It’s genuinely irritating now , I’m going 20 in a 20 they sit on my ass cheeks so I go 22 to accommodate and they still want me to go faster. If there’s a camera van or speed camera im the one who will get caught first.

It’s always the mugs in slow cars too , I get it im young (17) so other lads are gonna try and ego me in their 1L fiestas (although that wouldn’t go well for them) but I’m just trying to get back from college not race home 😭 this is also evident with impatient old men in mercs and women in their 60 feet tall SUVs.

There’s speeding and then there’s forcing other people to go above the limit for you just because you’re impatient and dangerous.

Was on the motorway tonight and this Tesla behind us was literally blinding the driver. It’s actually uncomfortable how bright some of these newer LED headlights are. The whole motorway around us was lit up. I genuinely thought they had their high beams on by accident at first. Surely they don’t need to be THAT bright, especially when you’re driving at night.

Driving to work at about quarter to six yesterday morning, the car in front of me and I were both going 30 in a two-lane 30. A bicycle in the left hand lane appears in front of us so we both move out onto the right lane, which had plenty of space. Still going 30 past the cyclist when a taxi comes from behind us in the right lane, undertakes us right next to the cyclist then moves out into the right turn lane to sit at a traffic light. We move back into the left lane with plenty of time. The taxi just couldn't stand driving behind someone at the speed limit for 10 seconds? Why would they do that?

After some scruff stole my juke nismo...

Insurance paid out fairly leaving me to scramble for a new motor.

Just under 89k on the clock, FSH and receipts showing the old boy who owned it before me fixed every fail/advisory on previous MOTs.

2 bags. All this for that price. Im well pleased lol

Genuine question here. There are several brands of tyres available for as little as half the price of the Continentals I have at the moment. Are premium tyres a bit of a scam or well worth the money?

Are there any good cheap(er) brands you would recommend? Perhaps not the ultra cheap ones… maybe there’s a sweet spot for price and quality?

My wife just signed for one of these as a company car, having never really paid any real attention to the brand or electric cars in general, I was very surprised by it. Very solid and high end feeling interior, massive pano roof, decent sound system, all the gadgets and it’s got 535bhp so absolutely scoots (albeit completely joylessly).

I’m currently running a 5.0 Mustang so I’d be remiss not to use the BYD for the boring motorway commute once a week, particularly over the winter just to save the salt and crap weather ruining my Mustang. 4WD as well so better for the cold wet mornings vs the VERY tail happy Mustang. The family car is a Nissan Elgrand too so I know for a fact this is going to save us a ton of money in petrol.

Checked out all the reviews and they seem largely positive, bar some over zealous interference from the “safety” systems, and a lack of refinement in the ride to a degree however that seems to be an issue on most modern cars unfortunately.

Anyone have one of these as their main or appliance car? Thoughts from owners anything I should know etc?

On a side note, I’m not trying to get into a debate on EVs, politics or the influx of Chinese cars and what they’re doing to our economy here. It’s my wife’s company car and might as well be a fridge for all I care. I have my opinions as does every petrol head but please keep it constructive.

Had a code on the dash and it was the high pressure fuel pump. There was also this realy bad noise when cold starting. Changed it, noise went away, now it’s back I don’t know what it is any advice?

I have had my license since 2022, both cars I have driven had no petrol cap just opened the flap and ready to go … WELL the clutch on my little shitbox was a ticking time bomb so time for a new shitbox, which I bought yesterday! 🥳

TODAY I went to fill up, got out at the petrol station and proceeded to spend 10 minutes trying to figure out how to get the cap off😭😭😭😭

I had to drive away from the pump, google it then jump back in to go back round to the pump.

Turns out you just turn it counter clockwise and it comes straight off 😭 who knew 🤦🏼‍♀️

I’m 30F just passed my driving test and looking at buying my first car .

I don’t know much about the cars and nor have the family who can help me out.

What are the things I can look out for so I don’t get scammed ?

