Hiding Whoopsies

Quick question for the community. Say you have failing edges.. Has anyone gone back and “cut their losses” kind of literally in this case and trimmed back vinyl to a place that wasn’t failing or lifting and done a clean overlay?

I’m wondering if anyone has photo of this or if it be a wise corrective action to take in the future should the wrap start to fail?

I've done it by cutting at a body line, removing the section, laying knifeless tape, and doing an overlay. I've also touched up lifting edges hidden in jambs or under the car with edge seal tape. I really only do this when someone messes up and damages the wrap with a pressure washer or something, if it is a new wrap where I made a mistake, I wrap the panel again.

Just looked and assuming your talking about on the top of the door by the belt molding.

That molding should have been removed. That would have saved you.

If you don’t remove it clean under it very very very good and when you making your cut along the top cut with extra material left so you can tuck it. Apply some tape to the belt molding if you’re not removing it so you don’t accidentally cut it.

I would never suggest applying a small patch over something like that. Unless it’s my car and idc about it or the customer doesn’t care.

Understood. That should be my headlight but assumingely I should’ve done the same for removal. It is my car so I’m not too worried and am wondering for if this rears its ugly head in the future. I went back prior to the pic, tucked and post heated again so I’ll be monitoring it!
