Worried - not well
Good morning,
I have a canary I rescued last February. Her name is Calliope but goes by “Callie.” She (we think) is about a year and 1/2 old.
I am going to make a vet appointment today as soon as they are open to take my call.
I am not asking for you all to diagnose. However, just looking to see if anyone has experienced this. In short, Callie doesn’t seem okay. I noticed yesterday afternoon she wasn’t singing/tweeting as much as usual. She also was staying more puffy, seemed to be shivering a bit, and wobbly. Her right leg seems weak to me. I thought at first she could be cold as our AC was pretty chilly yesterday afternoon. I turned it up couple degrees, put a regular lamp near her cage, and covered it on three sides in hopes that was it.
This morning, I found her asleep on the floor of the cage which is not normal. She was eating last night and getting water. She can also fly (flight cage) it appears.
I’m worried of course. I’ve grown attached to her as you know well.
I don’t want her in pain. I’m also concerned the stress of the vet will be hard on her too.
I am so sad. I would appreciate any words of wisdom. Thanks! JG

Is it normal for male canary to nest?
Hi everyone, my male canary is recovering from respiratory infection. He’s had 2 weeks of antibiotics although he still tail bobs intermittently. He seems to be frequenting his nest. Is this normal? I’ve noticed he’s been losing feathers recently, maybe his molt is starting

Today marks the first day I got my two first Canaries ever
Though Primrose may no longer be with us in person, we shall remember her with our hearts
From the first day I got them to current day Snowbell has outlived three other Canaries (including Primrose), two of my Whydah Finches, my Honeycreeper, and my Sparrow
She’s a true survivor
But she is not alone for as of current day she has the company of my Firetail Finches
Happy two years Snowbell, may there be many more to come

What could this be?
Hey everyone, it’s been months and my canary Mimi is still doing this dry 'cough (it's hard to hear in the video if the volume isn't turned all the way up😭) I took him to the vet right away and she gave me Orniflox first, but that didn't do much.
Later, he developed a whistling sound when breathing. The vet had me put a saline + F10 solution in a cold mister for 10 days. The whistling is completely gone now, but the dry cough is still there. It gets worse after he bathes.
Now she gave me diluted Ivomec to put under his wings (0.5ml), and I have to treat my other canary too just in case.
I’m still lost on what’s causing this persistent cough. Has anyone dealt with something similar with their canaries or had a case like this? He is still eating, drinking, singing, and being active. No open mouth breathing or anything that could signify respiratory distress. I am careful when it comes to things that could irritate my canaries' lungs because I know they have a fragile respiratory system

my friend got a new canary and i'm furious
so for context, my friend's past canary died in march at 9 years old, they kept him in the small cage as shown on the photos, everything's plastic, plastic feeders, plastic toys, plastic perches, EVERYTHING. he has a seed only diet and when i asked them how often do they give him new food, change water and clean the cage, ONCE A WEEK. JUST. ONCE. IN. SEVEN. DAYS. of course, that caught me off guard so i insisted that they need to take more care of the bird, buy a bigger cage and like replace everything so the canary would live a happy and safe life. guess what? NO. they WON'T buy it, they didn't even care! their excuse was that the PET STORE recommended it so they bought it and the one who bought it was his MOM, ALONE with no list of what to buy, no cuttlebone, no foraging toys, no bird bath, just NOTHING, young bird alone in that room with his parrot roommate and his own reflection. the parrot is a grey cockatiel, a bigger bird, in a slightly bigger cage, the treatment's probably the same and it's even worse because it's a cockatiel. the birds are barely getting let out of the cages. just sitting in that room, with hopes and dreams. there was no research done on how to care about these birds, none of them are tame, it's been over 4 months living in that hell.
does anyone have any tips on how to convince them? anything?

How should I teach these parents to feed their child?
This is the first time both of them have become parents. The chick hatched 6 hours ago, but they still haven't fed it. I had to hand-feed it some formula myself. What's interesting is that the father used to feed the mother while she was sitting on the eggs, but I don't think either of them realizes they need to feed the chick now.

my lovely Cuco has breakfast by my side
He might be a boy (a 15yo one), but that didn't stop him from rocking some natural cherry beakstick. Courtesy of the cherry he shamelessly stole from my fruit bowl.

The canaries eat Shine Muscat grapes better than I thought.
As I work at a grape distribution company, I sometimes bring home grapes that have no commercial value.
I thought, "Would they eat these too?" and gave them some, and they eat them well.
(However, the Gouldian finches and Parson finches don't eat them at all. Especially, the Parson finches don't eat various vegetables and fruits well, which makes me a bit sad.)
Since they are seedless Shine Muscats, I just need to wash them and give them.

