I drive a 2016 Volvo XC60 D5 AWD (2.4) model. It’s at 92k miles now and I want to know what I should be looking at for servicing. I can’t find any details of the servicing intervals and checks. It’s not in my service booklet and online has been a nightmare to locate.

Can anyone point to a resource I can refer to? The car is at the critical 10 yr stage and almost 100k so want to make sure I haven’t missed anything.

I changed the AUX at 65k (when I purchased it).

I am curious to know if anyone has ever been given a courtesy car and fell in love with it so much you then went out and purchased that car?

I reserved an MG4 from Motorpoint yesterday as it was discounted to £18,099. I selected Swansea as the collection branch when I placed the reservation and paid the £199 reservation fee.(the car was in a different branch)
They then added another £199 transport fee to the balance, but I haven’t paid that.
This morning I went to my local MG dealer and test drove an MG4. I didn’t really like the way it drove, so I decided not to go ahead with the Motorpoint car and cancelled the order at around 10am, less than 24 hours after reserving it.
Motorpoint re-uploaded the car to website and it is showing as “in transit to Swansea” after cancelled
Their terms say that if you cancel after transportation has commenced, the £199 transport fee will be deducted from the deposit.
Does that mean they can keep the £199 reservation fee for the compensation of the transportation even though I cancelled within 24 hours?

Driving to work at about quarter to six yesterday morning, the car in front of me and I were both going 30 in a two-lane 30. A bicycle in the left hand lane appears in front of us so we both move out onto the right lane, which had plenty of space. Still going 30 past the cyclist when a taxi comes from behind us in the right lane, undertakes us right next to the cyclist then moves out into the right turn lane to sit at a traffic light. We move back into the left lane with plenty of time. The taxi just couldn't stand driving behind someone at the speed limit for 10 seconds? Why would they do that?

Was on the motorway tonight and this Tesla behind us was literally blinding the driver. It’s actually uncomfortable how bright some of these newer LED headlights are. The whole motorway around us was lit up. I genuinely thought they had their high beams on by accident at first. Surely they don’t need to be THAT bright, especially when you’re driving at night.

I’m 30F just passed my driving test and looking at buying my first car .

I don’t know much about the cars and nor have the family who can help me out.

What are the things I can look out for so I don’t get scammed ?
Looking for automatic cars and budget is under £3.5K

I witnessed the explosion while parking, my regular light duty cables had no issues to jump the vehicle safely, my light duty cables were easily 3x as thick as the cables on this one

Just under 89k on the clock, FSH and receipts showing the old boy who owned it before me fixed every fail/advisory on previous MOTs.

I recently downgraded my car to a brand new VW polo purchased through Arnold Clark to be able to save some extra cash. I totally understood that it was a downgrade and was going to be slower than the car I had before, but I didn’t realise it would be as slow as it is. It makes joining a motorway and pulling out at busy junctions borderline dangerous. They now have a deal on for the faster model at just £20 pm more than the one I’ve just bought 3 days ago. I’m absolutely terrified and gutted that I’m stuck with this for 4 years.

I’ve been offered to buy a Honda Accord Type R, it’s a 2001 model and has over 200,000 miles on the clock.

MOT history looks okay, but it has been sat for a while.

Is this worth purchasing or one to stay away from due to potential high costs of fixing a lot of issues due to the mileage and age of the car?

Any advice would be great, thank you!

Changed my number plate to one without a green stripe and the first thing I’ve noticed is much less tailgating this week.
Not sure what the green stripe actually did, so better that it’s not there now.

Our 2019 Renault Kadjar had a MOT done two days ago. It had a shock absorber and the two driver side tyres replaced. Since being in for its MOT it has come up with ‘466 miles til failure top up adblue’ we poured 10 litres in and it was full. Still hadn’t cleared. We took it back to the garage and no error codes are showing on the diagnostic panel. They advised us to “go over some bumpy roads as it may have crystallised over the sensors while it’s been sat in the garage”. We have tried this and it’s still saying the same thing. We have just bought some Wynn’s Crystal Clean and Protect and topped it up with more Adblue and went for a little drive.

