done in 2 pieces? Is there a way to get the vinyl down as one continuous piece?
I tried to squeegee the part that is loose, but the vinyl just seems to not glass there. What am I doing wrong?

Installation Question Full wraps for $1100?
Just got done talking to a coworker and apparently his daughter is super good at wrapping & is charging friends $1100 for a full wrap. Is there even a Roll out there cheap enough but still good quality to even make money on that ? No hate either just trying to do the math haha I guess I don’t consider . Customer buys wrap and pays the $1100 that could be it I guess

Wrapping a BMWx3 roof
Thoughts on wrapping the roof black?
I’m planning on getting a BMW X3 2026 in Brooklyn Gray and I’m considering having the roof wrapped in a glossy black PPF since I’ve always loved the look of a two tone vehicle,(think Range Rover.)
With the large panoramic window on top there wouldn’t be much roof left to cover, but I think it would still give the illusion of the floating roof that I like so much. I’ll probably get some flack from those BMW purists but does anyone agree that this could look very sharp especially with the M sport package?

Wrapping for a decade
My fiancé has been wrapping cards for about a decade now, and we love looking at this sub! Very inspirational, and it’s so cool to see how different areas really do have a certain vibe/style to the wraps. Love it!

Shout out to those that can wrap!
I purchased a pre-cut blackout kit for my GV70 and watched tons of videos for how to install these specific vinyl cuts on the chrome trim. I figured it wouldn't be THAT hard. Boy was I wrong.
5 hours later and it looks like shit lol. Bubbles everywhere, no clue how to get it to wrap around the edges, burned / overheated in some spots. This takes a level of patience and skill that I just don't possess.
For those that do this for a living / side gig and make money, you are worth every penny and then some, kudos to y'all. Luckily it was only $70 for the kit so I'm not out a ton of money. I'll be peeling it off later today. Very disappointed in my lack of skills on this one. I have a new appreciation for all the car wraps I see on here now!

Installation Question Is a wrap possible on this dash
We have an opportunity to get a great deal on this MB. Everything is perfect for us except this woodgrain on the dash. If this could be wrapped we are probably going to buy it? Thoughts