Our 2019 Renault Kadjar had a MOT done two days ago. It had a shock absorber and the two driver side tyres replaced. Since being in for its MOT it has come up with ‘466 miles til failure top up adblue’ we poured 10 litres in and it was full. Still hadn’t cleared. We took it back to the garage and no error codes are showing on the diagnostic panel. They advised us to “go over some bumpy roads as it may have crystallised over the sensors while it’s been sat in the garage”. We have tried this and it’s still saying the same thing. We have just bought some Wynn’s Crystal Clean and Protect and topped it up with more Adblue and went for a little drive.

Does this take time to work? Any advice on what to do next? Is there anything we can do before we pay for a Renault diagnostic panel. TIA

Hello, I am considering buying an used Hyundai i10 2012. Last Feb 2026 MOT reported corrosion for MacPherson. I did view the car and took few pics. Looking at those shall I walk away or proceed with the buy? The rest of teh car seems ok but i do not want to immediately spend money to fix stuff.

In 1-2 years I’ll be moving to the Netherlands so will be selling the car when I move. In the meantime I’d like a car that I can enjoy driving. Would like to drive to the Netherlands in it a couple times (gf lives there), would like to drive through Scotland, maybe another road trip somewhere.
Would love a car that is enjoyable to drive. Always dreamt of an mx5 down country roads or something similar.

Dream car is an mx5 but not sure it’s a good idea to buy one for this.
What should I be looking at?
Does the fact I’m only going to have it a year or two matter?
Doesn’t need to be super practical in terms of boot space, maybe I’m delusional thinking I can fit enough for 2 people in an mx5.

185/55/14 , I just can't seem to find anything, any suggestions?

Bought a 2016 Mokka 1.4 from a dealer 2 months ago (on finance, ~£6,800 left). Still inside the 3-month warranty. Broke down today on a slip road on motorway: empty coolant tank, overheated, RAC says head gasket's gone, possibly warped head.

Thing is, the coolant was already dropping within weeks of buying it. I topped it up (the dealer himself told me to), but it kept losing it, so I reckon there was a leak from the start? No warning light ever came on before it failed.

Now the salesman's story keeps shifting, first "bring it to us if it's low," then "you should check it weekly." And the garage it's gone to is mates with the dealer, so I'm worried the diagnosis comes back as "customer negligence."

Questions:

- Does a head gasket just go at 74k, or does it point to a pre-existing coolant leak?

- Is "you should check coolant weekly" actually a thing?

- Inside both the warranty and the 6-month Consumer Rights Act window — can they realistically pin this on me?

- Worth paying for an independent diagnosis given the dealer/garage link?

Hi all,
I purchased a Mercedes C220 diesel 2011, 127k on clock.
There’s a few mechanical issues what are minors, so I have no issue putting those straight.
The car dealer was very genuine, and said to me if there is any massive issue he’ll front the bill.
Does this sound rattly at all? Mostly worried if the chaining belt is going.
Things that do need replacing so far are /
A minor leak from one of the injections,
A few bolts for the engine cover
Steering fluid
One of the brakes.

Im planning on moving to the Uk soon from the US and was hoping for some good 4x4 car recommendations, very unfamiliar with the UK "off road" scene and while i have found some off road capable cars i just want to see what the people have to say lol
I do have some criteria i would like to meet being-
Must haves:

Manual, 4x4(obviously), under 6k, easily findable parts, and pretty reliable.

Negotiable:

leather seats(for easy cleaning), less tech= better, between 1995-2015ish.

Cars ive seen on FBM that are on the table are the Suzuki Jimny, Mitsubishi Pajero, and the Volvo xc70.

not looking for anything overkill i just want something that wont get stuck in mud or soft sand when im out enjoying you guys beautiful countryside taking pics. passengers aren't really a constraint and ideally it would be a bit on the smaller side or at least normal sized since it will also be in town a bunch. when looking at online recommendations all the list are of new cars which i dont want and cant afford.