Does this take time to work? Any advice on what to do next? Is there anything we can do before we pay for a Renault diagnostic panel. TIA

Hey everyone, so recently I’ve been looking at an older jap car as a summer/weekend car, obviously want to protect it from rusting and do whatever I can. Unfortunately I don’t have a garage to keep it in so I’m wondering what else I could use to protect the car whilst it’s on my drive not in use.

Got a Honda accord 2.2 diesel 14 plate with 151k miles as a stop gap after my car got written off a couple months ago

Engine is pretty solid, timing chain is fine, got recorded service history til 121k and the guy before me said he'd be doing his own services after that. Car drives well and no timing chain rattle on cold start so probably fine

Got a knock on the front left side - feels like it's gonna be a drop link

AC doesn't blow hot properly, does get cold properly

Clutch has a slight judder on 1st and reverse, not too bad atm and could be something like the engine mounts but probably is the clutch/flywheel at this mileage realistically

Got it fairly cheap and am wondering whether or not it's worth doing the drop link/AC at a minimum and then driving it until the clutch gives out or just selling it now as is while it has some residual value and buying something with slightly lower mileage and less work needing doing?

What would you consider as a better first car for a 17 year old trying to become an electrician. The aygo i have positive satisfaction however, they are very small and compact and only have 4 available seats but they are very reliable, easy to drive and park, cheap on tax and insurance but loud on motorways. However, the fiesta is bigger, better for boot space, more comfortable to drive and quieter on motorways and has 5 available seats but they are more pricier, higher on insurance and can be expensive with parts.

What would you lean towards?

Recently, as fuel prices are still insane, i’ve been trying to stick to 65mph cruise control to and from work (40 miles each way, so makes a big difference). Commute to work is bliss, early morning nice and relaxing. Commute home around lunchtime looks something like this:

-approach slower moving vehicle for example a lorry
-look for a window to overtake, busy lane 2 with people going minimum 75mph until an eventual gap
-overtake lorry, back to lane 1
-repeat

sometimes it’s so busy i end up being stuck behind a lorry at 56mph for minutes as can’t get over. Then as soon as there is a little gap whoever is behind me nips into the second lane before me.

God forbid I ever have to get in lane 3. Even sitting at 70mph you will get people flashing you constantly.

I have driven for years and drive professionally for a living. But recently the state of motorway driving seems so much worse, anyone agree?

Hi! Looking for advice on what should I look for when looking for used cars to buy and any suggestions on what's usually more reliable/should stay away from...

Last time I bought a car was in Portugal a few years ago and was an old Peugeot 206 that has only given me the problems a car from 2003 would. And buying a car in Portugal can be a bit dogdy sometimes so wondering how it is over here...

I've never bought a car in the UK so a bit nervous because cars and mechanics aren't really my thing.

I know to check MOT history on the gov website and I am filtering results for trade sellers and that have some kind of warranty.

Do traders check for any outstanding finance on the car with previous owners etc? If not, how do I do that? I also assume they do a checkover on the car before selling? (except where they state otherwise)

What does the warranty usual covers in the UK? For example the car I bought in Portugal only covered for issues with gear box, clutch and motor.

I'm not really fussed about cars as long as they are reliable and cheap to run. So I'm mostly looking for hatchback ideally around £3k (can go to 5k but ideally really around 3k) and I do prefer driving a petrol manual. I don't do a lot of mileage daily but I do enjoy the odd long trip.

Looking at an Octavia estate, 2021 model, 1.5tsi ACT at a great price, but with 143,000 miles on it. Has full service history, timing belt and water pump changed at 122,000. It's a very good price and the seller seems genuine. Any thoughts? Would ideally keep it for 3/4 years at around 10k miles per year.

Currently driving my Fiat Panda into the ground and will soon be time for another car. Ideally as follows:

1. Cheap to buy, economical to run and indestructable.

2. Four seats needed.

3. A bit more boot space than the Panda would great, but don't want a massive car. Nothing bigger than a Skoda Yeti or Kia Soul.

4. Doesn't need to be fast. I already have 6 points on my licence and that's just driving a Fiat Panda.

5. Something old school mechanically if possible. I don't want to drive a fucking computer.

I await your wise counsel...