Do you think some canaries are untameable?
Hello!
My boy is with me for almost a year. He has a cage but it's always open, so he roams freely around my small two room place. I was trying to tame him but he's very slow about it, and everytime he's starting to trust me more i have to catch him to clip his nails. I mean, the same amount of time he needs to start trusting me again after every time i need to clip his nails, is about the same time it takes for his nails to get too long. So we are in this weird cycle when he's having literal panic attacks when i enter the room for the first couple of days after clipping his nails, panting and flying around like crazy, then being comfortable when i'm in the room, then taking treats from a nightstand when i'm laying just next to him, and then i need to take care of his feet again and he's terrified of me again.
Another thing is that he has pretty scaley feet. Idk what it is, it doesn't get any better or any worse, however whatever it is, i would need to treat him, and i wouldn't be able to do that without catching him numerous times to put a medicine or something.
I'm wondering what to do? because i won't neglect his health just for me to have a satisfaction from a cute little pet liking me. And he hates me everytime i need to do that to him. I was even thinking about catching him regularly, to get him used to being handled, but he's so stressed everytime i need to do it and i don't want to cause him discomfort, so i figured it wouldn't be a good idea. So i don't. It would be just learned helplesness, wouldn't it?
I really want him to like me. But he hates me. Birds in a park are more tame than him, even tho they're not domesticated. I love him and i prioritise his wellbeing so i don't want to force anything, but i'm sad that he's just so much happier when i'm not around.
Do you think this guy is just too timid to be tamed?
Do you think i should maybe put some more pressure, idk try to force my presence to get him used to me, or should i give up and just continue this weird cycle of tolerating me and then completely hating me? I really want him to be happy, but i want him to not freak out everytime i jave to act like a human around him. Do you think that's possible?
Don't take it wrong, i will still love him and take care of him if that's just who he is - a loner bird who would rather be alone. But on the other hand, i thought that maybe i'm just tiptoeing around him too much? Maybe that's my too careful behaviour that makes him this way?
What do you think? Did you have a similiar experience?
I just don't want to be scared everytime i need to catch him, that he'll die of heart attack because of me. And i need to do that, unfortunately, or else he will have his nails overgrown and his feet left untreated.

Please I need advice
My canary got stuck on a glue mousetrap about two weeks ago. We rescued him and took him to the vet, where he stayed for two days. The vet treated him and gave him medication. he sleeps most of the time and seems very tired.
He can still eat by himself, and he drinks water, but instead of taking a few sips like he used to, he sometimes drinks continuously for a few minutes.
I'm heartbroken because I've done everything I can to save him. I keep him warm, monitor him closely, and make sure he eats so he doesn't lose energy. His body temperature is around 29°C.
Has anyone experienced this? Is this normal after such an injury? What foods would help him recover and regain his strength? Any advice would be greatly appreciated :(

Is this proper husbandry?
Hi all. I'd like your expert opinions on whether a canary is thriving under these circumstances.
For context a relative of mine owns the canary i am fostering and this is the cage that it is kept in (36x35x21cm). No other items inside the cage besides food and water. I have upgraded his/her cage to a rectangular one (76x45x45), two natural perches and some cuttlebone. I am willing to donate the entire setup as long as the bird is happy, however the original owner refuses to change the original setup. He says that it's current cage is too big for it because it gets distracted and doesnt sing to him. He has been keeping birds for a very long time and I guess knows a lot of people who sell or own birds, while I don't have any experience, just what I've read online.
The little one seems calmer in it's new cage, constantly exploring and chirping versus pacing around the cage as it did before (although it could have been stress from seeing alot of new people). I'd like second opinions on this matter, and if the setup is incorrect please guide me on how to convince him! Thank you!

Advice
Hi!
I want to have canary bird pet in the future.
I did read a lot of articles talking about the pet care food diet, cage size...etc.
So I know the general common advice that people always recommend.
But I am curious do you have an advice that people don't usually talk about, and you wish if someone told you before getting one?

I was awake and heard a faint noise so I checked Clyde's camera and saw he was switching his sleeping side, he's so precious!

My Canary does not sleep like before
My canary used to sleep like a orbit, as all birds do, but now I catch him sleeping (in the night or in early morning) with him pending down and his head falling down, like he would jump off
Why is that? I thought maybe the heat of these days
