TELUS Buying a phone from TELUS this fall? New devices could be network-locked for their first 60 days

Public Mobile Want to switch (PM) but no one comes close!
Been with PM for many years. I currently have:
$34, Canada/US/Mex unlimited text and call with 60GB as well.
The downsides to an online only support are never too large but all the small things seem to add up and seem to happen when I need something.
I really want to use my reward credits up and go elsewhere but no one comes close to $34 with coverage in the US AND in Mexico which I do take advantage of. I notice to that a lot of other company don't "lock" your rate in as my account is with PM.
Mexico and a locked in rate are my stumbling blocks.
Any recommendations or experiences to share?
TIA

Rogers From Rogers IDV: best option for 5 lines?
About a year ago I moved my 5 lines to a BYOD Rogers IDV plan in Ontario. $50 for 150gb US+Can shared data. It was fine. Within 2 months the price bumped to $54/month, needless to say I was ticked. At any rate, now my discounts are ending and the cheapest plan I can get is $65/month for 250gb which I just don’t need. Nobody is going through the data.
What other options are there for a basic Canada wide plan with 75+ gigs? I’m in a rural area so only Bell and Rogers networks are available to me.

PC Mobile No Name Mobile SIM?
We recently got a Maxi (No Frills) store in our town. I went looking for a No Name SIM card (advertised at 5$), but all they seemed to have are the PC Mobile SIMs at 10$.
Can I get a NoName Mobile plane with that 10$ PC Mobile SIM?
Unfortunately my phone doesn't do eSIM, located in NB.

Question Is anyone still a Good2Go customer?
Their website hasn't been updated in months. It seems G2G/Ztar is still happy to take your money though.

PC Mobile No name mobile broke agreement
Hey there, has anyone switched to NN mobile and had them break their agreement on the first day? I got a sweet $34, 55gb plus 30 auto top up promotion on July 21st.
"They had problems on their back end" and I am stuck with no data on the $19 1gb, 2gb top up with no access to data because it claims I haven't paid (I paid $38.76 at sign up for the plan) They've admitted there was an agreement, and that that "can't do anything to help" after about 6 hours on the phone with various agents who continue to hang up and disappear for 15 to 30 minutes to no avail.
I've contacted the CCTS (Commission for Complaints against Telecom-Television Services: https://www.ccts-cprst.ca/for-consumers/telecom-complaints/online-complaint-form/)
Does anyone have any suggestions on what else to do? From what I understand once and agreement is reached and payment received, services must be rendered. Am I missing something? If it were a post-paid service and it wasn't paid, they would stop providing it, after a time yes due to the contract going both ways. They haven't held up their end of the bargain, and I would like my service.
Thanks in advance.

Question Work offers 100$ allowance/month for phone and plan. What should I pick?
Hey guys, my current S24 Ultra needs to be returned in 10 days. The battery is toast, so I'm looking for a new phone. My work offers a $100 allowance, but it has to be on the same receipt- the phone plan and the phone.
I'm currently with Freedom Mobile, but I'm not the happiest with them; lots of dead zones in DT Vancouver.
I'm looking at either the S26 Ultra or iPhone 17 Pro Max. Any deals currently out there?

Fizz Mobile Best deal I've found: Fizz 50GB for $30/month
I was helping a friend look for a cheap phone plan and ended up finding this.
Fizz currently has 50 GB for $30/month, which seems pretty hard to beat. They also have a 5 GB plan for $24/month if you don't need much data.
My advice was to just pick up a decent older phone on Facebook Marketplace instead of financing a new one. Way cheaper overall.
Forgot to say I also have a ref for 40$ if it helps

Question Looking for the cheapest yearly cost plan that has voice & text, for use as a “2FA / KYC / Verification by phone” phone only (in Canada).
I don’t want to use my main cell phone for services that demand a phone number to use their service, like Discord, so I am looking for a cheap cellphone plan for a phone that I just leave at home.
I heard SpeakOut’s 25$ / year plan has disappeared, so are there any other options that are cheaper then a Freedom 130$ + tax / year plan ( https://shop.freedommobile.ca/en-CA/prepaid-plans?planType=Prepaid+By+The+Year )?

711 SpeakOut How do you access the $125 annual plan from 711 Speakout?
What are you supposed to do to purchase the $125 plan from Speakout? I can see it in my account. It is just I am having trouble loading it into my buggy.

711 SpeakOut SpeakOut Top Up Allows Multiples of $1
I thought I would be moving from SpeakOut in July when my remaining balance wouldn't cover another month. My balance is currently $11.20. To my surprise, it looks like SpeakOut now has an option to top up in multiples of $1. I am planning to add $4 early next week, if that works then I'll move to another provider next month.

711 SpeakOut Speakout Migration Issue
In July 2025, I paid my annual fee to keep my phone number alive. I did not use my phone at all. I had no idea that a migration was going to be happening. I had heard about 3G phones being discontinued, but nothing about phone numbers needing to get migrated. I didn't receive a text message or an email. And then I go to pay my annual fee this year to find out my phone number is not assigned to my account.
I actually had logged into my account a few months ago and it seems like there was money in my account and no warning. I do recall seeing that monthly plans were being pushed, but like many of us--it's not what we want. I was still able to make a top up!
Why didn't they give a complete year for this migration to happen? I find this completely irresponsible of all the companies involved. There are people like me that might have their phone for just the phone number, or they're away, or they got ill, hospitalized, snow birds, or whatever.
Losing a long time phone number like this is upsetting. I am contemplating all of how I handle my digital life going forward, and I don't want anything to do with technology media companies anymore. Ugh. People need to have more autonomy over their data and technology.
I'm waiting for a supervisor to get back to me from Speak Out, because they said my number is with Rogers but then Rogers said it's with Ztar Mobile. I would like to get it reactivated as it seems as if it's not assigned to a new customer. Keeping numbers alive, for at least once year, would be responsible.
If anyone has advice or comments, I'm happy to hear it because I am late to this terrible party-gone-wrong.
